Yes you can directly connect the isp provided cable to your lab router. But ask your isp if you have to buy a modem separately, if they say yes than connect that isp provided cable to the modem and from that modem connect your lab router.

@IT Support People when you do the NAT overload on the router, why is it: ip nat inside source list 1 "int g0/0" and not "int g0/1"? I thought g0/0 was outside and g0/1 was inside?
Thank you so much. Great job. I learnt more in this video than I could from a book. I have many books and they are very confusing. In future videos, could you also kindly explain very briefly, certain key commands, like for example, in this video: what does overload mean and do. Or what does ip route accomplish. etc. Thankyou again. Keep up the good work.
This is an excellent video for beginners like me. Thank you. I do however have a couple questions. Some ISP's do not give you static ip on your connection. If they assign you a different ip bi-weekly, will it affect port 0/1 since the ip for 0/0 has changed? Also, if I have 2 ISP's at home (one get free from our cable company (10/100)) and a fiber that I pay for, is it a just a matter of creating another vlan on the router and creating a different segment? I would like to have my servers access both network, is that possible? Another question, we have a shared printer on the fiber connection for the rest of the family, will my lab which have access to it? Thanks again!
I'm studying Eng. and I think that doing this, applying a router and a switch is extremely overkill but then I think: hmmm, let's try this haha. If that is successful then try to ping the home isp router gateway ip 192.168.1.1 if it is successful then ping google dns serve ip 8.8.8.8 if it is also successful then network configuration is ok. Then you have to chek internet setting to your pc. Go to network sharing center then advance setting then double click your Ethernet adapter then click ipv4 then select ip automatically same for dns. I think that would work. Thanks

Hi hope you can help me with one question, why in my switch (2960) i dont see an ip address for the vlan1, the dialog box show IP-ADDRESS UNASSIGNED that after the router config (1841)
Thanks for watching... You can check #sh vlan to check any vlan were configured previously or not. Or you can delete all vlan #delete vlan.dat and reload the switch. If still doesn't work just factory reset your switch by pressing and holding mode button. But it will erase all configuration. Another important thing is connect the rj45 cable coming from the Cisco router to the Fa 0/1 port of the switch. Hope this will work. Thanks
