Due to the pandemic, we had to cancel our trip to Napa Valley; however, that wasn't going to keep us down. We planned an impromptu girl's trip to Salamander Resort & Spa, a 5-star Black owned resort in Middleburg, Virginia. Middleburg is a town in Virginia's wine and horse country. The resort is owned by Shiela Johnson. Check out our stay. We also visit two wineries and have a nice lunch at one of our favorite restaurants, King Street Oyster Bar. That’s a very high end menu & dishes easy to muff up! -as a Chef aficionado how was the risotto? Scallops? And was that filet on point? Thinking of flying there to treat daughter for her 38th birthday. She’s who’re Hennessy-I’m all about the cork & vintage. 🤣

We are so lucky to be close to Napa I sometimes forget there are so many other places to get great wine . We want to definitely check out the black own place you stayed. We’re their any black owned winery in Virginia ?

We were so upset we had to cancel Napa 😩. We will definitely reschedule the trip. Yes, our friend owns a vineyard in the area: Delaplane vineyard is black owned. It’s amazing, definitely check it out!

Thank you! The food at Harriman’s was amazing. The beverages were also good. We did not order a bottle of wine at dinner, we brought our own and paid the cork fee.

Yes, it can get costly. They run deals sometimes and it’s less during the week but it’s definitely a splurge. We usually stay one night and then head on out 🤣
