Imo Nintendo just needs to get a Web design team to set up a Smash tournament site where you can apply for a license. Set out clear rules on what them and the community consider fair as a requirement and then if you pass the criteria then you can run events for let's say 2 years before needing to reapply. This gives Nintendo the control they want, gives the community safety as they know their event won't get cancelled last minute and makes everything clear for both sides

I have NEVER seen any marketing for Smash Bros....this game lives on the grassroots tournament scene. This game is ONLY huge because of the Fandom....INSPITE of Nintendo. So heartbreaking
Not surprised that Nintendo has struck again, but the timing of the circuit's cancellation was disheartening, and it happened on the same day as the Super Mario Movie Direct launch. Also, the Panda Global CEO attempting to monopolize the Smash esports scene was very deplorable, especially when he allegedly threatened tournament organizers to face event shutdowns if they refused to include their tournaments into the Panda Cup. This whole controversy made me realize that the Panda Controller was the Trojan Horse all along that reeled Smashers into this "Nintendo-licensed" circuit. To quote from an old movie: "The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist."

so they can't broadcast the event, because it infringes IP. but would they be able to give us a commentary stream and use the slippi broadcast feature to broadcast the gameplay? i think this would be a really interesting way to go full scorched earth on the "F nintendo" front, encourage people download slippi, and also funnel viewership to smaller streamers rebeoadcasting the event on their own accord without SWT broadcasting a single image of the IP. that way you can stay 100% within the confines of the C&D while still holding the event. i think this would be a good contingency plan to set up for the future, when this inevitably happens again.

Still not to a 100% sure if this was Alan's fault but the way he treated TO's and figure heads because Panda's lineup wasn't great into attaching themself to every SWT event like a virus combo is the most convincing argument for me to not watch the cup on the terrible produced twitch channel anyways. From what I've heard, many of the MPGR panelists have already said that they don't plan on working on rankings with Panda anymore.
