Rainbow -- Street Of Dreams :: Lyrics :: I heard the sound of voices in the night
Spellbound there was someone calling
I looked around no one was in sight
Pulled down I just kept on falling
I've seen this place before
You were standing by my side
I've seen your face before tonight
Maybe I just see what I want it to be
I know it's a mystery
Do you remember me on a street of dreams
Running through my memory
On the street of dreams
There you stood a distant memory
So good like we never parted
Said to myself I knew you'd set me free
And here we are right back where we started
Soemthing's come over me
And I don't know what to feel
Maybe this fantasy is real
Now I know I see what I want it to be
But it's still a mystery
Do you remember me on the street of dreams
Running through my memory
On the street of dreams
You are on every face I see
On the street of dreams
Tell me have you always been
On the street of dreams
Will we ever meet again my friend
Do you know just what it meand to be
On the street of dreams
Never know just who you'll see do ya
On the street of dreams
You can be who you want to be oh yeah
I can hear you calling me
I can feel you haunting me
Ok what the hell just happened?
I’m 55 sitting here and all of a sudden I want to hear rainbow out of nowhere?
This song is barely thought of but I’m here now.
It happens to many of us 😎
Raymond, welcome to your Street of Dreams!
I just turned 56 and same here. Great song still.
Me too! 2024...
51 years old, the world rushes past with iphones in hand and heads down each day. Selfies twitter and reality television keeps the pod people in place. Midnight where I am right now and I sit alone watching this song while my family sleeps. Alone in my thoughts but not the only one. Where is the poetry in today's music, where is the art in today's cold world. What simplified us to a funniest troll with the rudest comment wins his moment in the sun society. When did we decided we cant leave the house without our technology. Did video kill the radio star or did we all plug into skynet and get washed away. No matter, they cant take my memories.
Joe Lynn Turner is a vastly underappreciated singer.
Strongly agree
Yeah, the first 'emo' in pop music.
Underrated, I agree
joe rules on the street of dreams
Agree 💯 percent
Ritchie Blackmore stated that "Street of Dreams" is one of his favourite Rainbow songs. I heard this song around 1983 and in 2021 still enjoy it
Listen to Blackmore’s Night
Also “Catch the Rainbow 🌈 “. Live in Munic with Ronnie James
Can't believe it this band is not in the hall of fame

the only bad part of this song is when it ends...a true masterpiece
Yes, it shouldn't end, should continue with guitar solo for 1 minute.
No truer words have been said.
😢
Beautiful story of how he met his wife...Moscow❤ Joe and Dio..Great singers, if they ever did a duet together, would have been awesome.

Long live the 80's and all of us so very, very, fortunate to experience those glorious years.
80ies had a lot of crap though, its just that we remember only the good music and filtered out all the crap
I feel the same way. We were so very fortunate.
@@pflaffik The 80's had more crap than good music....(but there was really some good music)
@@pflaffik As compared to the crap today?!? The 80's were a better time, it just wasn't so disruptive.
Yes, it was not sustainable, but i'd take that over the shit we have today.
I agree. Not to mention the seventies.
The people of the class of 83,84,85 & 86 know what's up with this song. Long live the 80's and Joe Lynn Turner 💫
Class of 88' here and I was rockin' this when I was 13 or 14. Brings back a lot of memories of me discovering all of this mind blowing music in the 80s. Good times...
Anyone who graduated in the 80’s knows this song. I was an army ranger in 83. Graduated in 82. Great time for music! Unlike the vomit that comes out today.
@@paulredinger5830Thank you for your service. ‘88 graduate, here. Music was unreal in the 70’s/80’s, and has stood the test of time. Nothing like it today.

Amen!

How about a decade back to the 80's?
Joe Lynn Turner has a great voice. Smooth, but gritty and powerful at the same time. Perfect for this track.
The best thing about picking a best Rainbow singer is that there is no wrong answer!
vigor01 that's wrong, DIO is incomparable
yes, DIO rules
Dio fanboys are annoying.
@@xmandlt True
I mean no disrespect to any of the singers for Rainbow, but despite the fact Dio had a great voice, he was kind of arrogant. I read that he and Ritchie got into a fight over something as trivial as Ritchie being on the front of a magazine
This is the video I remember watching early in the morning late 83 or early 84 before I walked to my bus stop. Memories of 8th grade and no cares in the world. Good times.
+winogirlll Yeah, when this album came out it, it was all I listened to for around a whole month. I too was in 8th grade.
+winogirlll I first heard this on a K-Tel Metal Masters LP. People my age will know what I'm talking about. It had Zebra on it is all of all things. I like Dio Rainbow but have a big soft spot for Bent out of Shape and Straight Between the Eyes.
I think I had that album but I thought it was called Masters of Metal. I just remembered I played the hell out of it.
rainbow rocks
Well said...I used to put my headphones on at night and fall asleep relaxing to these jams, they would just let the bullshit of the day float away.

