- Lorde and Marlon Williams performing 'The sound of Silence" by Simon & Garfunkel @ the charity concert 'You Are We' in Christchurch on April 17, 2019
Just here to say that Marlon Williams is super underrated and he deserves all the attention and success.
I don't think he's underrated, he was even in the movie A Star is Born and has collaborated with loads of artists and is acting in movies as well as doing his music. He's very popular in Australia, where he now lives, as well as here in NZ.
RIP Johnny
i miss lorde... also i wish they turned off the audience’s mic when they started signing
^^^ THIS ..
So much respect 👏
Or better yet, recorded direct from the PA, if they didn't already.
dont know if anyone gives a damn but if you are bored like me atm then you can watch all of the latest movies on instaflixxer. Have been binge watching with my girlfriend recently :)
@Messiah Theo Yup, been watching on instaflixxer for months myself :)
Marlon is beyond awesome
Their voices blend so well together. Perfect song for this event! Arohanui 💖
This was amazing to see live, so glad I was there ❤️
Cap
The talent and soul is so strong it hurts
Amazing! A duet for the ages.
This is hauntingly beautiful
aaah ive missed ella so much
Lorde’s voice tho
This song is the epitome of the modern world we live in and what the world has become.... it is both poetic and apathetic to our reality....If you were a scholar it might make you think of how religions or the principal of religions are included in our modern age '....to the neon sign we made...'.... The song uses the imagery of light and darkness to show how people's ignorance and apathy destroys their ability to communicate even on simple levels.
Its theme is man's inability to communicate with man. The author sees the extent of communication as it is on only its most superficial and "commercial" level.... "people talking without speaking - hearing without listening". No one dares take the risk of reaching out ("take my arms that I might reach you") to disturb the sound of silence. The poet's (character in the song) attempts are equally futile (" . . . but my words like silent raindrops fell within the wells of silence"). The ending is an enigma. The words tell us that when meaningful communication fails, the only sound is silence.
Some of the above comment is that of scholars who studied the piece in depth in the 1980s
What an unique and beautiful voice omg
wow, I think it is great
keep sharing them =D
I think I am saving this
Love both of them!
Wow 👏👏👏 beautiful
C'est magnifique ! :)
supernatural chills
Beautiful 🥰🥰
Wow exactly like the original 😍
Haunting
perfect
Perfeita
❤
I think both of them have a wonderful voice, but not together. I think this showcases Lordes voice while marlon's was put on the back burner and given his talent, it shouldn't have been.
my favourite part of You Are Us/Aroha Nui
😇😇😇
Marlon should be as big as Elvis. And bigger than Lorde
Nice
Who is a professional musician who thinks Marlon is off key? A friend and I are debating this - friend thinks he's off and I think he's perfect.
I have been involved in music since the age of 3. I am now nearing 53. He is pitch perfect. His talent is God-given.
I must say, that I liked Marlon's singing even better still. Lorde was playing catch-up.
His voice is incredible.
They are not very good. I have never heard 'Sounds of Silence' sung in such a boring manner!
It's a memorial concert you goofball
So because it was a memorial concert, its ok to have a couple of artists sing very badly, what is renowned as a great classic song.
I like both Lorde and Marlon Williams, but on this occasion, they did not do justice to this beautiful song.
It's perfectly soulful. It connects to the heart
Respect ur opinion bruh
Let's hear you do it.
omg Lorde bad singer
