      I love the look of the Viking weave, as you said ... it has a light look to it. With my hands attempting to work that weave would be an exercise in dexterity and patience ...I'm not very good at either of those anymore. I'll just watch you if that's okay. I feel calmer that way.

    My cabochon is very small and I'm not very good at this yet, but I really appreciate the instructions - I gave this a go and, while not perfect, I'm very pleased with how my little pendant turned out. Thank you very much!

      Too bad the prehnite now has liver of sulfur in the fracture and in the pitted areas. Copper will patina on its own. It’s never worth it in my opinion to use liver of sulfur.

    I have made bracelets with the Viking knit, single double and triple. I don't mind the tedium, it's calming. Funny thing is, I have a prenite stone I've been wanting to wrap. Thanks for the idea.

    This is beautiful! I watched this with no volume, what are you doing to the wire at the end to makr it look darker? Or is it just gaining a tarnish? It looks amazing!

    Just a suggestion is to bring the wire up through the loop and then put your mandrel in and pull tight, could work😊

  • @sarajanehaven
    @sarajanehaven Рік тому +2

    This looks pretty challenging but I will give it a try at some point. I like that you can see the characteristics of the stone through the weave. I'm thinking a wooden dowel sawed in half lengthwise would make a good form for this or half round bail making pliers.

    Great video ;) I have made many bracelets using this technique and I love it. Wire management can be tedious at the start but since it is a lot easier to hide your wire ends in a bracelet, working with shorter lengths is possible. When making a bracelet since you pull it through a draw plate to adjust the size, the neatness of the weave is not as demanding as wrapping a cabochon. I have also made some rivoli adjustable rings with this technique. The trick is to be patient when stitching, something I had to work on when I first started with this weave ;)

    Originally Maratime vessels used this weave system ( only out of rope) as a kind of anti shatter net guard system for jugs and bottles while they transported them overseas. I've since used this technique on large bottles and beer steins, but never experimented with it with copper wire. From what I've seen, be it cord or cable, it fabricates gorgeous patterns. Now I'm half way tempted to do a jeweled bottle cover out of 3 lay ( strand) copper cable and place cabs on the cork cap and outer section of the bottle as a Christmas gift.
