Omg that last few minutes???? What kind of coward does that? 😢 This by far is the most difficult episode to watch, my heart goes out to all the law enforcement people involved 💔
They left out the part about why the FBI decided to burst into the house. An officer guarding the perimeter accidentally fired his shotgun and they reacted to that. While of course Blackburn was responsible for the murders, it was a botched negotiation. I guess FBI files was hoping to sweep that under the rug
Bogus as hell, but you know this show purpose is to make them look good. They not going to say anything that'll possibly change that. The guy in this show looks nothing like the real guy either.
Botched or not, the blame for this and the death of those little girls, lays with their Father and Mother, no one else. He killed them because he didn’t want to face the consequences of his crime!
Or having snipers aiming on a completely random innocent family just cause they drove a similar vehicle... Glad one of the snipers didn't 'accidently discharge' their weapon.
@@MegaLouise62 Well they shouldn't have persisted in getting him to surrender knowing damn well he was suicidal and there is no way he would. At least for the sake of the children. They knew the children were in danger they are as responsible as he was.
He was a selfish narcissistic animal but I fear his relatives were afraid of him. Narcissists like to wield power and cause trouble. He probably targeted a weak co-dependent woman to get involved with. These women are so self involved in protecting their sense of security they really don't have a lot of love for their children either.
It’s both their fault. It’s a good thing she died. Human debris. A disgusting family - sister and brother aided these people as well. Unfortunate about the kids.
@@futuresum1671 How is the husband killing the children going to be categorized as manslaughter? It's murder. And nothing the cops did would ever come anywhere near even the idea of manslaughter. I think if we use hindsight and the situation was approached differently, everyone could have been saved. But in the end, the police and SWAT team followed established procedures - procedures that are reasonable - and ultimately it didn't work out because it turned out the guy had the kids in the room and that he had murderous intent for his family in this scenario. The police were not reckless in any way. The wife was. The children are victims that were stuck with horrible parents. The husband and wife were both criminals. The police were probably not even negligent here - I think it's hard for us to know otherwise.
Whether he got spooked by an accidental shot by an officer, Tim Blackburn set this whole mess in motion and took the coward's way out in the end. He alone is to blame for his family's fate.
46:05 according to the video, the police breached the door AFTER he had fired multiple shots. there was no accidental shot by an officer. what video were you watching?
His wife is to blame. She was the most foolish of them all. The man is in jail. He is an armed robber. Why help him escape and yet still, accompany him with the children?
I think you have to show some flexibility in order to save the kids. Hell, lie to him. Or let him go and put a tail on him and have a sniper take him out under a different situation.
"Coward's way out"? Self preservation is the strongest instinct had by any living organism. To overcome that and take your own life doesn't sound like cowardice to me. Maybe not bravery, but definitely not cowardice. The man was a heartless scumbag but to call suicide the "Coward's way out" dismisses so many sick, hurting, depressed people struggling with suicide. I say this as the last male of my family, both my father and brother committed suicide. So next time maybe choose your words more carefully or maybe say nothing.
Considering the extreme level of retardation and violence of both parents ...... just by genetics and upbringing, it wasn't much of a loss. It's harsh, but the chance of them growing up as functioning members of society was close to zero.
@@johnnabuzby6103 I didn't say they didn't deserve a chance. But the outcome of them growing up would very likely not be pleasant to anyone. I'm not heartless asshole, I'm just realist.
The FBI has taken a huge reputational blow over the past few years. They do good work but the closer it comes to politics the more tainted the agency becomes. I wish they could separate themselves from the politics and bust the politicians for corruption, but their own biases show through and many times they themselves end up being the corrupt ones.
The agents blew up all the great work they did in the end. Bad decison on their part. Once they knew he was inside of the apartment, they should've just waited until he comes out.
@@jemdew3123 I am talking about without announcing their presence. In other words, don't call the room to announce their presence, once they confirmed the wife was inside, after sending the security to knock on the door. I know the authorities said that this is what they usually do, and that the perpetrator (s) usually comply after knowing he/she/they are surrounded. But sometimes they do commit suicide after knowing they're surrounded and there is no escape. And personally, I didn't give a shit that the guy chose to take his life (and even that of his wife...who helped him escape from prison). The authorities had recover most of the money, anyways. But its the two innocent little girls that I was concerned about. And its sad that they ended up being killed.
Totally agree with u. Like u said the authorities said its normal procedure to ring the room but that should only be if the fugitive is on he's own. If there's potential hostages then deffo FBI should wait until he comes out without ringing the room then catch him unaware. What a fuck up on there behalf.
Or they should have got in straight. That phone call is useless. by involving his wife in this game, he showed that he didn't care about his family. He used them to escape from prison. And that Woman is soooo stupid! I bet a mother chicken is clever than her.
The squad knew that they were there. The approach in this scenario was inappropriate..they could have put surveillance and arrested them once they come out at their own time.
shows now a days would just be about FBI agents trying to subvert (R) presidents like Peter Strzok or FBI hassling patriots and arresting people for not wearing masks and wanting to work
FBI screwed up again (common theme with these episodes). Instead of calling the hotel room and creating a hostage situation they could have just waited for Blackburn to exit the room at some point and nabbed him.
The problem w/waiting for Blackburn is that they can’t have a SWAT team on standby for a week or more plus other Federal agents. But they needed those numbers since Blackburn was armed & had shot at ppl during his escape from jail. Both Blackburn & his wife were going to prison but it’s sad he killed his little girls.
No, it was the wild wife who didn't put her kids first. She helped her husband escape the jail like hell in a movie. She was using her kids as shield in the hotel room.

