Totally unbiased Oilers fan here… Hyman was inured for like 6 games lol. And yes he had a slower start in terms of point production to start the season but he was doing everything but scoring, bounces not going his way, etc. Very surprised to not see him on team Canada after last year, especially with his chemistry with McDavid. Bouchard not making the roster makes more sense because they needed to balance out OFD with DFD, but still kinda sucks considering he finished top 5 in Norris voting last year and is great on the PP with Mcdavid Skinner making it was a 50/50 for me. On one hand he’s struggled with consistency and allowing many goals off the rush. But on the other hand he got the team to 2 goals away from winning it all, and proved that he can definitely steal a game (shutout against LA in round 1 and robbed Dallas in game 6 of the WCF to advance to the final). Not really surprised he didn’t make it but still a little disappointed. Also shoutout to Ekholm and Arvidsson for making team Sweden
All things considered, Id have taken; Scheifele, Wilson and Logan Thompson over Cirelli, Jarvis and Binnington (or whoever). Eklund and Zetterlund over Nyquist and Arvidsson. Tage Thompson, Robertson over Kreider and Nelson. Maybe Caulfield over Trocheck. Tolvanen over Teravainen.
Thompson over Montembault would’ve been more likely then Binnington, the others were added to build out a balanced roster, but when you are having a best on best tournament, then yes you are right about who should have made it
