Living Water

Jeremiah had a tough ministry - preach to people that will not listen. Yet, the LORD, in his mercy, sent Jeremiah to the people of Judah. He preached direct law to pierce into the peoples' hearts.
That law can still pierce into our hearts that desperately need it because we wander. We wander after sources that cannot provide us with living water. These sources are cheap replacements, broken cisterns as Jeremiah said.
But the law wakes us up and brings us to repentance - to acknowledge our sinfulness and trust in the LORD for forgiveness. Forgiveness that he freely gives us. Forgiveness that is the living water that he provides.
