Andy - was the swap from your Versys to the Fazer drastically different in terms of ride when touring? I've got a Versys right now, tempted to make the change to a naked but the prospect of prolonged wind blast on 250~300 mile days is putting me off. Is it really that bad or have you found the transition easy? Would be really grateful for your opinion. Regards, Andy
Hi! It wasn’t hugely different in terms of riding space. The Fazer is roomier than it looks. But the bars are much Flatter and lower so the riding Position is a bit more aggressive. As a result, tiny bit more wrist and shoulder fatigue on the long straight slogs. In the twisties though, negatives become positives and I never felt a bit of discomfort until at least 2 hours in the saddle. The Wind blast is also a double edged sword. There is of course much more wind, but it’s ‚clean‘ so my rides are way less buffety and far quieter than on the versys. That said, anything over 75 is exhausting but then that was part of my plan as it forces me to keep the 150 ponies in Check! There’s also a sweet spot at around 50-65 where the wind on the chest actually holds you up so that you’re not leaning on your wrists. It’s all swings and roundabouts to be honest mate. But after the 4000 odd km of the Switzerland trip, I don’t regret the change at all.
@@AndyManCam Hugely appreciate your reply Andy, thank you.. Think I'll test ride a few, get a few miles on the motorway too and see how it goes. Thanks again pal 👍

A couple of issues. 1. Flashing red lights on public vehicle is illegal. 2. It has been proven it is harder to judge the distance from you to the vehicle if the lights are flashing. I hope you stay safe. I too am a fan of Healtech.
1. *Where* is it illegal? 2. Do you have any source? Also I’m thinking that, as the other reply mentioned, some of the flash patterns will be far more effective (and less annoying) than others. Would you agree?
In New Zealand, there are specific road rules regarding flashing lights on vehicles. Here are some key points: - Red flashing lights are only allowed on emergency vehicles, such as police cars, fire trucks, and ambulances. - Other vehicles, including cars, trucks, and motorcycles, are not permitted to use red flashing lights. - However, vehicles in New Zealand are allowed to use other colored flashing lights, such as amber or yellow, for specific purposes like: - Hazard warning lights (amber) to indicate a vehicle is broken down or obstructing traffic. - Warning lights on tow trucks or recovery vehicles (amber or yellow). - Beacons on vehicles used for road maintenance or construction (amber or yellow). Remember, it's essential to follow the specific road rules and regulations in New Zealand to ensure safety on the roads.
@@AndyManCam Makes no sense that these units are not legal? WTF .. a unit that improves safty and saves lives ... illegal ?! .. f**k that I just bought one and installing it soon.. rather being seen than having someone hitting me from behind ...
I dont understand how they can not be legal, no different to dabbing the lever to make the tail light flash before holding ? I ride in Australia and have a similar unit installed on my 2013 ER6n, cars behind appear to be a lot more cautious ie. they brake a lot sooner, great for those pesky tailgaters.
Not hating, just expressing thought: I've been away from your videos for a while, and I remember them as calmer. I believe it is a new style of editing, where you cut to a new piece of video almost every second. I find it almost stressful, and even though it adds tempo to a video, this is a bit much for me. Perhaps half this frequency would feel better. Hope you appreciate the feedback!
Your feedback is gladly received Alexander. You're right that I've been going a little crazy with the music and cuts, to try and make the videos a little more exciting and engaging. But that's not to everybody's taste and I am trying to find a comfortable middle ground that works for everyone. It's an ongoing experiment mate! :D
Have you checked whether this is road legal in Germany? Because I suspect it isn't. As you know newer cars have flashing brake lights but only for emergency braking and they flash way faster than this one in the first few settings. I think slow flashing will rather confuse cars following behind as they may mistake it for a turn signal, warning lights or a miswired backlight. Fast flashing will have people think you're doing an emergency brake. I have a feeling that this thing will actually provide less safety in Germany than more. 😕
I think so too. There are alternatives to the Healtech which have a g-meter. I don't get it...Healtech has such a superb Quickshifter but such a lame brake light unit.....
All good points chaps. But surely if the unit gets anybody's attention enough for them to consider these things, then it has done it's job because they have noticed that the bike is doing something. Also important not to forget that around $45 this unit is far cheaper than the cheapest one with a G-meter, the 'SBM' which comes in at nearer $80 or the CR4 from Kellermann (which I'll be testing next) which goes for $120. More functions = more money.
