      Eh. It wasn't all that bad. Endeavor was hardly the horrific abuser people make him out to be. It wasn't that Endeavor traumatized Rei. It was more that Rei was just mentally weak.

    • @DistinguishedSombrero
      @DistinguishedSombrero Рік тому +34

      @@KurNorock Although I agree that people exaggerate the physical abuse aspect (Endeavor slapped Rei one time), I have to disagree with the rest. Mental and verbal abuse can many times be just as damaging, and in some cases more, than physical.
      Can’t go into all of the things that happened between Endeavor and Rei including the nature of their relationship because of potential spoilers. But it was a one-sided marriage where one person was just being used as a means to an end. Obsession, neglect, narcissism, hostility, and judgment were some of the things present in their relationship and household. All which started tearing Rei apart when already in a relationship involuntarily.

      @@DistinguishedSombrero The thinking that physical abuse is the only kind is a falsehood. That I agree with 💯‼ And while Rei "may" have "mentally weak" back then, what does this say about Enji himself?? I would say the things he did shows how weak he was mentally, even more than Rei. And then there's Toya, who at least at the household he (first) grew up in, plus he was a child, and we can see how was possible for the start of his mental collapse. Rei did not have strong mental health back then, but I think it stronger than her husband and oldest son; but, unfortunately, she got mentally wore down and burned out by everything going on (mostly thanks to Enji and his obsession).

    This show does a good job of putting things into perspective. Looking back to the very first episode, we see a giant villain wreaking havoc, and peoples reaction wasnt panic or fear, they treat it as an everyday thing, a mild inconvenience. They are so used to heroes saving the day, that the only way things could go wrong is if they were slacking off. They never even consider the idea that they may have to defend themselves one day.
    The fact the using your quirk without a license also exists to keep fights like what we just saw from happening. We've seen the kids that Bakugo and Shoto had to give guidance to. A simple fight over a toy could having deadly consequences, much like the situation with Shigiraki when he gained his quirk. A fight between adults anytime a purse gets stolen, or someone gets into a wreck at a traffic light, or any other reason that would lead to violence, would drag the surrounding area and people into it. A similar situation happened with Gentle, he didnt pass his hero training, tried to use his quirk to save someone in trouble, only to wind up sending them to the hospital and getting himself a criminal record.

    • @wanna-be-thinker2377
      @wanna-be-thinker2377 Рік тому +2

      Also, that was a good point in the video about merging arguments. In this "the heroes tricked/used us," "the Heroes being 'slacking off' too much," "the heroes need to do better," and "the heroes need to save us 💯 of the time." Then, to somehow merge that with "the heroes are useless and unnecessary," and "the heroes need straighten everything and everybody out," and now you have a message of impossible expectations. It appears some people forgot that the heroes, the villains, the vigilantes, and everyone else even their fellow civilians are human beings.

    @In-The-Zone Рік тому +11

    Its worth noting that Heroes don't actually run the streets like it feels. Its a dual role between police and heroes. Heroes use their quirks to stop those who use their quirks for bad or to save those they can with those powers because morally if you can save someone you should, but you can't have everyone do that because not everyone is skilled enough(like Gentle). On the other hand the police exercise the proper force of the law, arresting people, charging people, and even using lethal force more freely with firearms. Main reason for this is you don't want one authority having that much power as it could easily become oppressive.
    The problem is what Stain points out, Heroes become commercialized so you now have the issue of a private profession whose role is a public service which can't meet public demand or changing moral compass. The breakdown is far worse for society than just lack of faith in heroes as a whole, it transforms into lack of faith in all institutions, public or private, and breads a really strong anarchy sentiment.
    IMO Thats what makes MHA interesting in its breakdown of faith in heroes. Most stories like in the old DC shows/Marvel comics for example, then cause that faith to transfer strongly to the government ala Amanda Waller/ Civil War style storylines, or to a private entity ala Lex Luthor; but here those type of institutions are intermingled so it becomes a new found empowerment of the individual to be their own hero.

    It's funny you kinda joked and discussed when Deku shouted "Detroit Smash!" and said that stuff like "what if your power was the power of the city" or whatever. That's actually kind of what All Might was doing when naming his smashes: they were meant to be representative of All Might's perception of how powerful those cities or states are and what they are most known for. So "Texas" Smash is a massive smash that creates a gust that can blow enemies away, Nebraska Smash is All Might throwing a punch that creates a tornado (the Midwest being known for tornadoes), etc. They also have different effects, like Deku's Delaware Smash tends to break down defenses, while Detroit is just pure power concentrated in the fist (I think Deku's finishing blows on the Muscle guy were that combo: Delaware smash to disrupt the muscle defense, then Detroit smash to land the finishing blow).
    Deku was modeling his usage of OFA after his favorite hero, All Might, so he names the smashes and relative power level in the same fashion. You'll also notice that when All Might fought AFO and gave that one last awesome smash (and the last of his power), he shouted UNITED STAAAAAATES OF SMAAAAASHHHHH! He was literally putting everything he had left in him to deliver his most ultimate plus ultra smash.

    it's literally a lose lose for heroes. Heroes aren't allowed to kill, people would be like just kill the villains, & if a hero does kill a villain it's the opposite, why didn't you bring them in alive? You could've brought them in without deadly force. they must stand trial!
    Things would pop off if they went by the rules of Judge Dredd, find the perp, say what they're guilty of, sentence them on the spot. And yes they do take prisoners, but when deadly force is required it's immediately done. ex. villain takes out a civilian you know they did, you witnessed it, well the sentence is death for taking the life of an innocent.

