This was one of the 1st. 4 albums I had my parents buy for Christmas. They thought I was nutz. Then my father, a classical nerd, finally figured out just how talented these English lads are. 50 years later I still listen once ever couple of months.
Hah! Yep! Adam Hart Mother was my third album I ever bought. My first was Dark Side of the Moon, and I bought Adam Heart Mother at the same time! I really loved Dark Side of the Moon and hit the record store to get it, saw This one and got it too! That was in like 78' or 79' I think. I also bought Kiss Destroyer at the same time! lol
I had ummaguma , the dark side of the moon , wish u were here , Animals , and many versions of the wall . And the final cut . But this one I only knew the image of the cow
First time I had heard this, I was on cid that some older artist guy saved since 1968. It was in the early 2010s. It was amazing to me. The long song put me in awe. I was convinced that I could tear the fabric of "illusion" or "spacetime."
I recall purchasing this lp new, when it was first released... Shame that so many critics dissed this lp... Goes to show that opinions are like B H 's... Everyone has one... And everyone else's stinks but your own!!
lol I can actually hear Genesis, also the genesis of Genesis the band ha. Nah Trespass had just came out but a lotta early Genesisy sounds on this that I recall again.
One of the first Pink Floyd songs I heard surprisingly. At first I didn't pay much attention to it, except that it was over 20min long. As a matter of fact, I think this was the first 10min+ song I was introduced too. Fascinated with this unique yet beautiful music, I dove in further to what was to become my favorite band of all time. A true gem in their discography!
Of the universe of things that Gilmour and Waters disagree on... They both agree on how much they hate Atom Heart Mother. Such a shame. A true underrated work of art.
I was born three years after this album. Listened to it hundreds of times and every time sounds like the very first one! Flawless! Still love it so much!
I was born twenty years before this album. Of course I watched/listened to a plethora of music genres of many countries and been exposed to several instances of what people would say "is the best band in the world" about then current music. To me Pink Floyd came along and blew them all out of the water, replacing the top groups with ground breaking talent, and stealing the title. Of course I realize not everyone shares my opinion and some even dislike the music, but to each his own. Our differences are what makes this world interesting.
I'm amost 40 now. First time I heard this is from cassette that I bought in local music store around 90 - es. They had small amounth of Pink Floyd so I just bought that and espected something like Wish you were here or Another brick in the wall. At first this was not what I espected and was confused. But I was listen it anyway. And the more I was listen more I liked it. It was something completly diferent. On B side it was Green is the colour, Careful with that axe Eugene which I also like wery much.
Every Floyd album is a masterpiece of musical art to me. All of them. Every one is a journey. Speaking of which I highly recommend the 'Man and the Journey' radio broadcast boot of Amsterdam 69, especially if you haven't experienced it. Take some mid range out and put some bass in it ;) Lights off, music on. Enjoy.
It was my real first experience with Pink Floyd long time ago, when I was 14. A friend neighbor was kind enough to lend the cassette tape, and I've listened in my sound system as if there was no tomorrow. Little I knew how much influential it became to me with the years passing, in my decision to become a composer of instrumental music. I'm very thankful for the existence of this record. It has inspired me to become what I am now.
It really is amazing how Pink Floyd music has become a part of being a human being, to so many for so long, and will continue till the world ends. Tomorrow.🙂🤞
