- So my Gastroparesis landed me in the Hospital so I ended up getting surgery where I woke up with a PEG and later got a PEG-J feeding tube. I hope you enjoy this Vlog.

Well, it's been a crazy week and my surgery is all done. as I am writing this I am now finally home from the hospital and recovering. Much Love to you all 💖
I've had a temporary placement of an NG tube last year while hospitalized for a month when my COPD got really bad and I ABSOLUTELY HATED IT...I only had it in for a couple of days but that was more than enough to convince me that I definitely don't want to go through that again much less needing a PEG tube.
I underwent a laparoscopic right hemicolectomy almost a year ago and developed an abdominal abscess shortly afterward and had to get a JP drain inserted for a few weeks so that was probably the closest I've gome to getting a PEG tube inserted.

I’m so glad that my JEY/REYJ is only in 3cm with my Mic -Key J so there’s now way it can flip. So I don’t have connecting tubes, I have two separate stomas. One for J and one for G. My Doc just said that the combined ones cause more complications ie flipping and he didn’t want that for me.

I was diag gastroparesis after an endoscopy went wrong and stomach was full still after 14hr fast. I have EDS but also type 1 diabetes so not sure which caused it. Had a gastric emptying test finally today (should have been done 2016!!). Reflux is evil as I couldn't take the reflux meds or motility meds. Fast came across your channel today. Life's Def sent to try us.

Your brother is just like mine haha. I hope you're able to recover quickly, I had my second abdominal surgery in January and I understand they are not easy to recover from. Hope that new tube helps you so much!

I am sorry you had to get a tube, but I am also very glad you hopefully will get stability in your nutrition. It can make all the difference in the world.
I got my GJ in the Summer of 2021. Agreed, people who say the tube placement surgery is never painful are liars! Lol. I’m glad you seem to be taken care of pain wise.
You will be so happy when you can convert it to a button. Your doctor may not tell you when you can, since to them the long tube is adequate. But it usually can be replaced as early as 6-8 weeks after the initial placement surgery.
Securing the tube so it doesn’t move around a lot will prevent granulation tissue, which can be very painful and messy. The long tube may be too heavy for the regular feeding tube securement devices. Extra large grip locks may work for you, but I found securement devices for Foley catheters worked better for me, so long as they had adhesive to hold the tube. Some people like abdominal belts, but those are difficult when it’s hot out. An extra large sized mesh, similar to the small ones used for IVs, can work well.
As you said, crop tops are your friend. I also sometimes tucked my shirt up under my bra underwire.
Lots of people love tubie pads, mine seem to keep my aroma too wet and cause irritation. Gauze seems to work better for me. Some people like nothing.

You are very brave and have g8 family support The Dr wants to give me similar surgery is only be able to eat through G tube nothing by mouth ever 😮including medications I refused the surgery continue to suffer in miserable mostly intolerable pain Morhine did nothing hardly Can't walk get outta bed without crying So I was interested what if I had surgery and what if that only makes condition worse or new problem that will be quality of life effected I'm too scared frozen in fear and pain 😢 Good luck upon you many blessings❤