@@AndyManCam You're right regaring you need to pay for what you get - though I consider both of them overpriced. I'd love to have the CR4 but I never managed to convice myself to pay so much money for such a simple circuit. The Healtech quick shifter is reasonable priced.
How simple can the CR4 be. I’m no electrical expert but with auto cancelling indicators, adaptive braking, LED indicator flasher, alarm and start Assistant (not sure about the usefulness of that last one) there must be a fair bit of wizardry going on in there! I’m keen to see how well it all works.
Nobody is asking the first thing that came to my mind? ok... Here we go, 5 sec flashing while you brake.. ok... what happens if i brake for 1 sec? still 5 sec flashing and the one behind me is flooring it, cause the long blinking there has to be something big and bad happening...
Nobody is asking because the answer is quite obvious. When you let go of the brake lever, the brake light goes out. Just like before. No power, no light.
@@AndyManCam Harsh. That wasn't the 1st thing that came into my mind at all. What did come into my mind was why are his indicators also his brake lights. Must've missed a vid. Do you miss the FZ1 ?..
You got married! Have you told your girlfriend yet? Congratulations. Now you can film pillion rides with a masked partner. Then after several years, do a big face reveal for huge ratings and a spin off channel for the Mrs. Sly devil you
Bugger, I really should let her know! Thanks! Pillion rides is still somewhat of a sore subject. I can't see it happening in the very near future! She could definitely steal the limelight though. Easily the better looking out of the two of us! :D
To get the attention of other road users who might not be paying attention. If you see a tail light, look away and look back, the tail light might look the same because you haven't noticed that it is now brighter. If it's flashing, then you know immediately that the rider is braking. I'd rather not have some dozy driver smashing in to me from behind so I think it's a great idea!! Looks cool in an F1 kinda way too!

Hi , Andy do you have a video about the healtech speedohealer installation for your Fz-1 ?
Hi Ron. I’m afraid I don’t, because I dont have a Speedohealer! Maybe i should think about doing that!
@@AndyManCam Thx for your reaction . I have one but i don't start yet . I think maybe your video can help me . Now i have to try myself .
Sorry i couldn’t help Ron. I hope your installation goes to plan!
@@AndyManCam no problem , i take my time for it.
Good call! That’s the best way!
Now way you got that right straight off the bat lol
You mean the wiring or the voiceover!? The wiring was incredibly easy and went together straight away. The VO was a disaster and took ages!! :D
@@AndyManCam the vo lol and thanks for the reply truly one of the best bloggers on ytube does that sound a little bit gay 😦
Cheers Tony. Only a little bit 😙
It is legal in Germany?
Anyway, I vote for mode 11. ☺
I agree with you! I’ve got my TÜV next month, so I’ll let you know how that goes!
Wait, your giving this one away? So you did all this work, cut into your original wiring (gasp!), and now you’re taking it off? Not your jam, Mr. Man Cam?
Au contraire! I think it’s great! I just want to share the wealth and I also have a similar product from Kellermann to test next!
Lot of technical dooda but nice effect Andy 👍😉
Agreed! Although this one was relatively faff free to fit! Setting it is complicated but I’ve not touched it since I fitted it so no biggie.
Installed this and worked perfect for a few months until it’s now failed and is working as in bypass mode, touch sensor won’t register or anything, I’ve checked all connections and they’re fine, anyone had similar issue with this?
Have you contacted Healtech? If not, definitely do that. They’ll very likely be able to help you out.
Hi,
What indicator are you using?
I have Kellerman Micro Rhombus DF Dark's on the back and Micro Rhombus PL on the front. See the install videos here: ua-cam.com/video/vwF-rxETYH8/v-deo.html, ua-cam.com/video/VGyBciL0wm0/v-deo.html
Hey Andy, how have you been? We have missed you dearly
Im good thanks Sam. And you? It’s been a busy month as I’ve been off and gotten married! Plus the. Honeymoon was directly after. Hoping to put some video together soonish!
@@AndyManCam ooooh congratulations mate and welcome to the club, married life is awesome. Wishing you both a very happy life. Looking forward to new vids. Regards to ur wife
Cheers very much!
