I discovered Weird Al when he put out 8 videos in 8 days for his album, Mandatory Fun, in 2014. I was devastated from a series for horrible tragedies in my life. Nothing could pull me out of my grief and loss, until I heard his funny and amazing songs. I've now been to 4 of his concerts and listen to his 14 albums all the time. Because so much humor is mean spirited and vulgar, Al was a breath of fresh air that made me laugh and feel positive.

Since Dr Demento in the mid-70s, I’ve adored his music and he and his band’s ENORMOUS talent. And, seeing Mr Yankovic on various shows, the greatest thing about him is his kindness and decency as a human being. The world is better because he is in it. My husband and I were lucky enough to see him live a couple years ago, and my husband - honestly not much of a fan and a hard core classic rock and roll fan - agrees it was truly one of the best concerts he’s seen live. Thank you for this interview - I’m such a fan-girl, at 61 years old! : ) He truly brings such joy, and his band is so tight and together!
Al, I'm a 68 year old combat vet from 13.5 years of true combat and your music brings me back from the brink sometimes. It is wonderful to hear the parodies and experience them. I know where it comes from, different aspects of life which most people never see.
First saw Weird Al when my Dad brought a VHS home from the Video store. UHF. Funniest and most ahead of it's time movie ever. Absolute loved it then and now. Conan the Librarian " do you not know the Dewey decimal system " . Listened to all his tracks since, which are really well made . Just listened to smells like nirvana again. Al by the way is looking really well and healthy in this vid.
I frigging love that guy. He never fails to make me laugh or smile. And think... oddly enough some of his comedy is socially relevant. And the sheer brilliance, talent, and dedication to his art is just amazing.

Did Weird Al just say that this pandemic has made him Highly Inactive? Also, I'm not surprised that Weird Al is still around. His band is fantastic, have a great sound... and his lyrics are so much more intelligent than those of the songs he parodies. Even when he's just joking around, I mean, you don't find super obvious rhymes. And his originals on his Mandatory Fun album were really smart as well. He walked right up to is and just kicked it with us for a few with some photos and chit chat. Told the venue guys to chill these were his fans. It was great. He is great.

I grew up with Weird Al as a Boy Scout now Eagle Scout and many years later I'm glad to still see him still making music. I wish I could have the opportunity to meet Weird Al.
People such as Al and the cartoonist made such impact through their creativity and joy.. The cartoonist mentioned opened the world of classical music for me as a child. The cartoons of that era were backed musically with famous classical music pieces. I ran around the house humming and singing parts from operas and symphonies. Of course they were from the view of a rooster and his hens or a cat chasing a canary whom thought he saw a putti tat. It is so sad these creative geniuses would feel their works of art had no value. Al's parodies are so creative musically of course but also in their expression and literal reworking of the words. Al has brought pure joy and laughter in times of sorrow, sometimes restoring love of life. It seems to me he is ioverlooked in one area, since it is so obvious, he has an excellent voice and range with the ability to sing just about anything. All this is true, but most of all that has touched my heart and life, is his basic decency. He is the nicest person, as shown throughout his life by his generosity to those in need. He is positive and encouraging and enables us to laugh with him but not at anyone. Somehow you know he could but would not do so.Thank you Al. Cannot wait for your next song, but thanks also for the memories.