I have wandered these meadows in southern Cambridge. As a UK resident of course I had to see Grantchester Meadows for myself. It's a beautiful, serene place with the River Cam winding through, quite seen. Go if you can.
An amazing song. I bought this album, Ummagumma, Meddle, and a couple other Floyd albums within a small time frame back in the day. Can't understand why Gilmore/Waters disliked this album. I is amazing
Pure Pink Floyd from first to last note: identity, effects, ambience, dexterity, musicianship, creativity, vanguard. All the qualities of the band are displayed here.
This is my favorite album from the earlier years of Pink Floyd. The brass sounds incorporated throughout give it a nice contrast that still holds up incredibly well over 50 years later.
I've always enjoyed Richard Wright's solo from 2:58 to 3:56 (without taking credit away from the rest of the band, of course). In my opinion it is Exceptional! 🎼💎🌈❤️
This was my gateway drug into Pink Floyd. I initially wandered into the wrong neighborhood and got in with a bad bunch of guys who had obscured by clouds in the meddle jacket, or vice versa, so when I went to buy the album I thought I liked I got something different. I got it all sorted out now, and take them all whenever I get a chance, point is know your dealer, stay safe, see you at the bar
Totally underrated! Back in 2007, I wrote to Ron Geesin to say how much I like the piece and that it's one of my favourites, especially the cello part, which although Ron didn't play, he clearly wrote. Next thing I know, he's playing it live with David Gilmour! I went to the gig and it was fantastic! I'd like to think that my letter played a part in making him decide to do the live performance!
I wish they dignify this wonderful composition with a fresh remaster, so that we can hear all the shine this well balanced epic track has to offer. I keep imagining in my mind's ears how a sharp and polished remaster would be and if it will be like the remaster of "Animals" then I'd buy it immediately.
Just checked that I haven't commented in this video yet, and I think this song deserves a word. I might have begun to be into PF around 2017 or so, and by the time I decided to listen to their whole discography in order. This record got my attention, and the fact that this absolute psychedelic piece with no less than 23 minutes amazed me is incredible. It doesn't sound mainstream, it doesn't have lyrics, it's a damn long track, mostly played by orchestra, not common in a rock record, but still hits like those great hits they have released.
4 overlooked Great Floyd Albums that I love. I have bootlegs up the wall, I'm a collector. More Ummagumma AHM Obscured by Clouds. They're all still amazing but eclipsed by more 'commercial' masterpieces.
This is my first time listening to Atom Heart Mother. I like it! I'm more of a "Latter Years" Floyd fan, but I'm starting to enjoy SOME of their earlier work, too.
My man, check it l out. Start with Piper and journey through Syd's breakdown actually captured on Vinyl on SOS to the More soundtrack to Umma, then you're done cos I'm sure you know Meddle. Obscured by Clouds is another you may not have heard, which is the true precursor to WYWH not Dark Side. The themes on OBC are post DSOTM and defo lead into the themes on Wish. Also, there's a rareish live song called Embryo, which is transcendent, also quite atomy in a way, just get a crystal enough version, Montreux 71 or Paris theater 71 maybe. Enjoy.
After ya done with Piper and before u listen to SOSecrets. Listen to the 'Vegetable man' and 'Scream thy last scream' singles. Then you will understand why he takes the back seat on SOS after 'sharing the driving' with Roger.
I been listening to Floyd since I was an Embryo ;) Literally like. It's been a minute since I listened to this. Mother fore is as beautiful as ever. But man do I love that FUNKY DUNG !
Also. listen to Embryo if you haven't already, Live though, specifically the 'fallopian tube' version which has an AHM like intro. It's the unique version of Embryo. It's called 'The Libest spacement monitor' on Pictures of Pink Floyd' Bootleg

