When Jessica learns how to interpret songs the way Barbra can, she's gonna be phenomenal. That will come with maturity and Jessica is way ahead of herself already.

My thoughts exactly! I have always felt that the two finalists should have been Jessica and Joshua Ledet. Dude's voice was crazy amazing and his performances always had me glued to the television. Jessica's voice was always so rich and effortless. That would have been an AI finale for the gods!

At least, I think she is on Beyonce's vocal level. Personally, I think she's actually more controlled with more finesse than Beyonce in some of her performances because she easily and effortlessly projects without doing so many riffs and runs, only placing them where she sees fit. She actually allows her natural voice to flow over the melody while sings the song instead of singing AT the song if that makes sense. I am also aware though that because Beyonce is...Beyonce, people hate for her to be compared to someone who isn't as famous as she is even when they are obviously just as vocally capable, as if you are insulting Beyonce because you think someone younger is just as talented as she is with the potential to be better. They do sound similar when singing in their lower and midregister. The higher it goes, you could say their voices do sound different. Bey's obviously an influence (the vibrato, the runs, etc), but Beyonce's a soprano (I think), and Jay's mezzo. Their upper range is quite different.

At least, I think she is on Beyonce's vocal level. Personally, I think she's actually more controlled with more finesse than Beyonce in some of her performances because she easily and effortlessly projects without doing so many riffs and runs, only placing them where she sees fit. She actually allows her natural voice to flow over the melody while sings the song instead of singing AT the song if that makes sense.
I am also aware though that because Beyonce is...Beyonce, people hate for her to be compared to someone who isn't as famous as she is even when they are obviously just as vocally capable, as if you are insulting Beyonce because you think someone younger is just as talented as she is with the potential to be better. When you voice that opinion, people say things like "Well Beyonce can sing and dance simultaneously and Jessica can't" as if that takes away from the fact that Jessica is still just as capable vocally. No one mentioned dancing as this is not a dancing video, and the fact that people have to bring up Beyonce's extra talents during a discussion of vocal capability comparison says something...
I know this comment is 5 years ago but i think you should check Beyonce vocal analogy. I'm just saying that Beyonce has the best technique in this generation. She's a star rated vocalist and that being said, Beyonce is a superior vocalist to Jessica.

They do sound similar when singing in their lower and midregister. The higher it goes, you could say their voices do sound different. Bey's obviously an influence (the vibrato, the runs, etc), but Beyonce's a soprano (I think), and Jay's mezzo. Their upper range is quite different.

lol thanks, but oh Yes I know Jessica. I've been following her singing before Idol, She was on youtube for years before appearing on the show. I first saw her when she was 10 years old on America's Got Talent and fell in love with her voice then. She should have won on both shows, but I'm sure she'll still do great. We just all need to share her videos so more people can hear her for the first time, and request to hear her songs on the radio. Every little bit helps. Once I come out with original songs, I'll probably need the same help as well. lol
