One thing I love about this movie is how the main characters don't look invincible or able to kill guys with one punch. They don't look like "I'm gonna beat some sense into the bad guys", Rama and Eka both look like they're fighting for their lives, and the fight scene in the car takes forever because it really isn't easy to knock someone out.
Also Eka later dies because of his wounds. It shows that these characters we care about don’t have that plot armor most action movies fail to recognize and therefore we can invest ourselves in the scene more.

That was the best car chase I've seen in a minute, and the scene where Eka swerves at the last moment to let the other driver run head first into the concrete bumper was insane. I gotta get these movies and watch them all the way through in context, I've been terrible about that.

i watched it again a couple of days ago, and still think is the best action saga so far. I mean Die hard is great, but The raid took everithing to another level. Sorry John Wick and Mission Imposible but The RAid is my favorite so far.

I saw bts of the scene, they explain that seat beside Eka used CGI effect to hide 2nd cameramen, so they passed the camera from one to another to make perfect shot, its not all perfect, after that explanation, I saw indeed the seat beside Eka look strange, not too good also not too bad I thougt

Deadpool 1 clearly got inspired from this highway chase. Many shots from the Deadpool 1 highway chase are eerily similar. I don't get why nobody is mentioning it.
'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' was heavily inspired from The Raid 1's fighting too. What's shameful is that CATWS went on to compete against The Raid 2 at the Box Office because it came out around the same time. Most action movies since TR1 and TR2 came out have been directly influenced by them to some extent or another but they never publicly give credit to The Raid.
Most of the best action movies aren't in English. I recommend you check out some Chinese and French ones too, now that you've seen these Indonesian movies.

I'm impressed with the spontaneity and fight choreographies of Asian cinema, great martial artist knew how to deal very well with 4 and inside a car on top, now tell me who's fast and furious here who? I'm rooting for a raid 3.
It's mind blowing they were able to make this detailed and prolonged fight scenes on the street of Jakarta which was notorious for its traffic jam before the pandemic.
I keep showing theese movies to my friends cause i can't recommend them enough! The budget, the actors, the cinematics, the fighting scenes and yes, even the simple but understandable story. Maybe it's just me but i would prefer 10 more of theese movies then one more Jon Wick
They weren't friends. Eka was betrayed by his boss' son who killed his own father (the boss) to take power and tried to have Eka and Rama executed to cover it up since they witnessed it.

Gareth Evans got a great eye for action scenes. If this was handled by somebody else it wouldnt be that exciting. The choreography of the car chase is very simple but so well done and visceral.
Wow, that was an intense action set piece. And the music very much reminded me of the great music that was with the Russian car chase scene in the Bourne Supremacy. Very much enjoyed this scene and movie. Really top notch stuff. What a great Director this is who directed these 2 Raid movies. Really making a name for himself. Personally, I would love for the Director of this movie to tackle the next James Bond movie. If there is one of course.

This series immortalizes Gareth Evans forever.
Gareth Evans got a great eye for action scenes. If this was handled by somebody else it wouldnt be that exciting. The choreography of the car chase is very simple but so well done and visceral.

Wow, that was an intense action set piece. And the music very much reminded me of the great music that was with the Russian car chase scene in the Bourne Supremacy. Very much enjoyed this scene and movie. Really top notch stuff. What a great Director this is who directed these 2 Raid movies. Really making a name for himself.
Personally, I would love for the Director of this movie to tackle the next James Bond movie. If there is one of course.
