I'm sorry, what does god have to do with this? why is their talk of religion and god in a lecture about memory? what about the people who don't believe in god and don't feel like having a religious talk in their learning environment? Especially when religion has nothing to do with this topic. Please stay neutral when teaching classes because this is a world where not everybody believes in god or cares about religion.
Why are people butt hurt to hear God? If it ain't for you then take up and be on your way. We are children of God, whether his creation believes or not.
