I'm as big a Pat McAfee fan as anyone. I have backed him on a lot that he said that pissed people off. On this one, Pat is talking directly out of his ass. If he had done even the minimum research on this subject, he never would have recorded this show. Guaranteed. Be better next time, Pat.
Anyone who has a problem with Prince Harry getting that award, stop repeating what you heard other people, who themselves did zero research, said and spend a few minutes looking up his military service, and his work with veterans groups around the world. And then apologize. As far as his military record goes. There is one, and only ONE member of the royal family who has fired his weapon in combat. Harry. Not his father, not his brother. While they wore their uniforms for photo ops, weddings and funerals, Harry VOLUNTEERED for and served 2 tours in a front line combat unit in Afghanistan. And refused combat pay as wel. He wanted to go back, but the Queen refused to let him. Since his service ended, he's used his position and celebrity to advocate for veterans and veterans causes all over the world. It was Prince Harry who founded and served as chair of the Invictus Games, literally the Olympic Games for wounded and disabled veterans. Held every year for the last decade, the Invictus Games bring together disabled vets from all over the world to compete in various sports. There have been athletes competing against one another in the Invictus Games whose countries were still at war. Harry has been considered for the NOBEL PRIZE for his work with veterans causes. As far as American veterans causes go, there is again, ONE and only ONE AMERICAN celebrity who has put more time, resources, and spotlight on AMERICAN veterans groups and causes than Prince Harry has. Tom Hanks. Anyone who does even the most basic research knows that he deserves it. If Prince Harry's military record and resume in terms of advocacy does not qualify him to receive this award, then nobody deserves this award. THIS wounded American veteran says Congratulations Prince Harry. You earned it.

The way to protest any decision is not watching, or spending your money..
ESPN doesn't care why you watch, they just want you to watch!!
    So, if you're unhappy?
It's best to not watch the ESPY's, or you're just contributing to higher ratings for the show