Joe Lyn is the ultimate ballad-worthy rock singer, regardless of decade.
2024. This popped in my head all of a sudden. When I was 10 we had mtv playing nonstop and this video was on all the time. For some reason my brain just remembered "that one really trippy video with the beds in the street" that I used to like. So I had to look it up. Classic song. Good times.
Ritchie Blackmore is a phenomenon . Happy birthday Ritchie
I got no words for this priceless masterpiece by rainbow. Great vocal.
This song just gets better with time.
Its a Jam!
Yeah the whole album was amazing with songs like this one, Can't let you go, Desperate heart, Anybody there and Snowman 🤩
This song depressing miss everyone I love make me think about give up on life
This is one of the few rock songs that's so good it gives you chills. This song haunts you.
Exactly.. I had a friend die in a car accident at the time this song was popular and I immediately made a instant connection between the song and perhaps seeing him again in another world
Great song that really makes me miss the early '80s and everything that went along with it.
Interesting how Rainbow kept morphing with its various lineups.
I love Rainbow 🌈 this song is one of my favorites ❤️ stay safe everyone and have a good day 😘🤟
This video is awesome. This song is so romantic. Joe has an amazing voice, and Richie amazing guitar playing. I listen to this song over an over, it's so good. Thank you Rainbow🤗😘

One of my favorite songs in my earlys. Where has the time gone??
I know right 83 really wasn't long ago to me anyway maybe the fast lane done it to me but now I'm older I still jam it with the grand kids lol.
MTv before school in the 80s..... great times, great music, great memories, NO worries! 💙💜💚✌
😍
When MTv was a music channel...
What part of the country.. We were doing the exact same thing in New Haven Connecticut...yes no worries great time to be young
No cable, no MTV..... just had to wait until it came on the radio.
Yes they were
I'm 65, still love this song. I truly feel sorry for kids today and what they call "music"
I have the cassette & cd, its packed away in storage. This song rang so true when it came on the radio, as we drove down the same street my 19 y/o son passed in auto accident, omfg, the timing and hearing the lyrics split me in 2. It's been 3 years since he passed, it's taken me this long to look up song & add to my Playlist. The emotion is still raw, every word has meaning, it strikes a deep chord and it's timeless. It's a personal song now.....played in private 💔 💔 💔
Sorry for your loss. This song is haunting in a lot of ways to different people.
@@georgeabrams7345 thank you, it does strike a chord in all of us. Music is a profound connection, sometimes a direct line memory to when we first heard a song.

Condolences for your loss - that is heartbreaking to hear and unimaginable to even begin to comprehend from a father of two young adults. Joe Lynn Turner is UNDER rated.
I personally prefer JLT with Rainbow over Graham Bonnet. For me it goes Dio >> JLT >> Graham Bonnet.
Well said!!
An underrated and mindblowing singer
The most elegant Rock Singer!
Dio the best though
Back when Friday Night Videos was the thing to watch.

This song is so melodic !! Perfect for Joe Lynn Turner's voice, some will say it's too poppy but I love it !!
it is for my grandmother who listened to this masterpiece. I love you, and i c u again

The great voice of Joe Lynn Turner backed by the excellent guitar of Richie Blackmore made for great music. This recording is hauntingly beautiful!
Love all era's of Purple/Rainbow and everything Blackmore related. This has to be one of the most catchy and accessible Rainbow songs, love the bass line groove also from Roger Glover. Especially loved JLTurner with Yngwie on the ODYSSEY record a couple of years after this.
Hearing this for the first time in 30 years. Bringing back a lot of emotion. Thank God for all of this.

Such a great "Thinking" song.
This just might be the best power ballad from the 80s.

Blackmore said this was his favourite rainbow song
It must be because he rerecorded it with Blackmores Night, twice - one version featuring Joe Lynn Turner on vocals
I just watched him saying it in this interview which made me come here and listen to the song again. ua-cam.com/video/0axmGyzuOUM/v-deo.html
Great song, great vocals, very melodic. Richie got what he wanted, a pop hit. His legendary guitar skills are barely heard, it is all keyboard and vocals.
I adore the trilogy STRAIGHT BETWEEN THE EYES, DIFFICULT TO CURE & BENT OUT OF SHAPE..... All MASTERPIECES ahead of their time
I love this song! one of the best of Bent out of shape album... I really liked the J. Turner voice!!!
It's in "Bent out of shape" (1983)
stratosl I had confusion and I corrected it, thank you!
Amazing Rainbow moment..
Joe Rocks..
This had to be the baddest tune of that era.
The melody on top of the chord progression is genius. That's the magic to good song writing. Same as a good jazz solo. Use all the notes in the chord to solo/ sing over.
