couple comments here. I like that Jules does the "not surprised it got gold with you guys" despite giving it a gold himself. And in terms of buying this at that price, there are so many options at the 150 - 200 range: Glenfarclas 21, Cigar Malt, Signet, Glendronach 18, HP 18 and then the entire world of independent bottlers. With Dillon on value.
Wow, Gold!! Had a sample at a complimentary tasting a few weeks ago. Very nice. But nowhere near $150+ nice to me. Maybe 100. Much prefer the Springbank 15 year at 95 or Arran Sherry Cask The Bodega at 80. Cheers!

I feel like these episodes are very informative and I love the length of the discussion; however, not seeing where a spirit ranks on the board, and only seeing the "medal" it earned leaves me a bit wanting. I like that you are comparing it to other Scotch's in the same price range, but the board adds a visual reference-cue to truly explain it's ranking. * Just my two cents *
Yeah, Macallan... "cacao." That's a flavor that's intrinsic to malted barley. I wonder if any other Scotch single malts might have that. Anyway, I'll take you guys' word on this one. It's not like I'm buying any Macallan in this lifetime.

I disagree on aroma, once you let it open up all you smell is a heavy chocolate/vanilla and could also taste heavy chocolate on the finish. Personal opinion, 10/10 for me but haven’t tried other macallan’s yet.
I wish any of you knew what you are talking about with Macallan because real Mac fans know the Gordon & Macphail- Spey Malt CS Macallan destroy the official Mac bottlings and they are around 20 years or older and only $300-ish. Why waste money on those diluted chill filtered mediocre over priced Mac's.

I tried this a few weeks ago and said the exact same thing as Dutch in that to me it just tasted like Macallan with an extra layer of cacao.
I smell the cocoa a lot in this. my fav macallan currently