Medle was my very first album ever given by Sinterklaas, the origin of Santa Klaus, around 53 years ago.
One of my absolute favorite albums in the Floyd catalogue. I hate that it’s so overlooked
Me too but It seems to be having a resurgence. A _remergence_ within the popular culture, if you will ;)
I had ummaguma , the dark side of the moon , wish u were here , Animals , and many versions of the wall . And the final cut . But this one I only knew the image of the cow

I vividly recall high on LSD in college listening to this in my dorm room. The part where Nick Mason says "silence in the studio !" freaked me out lol
Unique and unrepeatable album. A piece of music history. This suite is an incredible journey without end ✨🎶🐮🎶✨
Dittos
this song feels like both the end, and the beginning of the world, of time and space, and everything in between. masterpiece
YES YES YES lol yep man
Its like a Wagnerian creation epic
lol I can actually hear Genesis, also the genesis of Genesis the band ha. Nah Trespass had just came out but a lotta early Genesisy sounds on this that I recall again.
It's a cosmic epic.

One of the Floyd´s masterpieces. Underrated, unfortunately.
Pink Floyd is the classical music of the future!!!
Pink Floyd's most underrated song
Of the universe of things that Gilmour and Waters disagree on... They both agree on how much they hate Atom Heart Mother. Such a shame. A true underrated work of art.
Just fat old sun & summer 68 alone make it a great album & then u have this epic composition!
Opinions are like arseholes... everyone has one!
Jealous of Ron Geesin, perhaps? I loved it 1970 and still love it now and I've never really worried about Gilmour & Waters' opinions.
@@tommyrawlings3046...and they all stink!!
True, BUT Gilmour also once said that you could hear the precursors to Dark Side of the Moon in this song, along with Echoes and Saucerful of Secrets.
They also agree on how much they hate each other, sadly
My favorite song ever! Only Pink Floyd. The best band ever 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
When i hear this song i m traveling to other worlds, far away from problems and when I realise that i m just a human i thank God for this masterpiece.
I thank the Universe. Seems more apt.
I think I’m god when I listen to this not a simple human lol
Thank Pink Floyd most importantly
It is SPECIAL.
.
Very special
Never heart.... ann
The Wall and Dark Side Of The Moon were more or less familiar but when in 1986 I heard Atom Heart Mother I really got into Pink Floyd. Great album.
Dark side and all that came after it was good
But all them came before dark side was phenomenal!
A Masterpiece, PINK FLOYD TO ETERNITY
The marvelous horn section of this opus has never been replicated to its maximum beauty in modern rock music!
Atom Heart Mother is a top 10 Floyd song
One of the earliest fusions of progressive rock with full orchestra and remains the greatest of all time.
I was born three years after this album. Listened to it hundreds of times and every time sounds like the very first one! Flawless! Still love it so much!

Beatiful and high quality music. Pink Floyd is epic

Friggin masterpiece. I listen to it often but this is so special. I ❤ Pink Floyd RIP Rick & Syd.
A masterpiece. Richard Wright rules here. As progressive as something can be.
Being a bass nerd, I love Roger’s riffs here! Definitely one of, if not my favorite “deep cut” Floyd track. Just a masterpiece!
This is the first time I have ever listened to it, everyone is right , this album is overlooked
Welcome to the AHM. Took ya time man. Funky Dung ? Yeah Yeahhhh

Thank you Ron Geesin 🙏
This is my favorite album from the earlier years of Pink Floyd. The brass sounds incorporated throughout give it a nice contrast that still holds up incredibly well over 50 years later.
This is, I think by far the finest musical creation by Pink Floyd. ❤
IMHO, a close 2nd to Echoes
I've always enjoyed Richard Wright's solo from 2:58 to 3:56 (without taking credit away from the rest of the band, of course). In my opinion it is Exceptional! 🎼💎🌈❤️
Strangely some of my favorite Gilmour solos are from this song
Funky Dung man
Such guitar is also used in Meddle, never more.
The scene with the fly is just exquisite on high end audio!
With this masterpiece began my way with Floyd. Thanks.
The drumming, snare, the symbol and the electric guitar are absolutely Pink Floyd!!! There's no mistaking that sound ......anywhere or by anyone.
This is a great piece, nice to accompany with your breakfast and morning cannabis
Boy, do I have the song for you.
Agree and disagree, when you don't have anything, the song alone is enough to trip😉
Don’t recall hearing this Jim before. Can hear precursors to Animals and dark side of the moon in it. Cool track.
Masterpiece 🍷🗿
One of their overlooked gems. Unfortunately, David and Roger hated the album.
I promise you I don’t overlook this track, I think it’s brilliant.
If they hated it, why did they record and release it?
@@jimyoung1011 I think they hung on a quiet desperation in an English way.
@@comfortablynumb0696 nice one 😂
Not enough money... Non-commercial. Then they learned to make "music for everyone"

Yes this was one album I had at 16 years from my father. There is not a DVD or CD I have not bought, especially Syd Barrett.
Saw them perform this at Bath Blues Festival in 1970. A sublime memory!! Thanks guys 🙏
It's Pink Floyd! Followed them, loved them since high school.
wish i could have grown up in the 70s when this stuff was still being made :(
This song pierces me like an arrow through my chest, it's like I'm in picture listening to this
Jojo reference 🤨
I like how it names the different parts
It's always been the best thing in the world for me.
Piece of art
Funky Dung - possibly the best 5 minutes of music the band made?? The bass, the guitar and that motherfucking keyboard man. The drums were ok too ;-)
This great classic album that 52 years ago and that so precious 🥰
I am one of the arab people who can understand and feel the music of pink Floyd

Super musica, con delle cuffie di qualità è FANTASTICA
Atom Heart Mother is such an oddball in the band's discography, but it's great!
seeing all the different parts of the suite noted is really nice for the overall experience actually.