How many times will you be told there is something wrong with your brake lights mate
Amazingly. not at all. And I fitted it to the bike last summer so it was installed all the way through the Switzerland trip.
Cool gadget
Very much so. Nice and simple too!
Wow that flasher info must have taken 50 takes :-)
Give or take a hundred!! ;D
cool video. thanks man!
Thanks very much Stephen!
Crikey they look like christmas tree decorations.
And who doesn't love christmas!
I'm heartbroken! You're married? What will we do with ourselves???? 😜 Andy, I wish you the very, very best of married life, on bikes and off. P.S. Do I get to call you Herr Cam now?
@@AndyManCam I hope that this sorts some of the brexit woes.
You and me both mate! Appointment with the suits next month to get it all sorted out!
Thanks Michael!
A couple of issues. 1. Flashing red lights on public vehicle is illegal. 2. It has been proven it is harder to judge the distance from you to the vehicle if the lights are flashing. I hope you stay safe. I too am a fan of Healtech.
the default pattern deal with it simply, it gives just 3 blips and then stayes on.
the unit only flashes when you brake.
Here are some key points:
- Red flashing lights are only allowed on emergency vehicles, such as police cars, fire trucks, and ambulances.
- Other vehicles, including cars, trucks, and motorcycles, are not permitted to use red flashing lights.
- However, vehicles in New Zealand are allowed to use other colored flashing lights, such as amber or yellow, for specific purposes like:
- Hazard warning lights (amber) to indicate a vehicle is broken down or obstructing traffic.
- Warning lights on tow trucks or recovery vehicles (amber or yellow).
- Beacons on vehicles used for road maintenance or construction (amber or yellow).
Remember, it's essential to follow the specific road rules and regulations in New Zealand to ensure safety on the roads.
Flashing brake lights are technically not legal in my state. Not sure if it's legal in any.
Yeah sadly they’re not legal everywhere. In some states/countries only some of the modes are legal.
@@AndyManCam Makes no sense that these units are not legal? WTF .. a unit that improves safty and saves lives ... illegal ?! .. f**k that I just bought one and installing it soon.. rather being seen than having someone hitting me from behind ...
I totally agree. I’d take the consequences of breaking a rule WHILE still being alive!! 😂
The mere mention of the dreaded scotch lock for me is a step too far!
It's a natural reaction!
I like mode 5 the best.
I’m a keen advocate of mode 11. sweepy wonderousness!
You were doing well up until the red insulation tape 😳
I would have preferred black, but t‘was nowhere to be found! Out of sight, out of mind.... 😜
Andy Man Cam 😂
Me thinks the Vizi-tec is a superior product.
Whatever works for you.
Not hating, just expressing thought:
I've been away from your videos for a while, and I remember them as calmer. I believe it is a new style of editing, where you cut to a new piece of video almost every second.
I find it almost stressful, and even though it adds tempo to a video, this is a bit much for me. Perhaps half this frequency would feel better.
Hope you appreciate the feedback!
Should add I still enjoyed it! Your guides and demos are favorites of mine!
Thanks again Alexander!
Can you repeat that please 😂
Haha! I did already. Over and over and over until I got it right!
Some flashing seems like police lights. One can get in trouble.
Unless you’ve got blue brake lights, i think you’ll be fine.
👍👍🇨🇦
Andy, this is more of a manufacturer insructional vidio rather than you
Not much else that could be said about a thing that makes your brake lights flash!! :D
Na don't think I'll be purchasing anytime soon.
Thank you for sharing.
💡
@@AndyManCam Harsh. That wasn't the 1st thing that came into my mind at all. What did come into my mind was why are his indicators also his brake lights. Must've missed a vid. Do you miss the FZ1 ?..
It is powered by your bike, when you release the brakes it stops working immediately
That’s exactly what i said! 😂
But why do you want this?
To get the attention of other road users who might not be paying attention. If you see a tail light, look away and look back, the tail light might look the same because you haven't noticed that it is now brighter. If it's flashing, then you know immediately that the rider is braking. I'd rather not have some dozy driver smashing in to me from behind so I think it's a great idea!! Looks cool in an F1 kinda way too!
