Great to see a CD32 get pull out and used. I purchased my NTSC CD32 at the world of Commodore Amiga Show in NYC from a Canadian vendor that had brought a few for display and sale. it was our audio "CD" player for years it sat in the living room attached to the TV./Hifi and I have great memories of playing Labyrinth of time and The Chaos Engine (best version of the game with the voiced intro) with my children back in the day. It's true Didn't sell that well when released the biggest issue was it was not officially released in the USA and the CD32 did not get the launch library it deserved. That said owing to its explanation port it has seen a lot of modern add-ons developed for it. add a TF330 and a riser and you have a great A1200 level computer with 128 megs of RAM, an internal IDE port and optional Wifi connectivity via the TF330's ESP8266 header. You may want to have it recapped or at least take a look at the motherboard and check for signs of leaking capacitors. If you like shoot-em-ups check out the Reshoot series (Reshoot, Reshoot-R, Rshoot 3 Proxima) All the best.

Thanks! Glad your CD32 did such good service. It is a surprisingly expandable machine.

Have to call you out on Super Methane Bros my friend! I put a load of extra music tracks from my back catalogue onto the game converted from Yamaha synths to dat tape and burned at the duplicators in Milton Keynes :)
There was also a mini cartoon added on the CD32 version and a few little bells and whistles, increased sound sample rates etc, but essentially the main bulk of the game was the same as the A500 edition.

I stand corrected! I have dug the machine and game back out and can confirm the cartoon intro. (No idea how I missed that!) Very kind of you to chime in and compliments on the excellent soundtrack found in this fun little game.

An ~Amiga on an LCD monitor oh my, if they'd have been available back in the day, imagine the cost. I bought a 20MB hard drive for my A500 and it was £160 and they say tech is expensive now! Really nice to see the CD32 still breathes, I always wanted one but never got around to it, but my A500 was a very long time passion.

Hard disks were crazy expensive back then. It was cheaper for me to sell my original A500 and get an A600HD than to buy a HD for the A500!

Jeff, very good, but I do get an inklin you are taking a bit of the mick. Very enjoyable.

As an Amiga enthusiast I was really looking forward to the cd32. I got my hands on an NOS one years ago and several cd32 in parts. It's actually a great and easy game machine. There are several game compilations made for it and there are even new games released on it. I have one standard hooked up with a HD and a game image so I have almost the whole Amiga game library ready to go.

It is definirely a very nice machine with decent expansion options. At the time Commodore produced a MPEG decoding card so you could play video CDs. I did not touch on this in the video as I never had one of them (they were rather pricey).

I was about to go and buy a CD32 just after they were launched, a friend told me one of our mutual friends had one and so we went around to our friends so I could have a look at it, I was disappointed, he had a Doom like clone that was terrible, the available games were not very good and most were the same games available on the other machines, for me it was just as disappointing as the CDTV.
I hung out and got a Japanese Playstation, it wasn't much longer that they were practically giving the CD32 away, I still didn't buy one!
I had an A500, A600,A1200 and a 1000 and 3000 and was seeing the end of the Amiga, at this point I crossed over to the PC with a 486DX and then a Pentium.

3D was certainly not a strength on the Amiga.

You have just described why the CD32 failed, Sony released a shed ton of very poor games for the CD32 prior to the PS launch, The Jury is out on why, but I think it was a pre-planned attempt to annihilate any potential competition.
