Night vision is a necessity, so is having an IR illuminator. Especially when you live in the middle of nowhere. Out here there's no lights, no ambient lighting, and on an overcast moonless night it is pitch black. In those conditions NODS don't do much without an IR illuminator. Good work fellas, keep it up.
I recently picked up a bridge from ryvan group that lets me bridge a pvs 14 with a flir breach thermal monocular. After playing with the margins for a while I was able to overlay the alert mode with a white phosphor tube. It’s a game changer.
Correct it’s adding yet another super power dude. Fusion or mixing thermals and nod capability is the future we will be covering that kind stuff also 👊🏼
The entire marine corps has had night vision (pvs 14’s) for several years. We are just recently getting a numerous amount of pvs 31’s spread throughout us

Best advise: call TNVC or HEAT and tell them your budget and what you need or ask what you need. These companies will get you set up with systems(helmet, mounts, nvg, LAM) so that you don’t spend hundreds or thousands of $ on things that aren’t compatible.

I have nmore fun doing non shooting things under NODs tbh. You guys need to start ripping some side by sides or snow mobiles under NODs. I tried to get my local ski resort to let me night ski under NODs butt hey weren’t hearing it.
The headache from wearing a pvs7 is absolutely bizarre and terrible. A mono over you no dominant eye is generally pretty good and makes it easy to use your rifle optic in twilight conditions.
The snot and ice just makes the beard even more glories, let the weekend start with the smell of cordite and dude stuff. Sitting by the fire drinking whisky and watching my man crush...and Jake. Shooting courses starts tomorrow.

Thank you for asking and actually knowing the camera and setup makes a world of difference. This is a CGS Hyperion K on a 11.5 556. You see some shots has spark some doesn’t. The reason is a multitude of things but it is no different then the FLASH other cans have. Trade offs man shave weight but have some sparks, keep the wait but still have flash cause suppressors never completely stop flash especially on first round pop. From the threats position down range you can’t tell one from the other and the sparking and flashing is a none issue 20m and further. 👊🏼

Also working with Jamie I found with the right padding inside the helmet you don’t need counter weights. Sounds crazy but counter weights are still WEIGHT his idea was go as light as possible with the proper padding and such and you can skip the weights. Just one idea we will cover several on the next couple videos
I have a question do you really need D Ball in order to work with the night vision system ? I am trying not to have that on my rifle for weight reasons Instead using a night vision reticle.
i only shoot CGS cans under nods is a none issue if you watch where jake is shooting compared to me his flash vs my sparking is almost identical in some shots. Not really an issue man 🤷♂
check minute 4:00-4:15 some shots sparking some none at all and also the camera will always make the sparking appear worse than the naked eye cause of how the camera picks up light compared to your eyes.
Some great points but I can’t really take this seriously after seeing not one extra way of retaining the device to the helmet outside of the mount! A lanyard and or a bungee for retraining your investment isn’t “cool guy stuff”. It’s just smart.
We cover that in the next video but the answer is whatever you feel works best for you. Arguments could be made either way but all the experts that helped with this video told me that also.
you guys should get a night vision nerd on here to explain the properties/specifications of an image intensifier tube and how each relates to practical performance in various lighting conditions. you're obviously trying to explain stuff that you don't have a solid grasp on yourselves, which is the opposite of your typical content.

It's like a super power that FEW can buy...because it's super expensive. I mean, sure, if people can afford MP5s and custom 1911s, then night-vision is a no brainer. But for 98% of us, it would be spending more than we can afford on something we won't likely use.
Chances are you won't use your carry pistol to defend yourself during your life time either. I agree it is super expensive but there's plenty of people out there who buy 10 PSA ARs at 500 a piece. And then say 5k for NV is to much.

That's why I don't carry a $2K carry pistol, but my CCW is the pistol I spend the most money on (though these days I've evolved from having a CCW and an HD/zombie pistol to just accepting the CCW can also do HD/Zombie duty). I can't afford more than one good carbine, but it's true there are people who throw away $5K on stuff they don't need or use that could be used to buy NV they don't need or use. ** I DO know people who are using NV and thermal for coyote and boar, but they also drive $80K trucks, whereas I drive a $5K car.

I could never get down with using my 14 over non dominant eye. I liked being able to shoot passively with the monocle on too.

You do not have to use a laser or IR light. The night vision setting on the optic you can see through the tubes. It’s just more labor intensive
