2021 Season Message

We are excited to share with you that North Carolina Theatre will begin our upcoming season in July with Jason Robert Brown’s musical, Songs for a New World.
The composer Jason Robert Brown is best known for his Broadway and Off-Broadway productions of Parade, The Last Five Years and The Bridges of Madison County. This, his first produced musical, Songs For a New World is stylistically influenced by a broad range of musical genres, including pop, gospel and jazz.
The connecting theme in this show is “Recognizing the moment of decision.” The show encompasses characters who are facing and accepting new circumstances which often drive them to explore new ways forward. Sometimes when we set sail in uncharted waters, we navigate to discover a whole new world.
In this past year we have all faced a world of uncertainty, and we believe that opening our season with this enchanting show of uplifting music, perfectly embodies our season’s theme: To find your voice and chart your own path.
