I got hands-on with the new Fuji X100VI on the day it was announced in Japan and took my new friends out and about for some night street photography. With limited time due to the X-Summit schedule, we raced to Shimbashi and then went back out for a super late night evening in Yurakuchō and Shinjuku.
This was such a fun evening nerding out with so many different cameras and making new friends - one of the things I'm eternally grateful to have experienced as a result of this UA-cam channel. Hope you enjoy it!

Hi Joe, I've been a big fan of the channel for a long time (I bought my Fuji X100F after watching your review many years ago). Always love these video's, they're just so well made and I catch myself binging your content whenever I have the chance. I make a very different type of content, but if you'd be up for it, I'd love to meet up in Japan in April or early May! (Your Japanese is sounding good btw!)
Tokyo, the ultimate street photography city. Between the action, swarms of people, neon lights everywhere, rain and stunning Japanese aesthetics in the world's largest urban center, you can't really beat it.

Honestly wished I could have got it out sooner, but unfortunately I got the camera only a day before announcement, unlike everyone else on the internet who’s had it for months now. Still grateful to have had hands on for a couple days at least 🙏

Thanks man! I have very fond memories of the G7X - the original was a solid build. It’s a shame it never really got updated much as time went on. Very different camera for sure, but one of the best for just “telling your story”
@@joeallam really going back and forth about the miii. Aufofocus seems to be improved and for run and gun nice, would love to see an update but can’t see canon do that..
On the other hand the Fuji is tempting but right now still hard to get. Great to have those problems though 😂😂

I’m envious you have your hands on a X100VI.
I preordered on February 20th. There was a problem with checkout at B&H and I lost six hours. As a result I may not receive my camera until the summer. So sad.
I’m amazed at how much light there was on the street. It was almost like daylight.

It makes a huge difference for sure! But likewise can be a great feeling to go out alone and have nothing but photography on your agenda!

Yep! I use the X100 series as my “social” camera. I love the JPEGs that come out and the filter just adds an extra bit of optical interest without any effort

Great vid. Did you say it it's hard to know if you have taken the shot? The x100v and previous made a tiny click - has that gone? Hope not.
My X100F leaf shutter had a noticeable mechanical sound. I didn't really use the X100V enough to have memory of how it was. This X100VI was literally silent, even in mechanical shutter mode. It felt like electronic shutter mode. To the point that I asked Fujifilm directly if mine was broken, but they said it was all working as expected. I dunno though, still feels like a firmware bug...

It’s from YC Onion. I got it off eBay. It’s a really cool hood. Molded after the look of the hood for XF18mm f/2. It suits the camera so well!

I use the Black Pro mist 1/8 all the time. I like the Cinebloom 20% too, but it’s *very strong* in some scenes.

Hey Joe I will be in Osaka end of the month. Been trying to contact you to meet up for a beer or lunch. I tried on instagram but you didn't respond. I cancelled my order due to the fact they went with the same battery and lack of D-pad again. I'll stick with my Q3. Can't wait to check it out soon in japan. Cheers.
There's not much that surpasses photography in Tokyo, at least for me. Last year's vacation ended up in about 400+ edited final images out of like 4000 exposures :-D
No need Cinebloom filter for x100VI. Lense is soft otherwise (unfortunately).
That’s actually not accurate according to another UA-camr that ran tests.
@@dccoletrain Wait for comparison against 2019 GRIII (you will be surprised!). Fuji improved the lens in X100V but lags way behind competition. True reviewers are asking for further improvement now that we have a 40mp sensor.
