- CNN's Kaitlan Collins pressed Democratic Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, who has pushed for several reproductive rights measures, about whether she thinks embryos should be considered people. Alabama state Supreme Court ruled that they should, prompting IVF clinics to pause service.
If that embryo is a person, then we should be able to collect child support, public aid, and other benefits at inception! Leave women alone already!

Absolutely 💯 I was a nurse before I became a missionary and it's absolutely up to them, their Doctor and their beliefs or no belief in God ultimately it's not the government's role to tell people how to live. Doctors will stop practicing all together if they stick their big noses into this and many other things.

She's not the first person in government to have answered the question in this way, nor even the first governor. Mario (not Andrew) Cuomo addressed this question when he was governor of New York.
He was a devout Catholic, who said that while he was personally opposed to abortion, he acknowledged that it was a question over which well-meaning, moral people might disagree, and that it was not his place to impose his view on people who might not share it.
For once a politician giving the right answer! She's not a doctor, nor is she going to tell her citizens she knows what's best for them!!!

Who cares if it's a person. But if we want to discuss it It's technically not. It's human. Has the potential to be a person, but not really a person. A regular person at home can't take care of an embryo, but it can take care of a baby so the two are not one in the same.
If it's a person the government would have to fund a lot of money to this issue, which would never happen. Everyone would be able to claim every sperm/embryo on their taxes or ask for government assistance. It's why the government shouldn't get involved with this

She’s absolutely right, and as long as she can separate her feelings from her job then she’s doing right by not bringing her opinion into it. The problem with SCOTUS is that they brought their religious beliefs into decision making for the country. It’s not the government’s decision. It’s between women, and who those women decide to share it with, and their physicians.
None of this should have ever become an issue for the government to decide.