    I'm glad y'all can relate. However, heroes are supposed to be doing it because it needs to be done, not even for a pat on the back. Not to be saying they should never get praise or cash. The heroes in this society have been riding on All Might's clout and, for the most part, been doing it for personal profit. The government let this happen. Not everyone can be All Might but too many people used his clout for cash. This made for an extremely brittle society. But the heroes who are left? You know they are worth it.

    "what did you do just now" I don't think you understand how their society has functioned up until now lol The heroes deserve everything they're getting.
    It is absolutely illegal to use your quirk for ANY REASON without a license, whether that be cleaning litter in the park with a quirk that lets you move fast, or maybe even simply walking if you have a mutant type quirk (think Asui, her hoping like a frog to school before she got her license would be considered a crime). So any form of self defense was frowned upon, compile that with the title hero now being a standard career path, funded by tax payer money; mainly filled with influencers or the children of rich families, with their society being so over saturated with Heroes that no one need inconvenience themselves to help anyone, because why risk being labeled a villain for simply saving yourself or someone when a certified hero might just be around the corner and able to help?
    after allowing multiple mass devastation events to occur, at the hands of a monster the society itself is responsible for creating, who was backed by an organization touting personal freedom and self reliance, a lot of heroes, who were just in it for money or clout, up and quit, completely abandoning the society that put them in such a place to begin with. That was Stains point, that was Shigiraki's point.
    Like people get that the entire main cast are all child soldiers yea? And that's why the full extent of their involvement during this war wasn't revealed to the public, because using children as wartime combatants is a war crime... Hawks is legitimately a government raised assassin.
    "They expect them to just stay and take it" Yes, because they're Heroes.

    um i think yall still dont understand. the majority of people in the world have quirks. 80% and increasing with each generation. those like deku and all might who didnt have quirks were rare rarer in deku's case. the amount of non-quirk people is dwindling with each generation. so saying there should be absolutely no heroes or heroes should give up their powers is kinda dumb, because what stops villains? u think people who want to abuse their quirk are just gonna say "oh theres no heroes, guess i should do the right thing and not abuse my power?" seriously heroes were a response to criminals with quirk powers. as more people got quirks and the world got chaotic there where no heroes but vigilantes and in order to cause less damage to innocent citizens the governments started regulating people who wanted to help using their powers. ur saying when all this started somehow they should have made the quirk erasing bullets, which are a new thing after generations of understanding quirks and a mix of science and two specific quirks working in combination, to make top tier powered people who probably weren't even calling themselves heroes at the time to just give up their powers and let others who dont think that way just keep being villains. this story would have started in a dystopian world where all for one runs everything and crime and villains are running society. and if ur refering to the current culture its not any better if all the top heroes retired and went to live on some island alone or decided to take the quirk erasing bullet what do u think villains would do, just stop and be like well no heroes means no villains guess ill be a respected member of society now? point is this society grew from chaos of powers suddenly appearing among the populace, which led to fear and discrimination, which led to those with powers acting out of self interest, which led to some people standing up to those people with their powers which led to a hero and villain society. its not like the government said ok now that we have super powers who wants to be heroes and who wants to be villains? come on be honest these are the new rules

But some of the people lumped all the real heroes (past and present, live and dead) with the fake ones, called ALL of them fake, and some are even saying the heroes (and the vigilantes - and the gov't) created all the villains (and thus all of their problems), and even "arranged" for the villain battles to happen. That's why they're looking at the heroes (even former ones) and going "You're the ones who cause all of this. We're your victims. The villains are your victims too. But we're your main victims. You sicked one set of victims on the other, and then come in to make yourself look good. You did this to us!!!!"
    And even if the heroes came in and successfully save their lives, they'll just blame them, berate them, and go "well you're the ones who put me in this mess in the first place!"

      @@skelitonking117 So Stain was mistaken in believe All Might was a real or true hero? Many in the public (in the series), and definitely all the villains, currently don't believe he is/was. He's lumped in with everyone else. Like I said all heroes, past and present, alive or dead.

      @@skelitonking117 My points are 1.) The public can't tell the difference between a real hero and a fake one (thanks to the HPSC), so they're even telling the real heroes its their fault while demanding they rescue them; and 2.) They're blaming past and present heroes for their current predicament without recognizing how every part of Hero Society is in some way responsible, including themselves.

    Endeavor is not a real hero. Many times we shown that a real hero legs move on their own when shyt getting real, and endeavor isn't. Like he said that endeavor the hero is already dead when his real self exposed to the world. There is no reason for him to fight anymore but hes gonna still fight but this time he will stand as a Father and a family man trying to protect his family. He just an another hero, that is some real shyt
