I just want to share my story here. Several years ago, when I was around 19 or 20, I found myself feeling weird around my young nieces. About 8 and 10 years old. At first, I just kind of ignored it, and their parents send those two girls to my parents' house (I still live with my parents, common thing in Malaysia) to basically babysit them when they're too busy. I love those two, literal angels. But after a while, I realized that those feelings of love are a different kind, and of course, I started freaking out. The two are very attached to me, and they often come and hang out in my room while I play games or watch YT. After I realized those feelings, I started to distance myself from the two. It was very frustrating and heartbreaking because they come over and they come looking for me, but I force them away, and I can clearly see that they are sad about it. I tell them to stay out of my room, when they come over I head out to wander around town for hours on end, just to stay away. After about a year of fear and paranoia, with me looking at every child with absolute fear and dread and locking myself in my room more and more, I decided to swallow my pride and go to therapy. To be honest, I don't know why I saw therapy as such a negative thing, but I'm glad I pushed myself to go. It was terrifying to say the least. I mean, imagine driving 20 minutes to the place, alone with your paranoia in the car, waiting in the waiting room, entering and sitting down on a chair, and preparing to tell someone you think you like kids. I think I sweat more then compared to anytime I have exercised. Fingers trembling, jelly legs, head spinning and everything. I finally spilled everything out, and I felt some relief for once. I'm not gonna narrate everything, but after several months of therapy under everyone's noses, my nieces came over, and for the first time in about a year, I could finally interact with them without feeling weird. It was a lot of headache, shame, self-hatred and discomfort (and money), but I was finally gaining some semblance of normality again. It's been 3 years from then, and I'm happy to say I no longer feel anything inappropriate around children. I still rather have someone else in the room too when I'm with children, because if I'm honest, I'm skeptical that it only takes so little time to change my entire psyche. But at the very least, I can take care of the kids that are around me while knowing that I myself will not be a danger to them. And yeah, I'm still going to therapy. Hopefully sooner or later I can finally feel full confidence that I am back to normal, and will no longer need to blow money on these therapy sessions. In short, if you have those kinds of feelings towards children, find someone you can speak to and get some help. No child deserves to have inappropriate things done to them. Exposing a child to those things early on will leave some deep f**cking scars that will stay with them. I don't know it from first hand experience, but anyone with a common sense can estimate that.
I personally believe that predators actually just want to use power, and the easiest person to use that power on is children, because how can you be attracted to that, or you can be Shadman, and I feel like AM whenever Shadman is brought up.

As someone who is one year older than X, X being the individual that is either the victim or not a victim, and being a victim myself of something along the same line of what Ava is being accused of, but worse, being an adult for 2-3 years does not entirely allow you to know if you were groomed. Now, the brain may start correlating the actions of your groomer/victimizer together by now and you could realize, but it’s taken me around 17 years to find out the thing I made the statement of before, although not just blatantly saying it of course, and I’m still asking myself questions about why and how.