I have a feeling the wife was all in on dying she had to know that breaking him out would come to no good end and he made it clear that he was not going back to prison. Saturday morning in the Northern Peruvian Amazon Jungle, fresh episode of FBI files, what more do you want mate. Actually, I kind of wish I was in Vegas right now 😂😂😂
Wait for Blackburn to come out alone unknowingly or go in while he's asleep/tired/drunk, you gotta take children into consideration. You back up a beast into a corner, it does unthinkable or PREDICTABLE. FBI should've knew this is one of the possible and WORST OUTCOME.
What an ending this is to a tragic situation. And what kind of woman and mother will take her small children to be on the run with her scumbag husband to wind up dead. That was a very selfish act from her, so evil, such irresponsible behavior from both parents, they were only thinking for themselves and the money. Two innocent children lost their lives at the hands of their own parents. Sophia didn’t have to pull the trigger to kill their two girls, her actions as an irresponsible and selfish mother killed their two daughters. It was evilness at its very finest. May the little girls Rest In Peace always. They didn’t deserve to die that way, it was a brutal death committed by their father. Sad indeed.
He chose a life of crime and took his children down with him. What a selfish human being, the mother /wife could have saved her children but she was just as bad as he was otherwise, she could have left. She plotted his escape from the jail. She definitely got what she deserves.
since when has the authorities started making house calls to let dangerous criminals know their there and politely ask them to come out? what a stupid tunkin' idea. if they had bust down the door, they wouldn't have lost the element of surprise and probably had a high probability of eliminating him before he could kill the woman n his children.

I feel like the FBI is partly to blame for the death of the little girls. It was clear that this operation was very very risky. They should not have proceeded. They should have waited for another opportunity to get Blackburn.
FBI screwed this up. Tactical team should’ve breached while Blackburn was on the phone with the agent. They could’ve neutralized him and everyone else would’ve lived.
After watching this I went to bed and got up today still bothered by this episode. How could you kill your own children? How could the wife allow her children to be in this situation? Does money cause people to lose their mind, so much that they are willing to risk it all?

Form his pov killing his kids justified coz they've eventually ended up in foster home abused physically grown up poor and end up drug addict prostitute. The only thing that bothers me was his wife's decision to marrying a dumbfuk. Money is root of evil
Yeah, money can absolutely change people positively or bring out their intensely ugliness. Too bad most of the time it's for the worst as it goes to someone's head.
These people were screwed up much earlier in life than when they ran into money. They were both screwed up in early childhood Blackburn had a narcissistic personality and possible sociopathy besides. The wife had some type of co-dependent personality disorder with possible anti-social traits. You don't get this extreme after you become an adult. A normal person can be corrupted by money. These people were extreme therefore tgeir corruption had happened in early childhood. It took adulthood to be able to pursue money and what it could bring them that had already been desired.
A law enforcement officer accidentally fired his weapon. (By the way, there is no such thing as an accidental shot. It’s a negligent discharge. A person is responsible for every bullet that comes out of their weapon.) This triggered blackburn into action.
The part I don't understand is why the jail had a window that could be easily removed by taking out a few screws. If not for that there would be two more kids in the world.
If the guards at the jail had been better marksmen and more aggressive in their efforts to prevent Blackburn's escape, those kids would be alive today. As a retired infantryman, it's been my experience that DOC and BOP guards are among the worst shots on earth.
The wife was most likely also involved in the robbery. In the beginning of the video, the kidnapped cleaners claimed to hear a female voice from the walkie-talkie used by the robbers. My guess is not only the husband, but the wife also wanted to die from murder-suicide.

Such a narrow viewpoint from someone obviously vague to great achievements

Well they shouldn't have persisted in getting him to surrender knowing damn well he was suicidal and there is no way he would. At least for the sake of the children. They knew the children were in danger they are as responsible as he was.
That man's ego along with his wife and relatives enabling his escape and evasion, murdered those babies. Disgusting.
He was a selfish narcissistic animal but I fear his relatives were afraid of him. Narcissists like to wield power and cause trouble. He probably targeted a weak co-dependent woman to get involved with. These women are so self involved in protecting their sense of security they really don't have a lot of love for their children either.
This is a great concept She was a horrible mother but it could be fear or just that “I want that man syndrome”
FBI killed those kids....
It was Sofia's fault completely, she shouldn't have helped Tim escape the prison. That move wrote the destiny of her kids with blood.
It’s both their fault. It’s a good thing she died. Human debris. A disgusting family - sister and brother aided these people as well. Unfortunate about the kids.
Your analysis is typical idiotic stupidity. No way her action justifies cops assisted manslaughter result of 2 innocent children hostages.
@@futuresum1671 say whatever you want to say, give cleanchit to her but nothing will change the facts I quoted.
She was loyal to her husband and the police terrorist resolution was at fault.
I wish you guys can reboot this show and film it with the 90s early 2000s vibes. I can watch these all year
Whether he got spooked by an accidental shot by an officer, Tim Blackburn set this whole mess in motion and took the coward's way out in the end.
The mother too honestly

The FBI has taken a huge reputational blow over the past few years. They do good work but the closer it comes to politics the more tainted the agency becomes. I wish they could separate themselves from the politics and bust the politicians for corruption, but their own biases show through and many times they themselves end up being the corrupt ones.
They should have told Tim that they will transfer his case to California and it's almost a sure thing he will be out in 60 days....
The agents blew up all the great work they did in the end. Bad decison on their part. Once they knew he was inside of the apartment, they should've just waited until he comes out.

I am talking about without announcing their presence.

No, if money caused the problem there'd be a lot of dead children in the world. These people are mentally forced. And that's my official diagnosis.
