Joey, can you put a tegu in with Redfoot tortoises? Have a nice large outdoor pen with four two year old redfoots. Wondering if I could let my tegu that I got from you this summer with them.
Hey! Hope he is doing well 😁. I would say that there is always a risk in co-habbing but I have never had a tortoise and a tegu together so I don't feel like I have the experience to share an opinion.
I have been eagerly awaiting a video from you guys! Those enclosures are lewking excellent! I got my new lavender albino reticulated python the day before yesterday! I'm obsessed with him, I named him Ouroboros. My Pubba didn't brumate completely this year, he did a semi-brumation where he wakes up for a few hours to eat, poop, and digest in the light before going back to sleep for another 20 hours lol.
@@RoseCityReptilesTX I honestly don't know what I'll do if he does go down completely, Pubba and I are literally inseparable. He even goes to class with me!
I live in Britain is it okay if I keep my tegu in all year round obviously letting them stroll round the house and using the appropriate lights and such ?
Great video! in San Francisco, the lowest winter temperatures are around mid 40s. Does that mean we might keep tegu outdoor year round without moving them inside?
I have observed that a lot of reptile owners and sellers always mentioning that you cannot feed native wild insects to them, as well as a necessity for using substrates that are sterilized, bought in a bag, and hand mixed at home. What do you think about that? I'm contemplating getting a tegu for example, and let's say I want to stop by and get a can of live fishing worms for it, would that be okay? Or, can I catch wild native grasshopper in my front yard and feed it?
The worms would probably be ok but the wild caught grasshopper is a hard no. The problem is the potential to carry harmful diseases and parasites. Both grasshoppers and crickets are very prone to carrying parasites that can infect your lizard. Crickets are one of the most parasite and disease laden wild insect there is.
Thank you for the reply! I'm looking for a pair of beautiful albino or het albino.. I already own 3 tegus and 1.1 pied 1.1 banana pectinata ..when would you have for sale
Bring them inside if the temps are dropping low. If its lots of rain and wind then I keep a close eye on them throughout the night and keep the trees trimmed that are around the enclosures.
I have a glass terrarium with a "sliding door" on the top, and I want to let tegu be around in my apartment. I have an idea to change the position of the terrarium so that the door will be on the side. Question: Will my UVB, UVA Exo Terra Solar-Glo lamp give full specter of light and warmth thru glass?
Glad all the outdoor enclosures are coming along so well. Can’t wait to see all the tortoises and tegus outside! Liam hope your cheek feels better.

Yes, you don't have to keep a tegu outside.

Possibly. With modifications it sounds like a possibility. But there are always so many factors.

@@JohnDoe-rx1vd I have some het. Albino blue hybrids available now. Definitely breeding quality!
What do you do with your tegus during severe weather?
Bring them inside if the temps are dropping low. If its lots of rain and wind then I keep a close eye on them throughout the night and keep the trees trimmed that are around the enclosures.

What does corrugated mean?
That's what they call the metal they often use for roofing and siding.
I was told that tegu can get mites from walking in the grass is that true?
No that's not true. Tegus scales don't overlap, so in my experience that's why I never have issues with mites.
❤
Fyi not much will grow under a pine tree.
Furry tegus?
Lol!
