Beautiful work! When I was in high school...8..9 years ago, we did this song in our Concert Choir. It was fantastic fun to perform. You guys did great!
BRAVO!! BRAVO!! BRAVO!! It warms my heart to hear a youth chorus comitting 100% to the classics!! Both chorus and soloists have beautiful sound, ensemble, intonation is wonderful (ah, youth), diction is impressive. Lovely, musical performance!!
Handel's Messiah predates this by a good 40 years, and Handel was long dead by the time this was first sung, so I'm guessing Mozart ripped Handel off a bit...
I just found some info on that. According to ChoralWiki at www3.cpdl.org/wiki/index.php/Regina_coeli,_KV_276_(Wolfgang_Amadeus_Mozart) "it is unlikely that Mozart knew [Handel's] Messiah in 1779." It may be that Mozart simply chose a similar riff on accident.
It was probably a different composer, in that case. If you're certain it was Mozart, it might have been one of his two earlier settings of the Regina Coeli (either K.108 or K.127).
If you are going to split hairs, you've got it wrong! In the Antiphon it's Ora pro nobis [ separate words pro [] nobis ] and out of ultimate respect for God he should always be capitalised i.e. Deum [capital D] when singing Mozart for those who have a monastic or Traditional Catholic history, this nonsense wouldn't even arise as we know instinctively that Ora Pro and Nobis are all words in their own right and it is anathema to think they are joined!
Malaquiel was referring to 2:55, where instead of singing "pronobis deum, pronobis deum" they instead sang "Ora pronobis, pronobis deum", which is incorrect according to the score.
We sang this when I was in high school choir. Good job!
KellyOnCaminoFrances I’m singing this for middle school choir very challenging 😂😂
Great sound! Soloists are great. So evenly balanced. Pleasure to listen to!
God it makes me cry how beautiful this is

Am I the only one that heard a major nod to the Hallelujah Chorus?

O Queen of Heaven, rejoice! Alleluia! For He whom you did merit to bear, Alleluia, has risen as He said. Pray for us to God. Alleluia!
I remember singing this wonderful peace in college. The Butler Chorale! Liked, shared and subscribed. :)
In elementary we sang this in a choir competition. We were all boys. It was majestic.
I sang this in choir in high school. I had most of the tenor solos.

I was reading the official score as well as listening and at the part you are thinking they did not mess up. so De'Ron McDaniel your good on that one.
Acrimoniousness
We sang this in chorus ("Regina Coeli") but the tune and many of the words were different. I have yet to find the rendition that we interpreted.

1 person doesn't like Mozart and Mary. No offense to other religions.
