    Them not picking Logan Thompson is an absolute abysmal Canadian decision. It is clear that politics are playing a role in the selection in some of the players.

      @@ricefarmer42069 Too old and slow, that's why. Despite his size (6-3), Carlson isn't particularly good at defending either. He's a PP specialist and USA has plenty of younger, faster players to choose from.

      He has had only one good tournament on the men's stage though. So hard to say that he has always been a beast. He has only been to two. In the juniors he was great though.

Unlike u, I have watched all his games for Finland so I think I know better than u how he has played. Like I said one good men's tournament and in that one he was a beast. The last tournament he was on, he played pretty weak...

    “Eklund maybe more of a skill softer guy” he’s actually improved his two way game a lot. He uses his speed and body positioning very well to win puck battles. He also isn’t afraid to use his body despite being a smaller player. He’s also great on the PK.
    I feel like people look at his height and the stat sheet and just assume he’s some offense only, small skill guy. He could definitely grind it out on the 4th line wing for this team Sweden roster

    Trocheck is arguably the best center face-off guy in the league. Plays gritty hockey and is good on both sides. Proven playoff performer. I know he is struggling but he is very valuable.

    I'd take Thompson over Kreider and Trochek.
    Agreed on Eklund being a big miss.
    Don't think Hyman or Bedard deserve it. Would definitely have Bouchard or Weegar over Sanheim regardless. Montembeault is a weak choice IMO.

      Bouchard is a really good offensive dmen but he don’t gonna have pp time in this team (maybe if he was on the second pp but im not sure that the second pp will have a good toi) and he is not really reletable in the defensive zone
      In an tournament like that, if you have already a guy that run your pp (Makar) you dont pick a dmen that gonna be pretty bad in the d zone

      I'd take Keller over Guentzel, that's for sure. Keller is a far better skater and playmaker. He drives play. Guentzel is rather static. Just hangs out by the net and scores a lot. That said, I'd take Tage Thompson over both of them. How the hell can USA pass on a 6-6 center with 13 goals in 20 games!? Smh...

      @@zestplays I know exactly how Guentzel performs under pressure. I've been watching him play hockey since his days at Hill-Murray High School. I'm not at all outraged at his selection. I just don't understand how he gets chosen over Keller...a guy with a superb Team USA pedigree, captain of his team and a driver of play. Or, Thompson...a 6-6 monster center with an absolute bomb of a shot. Guentzel has a lot of value. Just see others as having more.

      @JM-gj7de Clayton Keller played for team USA in the under 18s that’s not even remotely close to a Stanley Cup Playoff Game so I wouldn’t classify it as superb USA pedigree.

      @@zestplays Clayton Keller is ranked 4th in total points (189) for the U.S. National Team Development Program, behind only Jack Hughes, Cole Eiserman and Will Smith. He played for USA at the 2017 World Junior Championships and won a GOLD MEDAL...in Canada, no less! Furthermore, he's played for USA at the World Championships on two occasions. Doesn't get much better when it comes to having a USA hockey pedigree. By comparison, Jake Guentzel has done fuck all for his country. Nothing. Zero. Nada.

    Hampus Lindholm, when healthy, is an unbelievable defenseman who absolutely deserves a spot here. He had a phenomenal start to this season, easily the best Bruin to start the year. He hasn’t played in over a month and the B’s have been absolutely worse off since.

    Say Kreider shouldn’t be on the team all you want but at limited even strength minutes he’s perfect for this USA team. Solid defensively with some speed and skill on the 4th line. Park him in front of the net on the power play and play him on the penalty kill and you will get good results. He’s a gamer.

    Pretty disrespectful not picking a single capital player, they’re at the top of the eastern conference and they have players having really strong season. Strome top 10 in points in the entire league, John Carlson is still an absolute beast, Logan Thompson has better stats/play than all of these Canadian goalies

    Sanheim has been good offensively for Philly, he’s an excellent skater, can play both sides, great defensively. I understand that’ll weegar shout but Yh. Horrible seeing some of the sanheim hate on twitter. Parayko is more of a shock than sanheim imo.

    To be fair Sanheim is better than parayko and pietrangelo and is similar to Theodore. Sanheim also plays the right side as a left d and is very good at playing the off side. Agree with your Nelson take though dude is a consistent 30 and 30 + guy on an offensive decrepit team

    Feel like Suzuki still would be a better 4th line C then Cerelli. Maybe I need to watch more tbl but I mean Suzuki would do a lot as a great faceoff taker. Solid shooter and passer. And also very solid for pk. And no this isn't me just saying every Hab deserves a spot. I still think Armia and Monty were probably the 2 worst picks respectfully

      Cirelli and Suzuki are both great players that are about the same level. The reason why Cirelli was picked is the chemistry between him and Hagel. Might have the best chemistry in the league tbh.

      @@4u2nvHock3y Cirelli has always been better on defence than Suzuki 😂. Also there is the fact that Cirelli is a role player which makes his point amount less. Cirelli has experince on winning and is usually taking the defensive faceoffs. 1st lines are always thrown into the offensive faceoffs and also Suzuki gets more icetime. Cirelli has better tool kit for a tournament like this. I love Suzuki and had him going too. But I too would have chosen Cirelli over him all day every day. And again the Hagel Cirelli chemistry is a huge factor as well.

      @matthewschoen3D Far better goaltending obviously but outside of that I think they have much better defence and better forward depth. The forward starpower obviously favours Canada, but it’s not like the US doesn’t have starpower. Matthews - J. Hughes - M. Tkachuk - Q. Hughes as the top 4 players on top of the insane depth they have I’d lean USA for forwards as well
      Canada is structured better if this was an 82 game NHL regular season, but personally i think people are overvaluing that. I’d rather have 12 all stars than a “gritty fourth line” in a 4 team tournament. The fact that Tage Thompson and Clayton Keller would both easily make team Canada proves that.

    Team USA players are all top tier 2 talent, nothing spectacular.. other than the goalies. Their best player (Mathews) as well as the goalies disappear when the games get intense and meaningful in the playoffs. The US is a good middling team with potentially great goalies. Whereas Canada is a great team throughout with middling goaltenders and a couple of middle level defensemen.

    As a biased Canadian I think Canada still easily wins this tournament. USA is really strong and Canada’s goaltending scares me but Canada is just gonna want it more especially McDavid because it’s his first best on best tournament playing for Canada and Sid because it might be his last
