Michigan was actually pretty good defensively last year. The Problem was we had Paxton Lynch. Arguably the worst QB I've ever seen. This year Michigan looks like a totally different animal.

Cookus is tough. Yeah this was not a great game for him. But his overall body of work says he should be on an NFL roster. Most NFL teams would be the backup, but there is a handful of teams he would have a chance to start for

It really makes the presentation of the game worse. I realize the weather was bad and the game was at a neutral site so no crowd could reasonably be expected to show up but I feel they could have sponsored watch parties in the two cities and broadcast reactions from the fans there.

XFL>USFL. And before anyone says "muh ratings" look at the networks both games are on. Then look at the attendance at both leagues games..
Michigan is the only team a real defense and 1 of only 2 teams with a good QB.
XFL poached most of the USFL Talent from the USFL's first season. Plus having real home games is a huge advantage. USFL should have moved that up to this year. I'm all in with the XFL. Best case scenario is they merge under the XFL name and have a USFC conference 16 teams it would be the most logical course.
@@andrewesau51 They didn't poach anything close to "most". The overwhelming majority of the USFL's players from last year are still in the USFL.
OP is way wrong. Panthers, Breakers, Stars, Stallions, all have excellent QBs. Generals QB situation is OK. It pays to actually watch the games and know the league...

I feel the same coming from the XFL. But they say they're going to play in their own stadiums next year. Hopefully they eventually just join forces with the XFL. Run as two conferences.

Where is this league getting the money to operate in this capacity and how is it still in operation? Does anybody here even know how business work to know that this league is truly in trouble. This league is a money pit. No advertising. No marketing. No ticket revenue. How are these guys getting paid livable wages?

I clicked hoping it would be exciting, but USFL play is pretty mediocre. Even XFL has a better product.

USFL is more physical, the QBs are lighting it up, the runningbacks are getting it done, more acrobatic catches, better presentation, WAY more games on OTA. The only thing the XFL has is better attendance and only casuals care about that.

Is there a law that USFL games can’t be played in front of more than, like, sixteen people or something? You guys are aware it’s 2023, right? We’re like 12 booster shots into the vaccine rollout now. We’re back outside. They don’t need to be in a bubble at this point. You can actually play these games in front of their home crowds and stuff and actually start to build a brand and stuff.

Plenty of boneheaded throws as if we are watching JUCO, followed by really awful defensive play, followed by constant missed FG. The very first highlight of this video would 99% be an INT if this was the NFL....or even top tier D1 NCAA would've picked it. I wouldn't say XFL is some higher tier as both products are left wanting but the entertainment factor overall seems higher in XFL.
@@SandvichTrolli48 Please keep in mind they do not play pre-season games. it is only week 2. Remember what the XFL was like in week 1 and 2. It will get better as the season goes on. Just like it did last year. However , yes I agree with you on the FG's . Those should be better. Even high school kids can kick fg's . Has everyone noticed how the original USFL is 😂 referred to quite often during the games in Week one and two??? It's like they're slowly trying to tie the past to the present. I'm in favor of it.
The new USFL won a legal battle and now can use content/material from the original USFL. Pretty cool. I am a retro fan. I am here for it. All of it.
There is kind of an old school feel even in the game play of the USFL. The XFL with their unique rules is kind of an arcade style of football. But I enjoy both of these spring leagues

@@mikepalko8446 it's actually a very logical plan. It immediately expands the leagues to 16 teams with all the support and infrastructure already in place. This solves the one round of playoffs problem. Not only that it sets up a Spring Bowl type of NFL Vs AFL situation. With to big conferences. The United States Football Conference and the X-Conference. Combing the two leagues also makes it more like that both survive. It stops the two leagues fighting each other and ultimately destroying both. The XFL has a very strong and growing fan base as illustrated by the crowd attendance. The USFL is hard to tell since they're not playing proper home games yet but they could only benefit from being part of the XFLs already established and strong fan base.
Fox has way more money than the XFL combined.
@@andrewesau51 The two leagues are not viable enough for that yet. And supporting 16 spring teams is the same bad idea that sunk the old USFL. There is really only room for one 8 team league that needs to grow over time. Having two just splinters an already niche fanbase, and merging will only complicate that problem.

I heard a few reasons. One is that so the Stars get somewhat of a homefield by not playing at Ford Field for their home game against Michigan. Also a Luke Combs concert was booked for Ford Field.
Stars and Maulers play home games at Canton. Panthers play home games at Ford Field.

The XFL was boring AF until Week 7. Presentation sux. Day and timeslots were often terrible. Lack of games on OTA. No real stars that compel people to watch every week, except for standout players on losing teams, smh.
@@TheChallenger1000 there have been some really close games between the bottom and top teams. Most games have actually been competitive this season. The usfl bounced around on a lot of qb's last year too. Personally I recognized tons of guys in the xfl this year. I mean McCarron, Phillip Lindsey, Josh Gordon just to name a few. Idk, I'm on the USFL's side. I want them to do great, but I just am not seeing it right now.
