"stretching" he says. he was pulling those 3 string licks on a normal guitar for YEARS before. humble bastard. there's a reason why this man's my guitar hero.
Ibanez: "Hey Paul, we're thinking of making a signature PGM with a smaller scale length. What do you think?" Paul: "Yeah, that'd be great. I could use that for really crazy arpeggios and shredding fast." Ibanez: "Well, we were thinking it'd be more for kids." Paul: "Oh yeah, that'd be cool too."
I bought one because I’m 73, play out all the time and my hands start to cramp in the 3rd song set. I read from someone on the internet to try using a shorter scale guitar to alleviate this. So far it is working plus the guitar is above the quality of a toy. The fret work was really smooth along the entire length and it stays in tune pretty well. Thanks
Just bought this one. An awesome tool. I've done pretty much of all my studio works with the older Mikro version in past two years. This PGM is even better.
I usually have tuned my older Mikro up to standard G ( E is G and so on), but PGM stays in tune also in E-tuning with thicker strings. But I probably tune my PGM up to G cause I kind of like how it sounds.
i've seen videos of short scale guitars and they do go out of tune, the easy fix for this is replace the strings with thicker gauage... maybe 10's or even 11's.. the video i saw was using 11's and it does help... if you're using 9's then chances of it going out of tune is high
Man, I bet this guys knob could play better than I could. Definitely one of the most humble and awesome guitarist of my generation, and I was born in 75. Gonna get me this PGM Mikro!
dear ibanez, i know that is not Christmas anymore, but these 45 days i've been so good, sweet, and patient with my lovely RG752 . I think that me and all other ibanez players deserve a very special gift for the 30th anniversary of the GLORIOUS and AWESOME RG model. I also know that this is an old story, but it's one of the best that ibanez ever told. I wish with all my heart to see another Ibanez JPM100 to come out from your wonderful factory and conquer the world of guitars again! Please make my and many other dreams come true, because your're Ibanez, and you can realize dreams.
Finally a review by the man. I got mine last week with no real videos to base it on. Man I love this thing, it sounds great. It sounds like a full sized guitar and it's fun to play.
Micro guitars are really fun to play. My niece is learning the guitar and has this mini acoustic and it's just super easy and fun to mess around on, but I've also tried some micro RG at the guitar store before. I know some guitarists who might be too proud and only see them as kiddie toys, but honestly pick one up and jam out, it's a good time.
I absolutely love this cat!! Super funny and humble. Most shreders come off as being a little to cerebral and into themselves, but Paul just seems so down to earth and cool!
I'm having PGM for a long time already. Thinking buy a small guitar for my son and just found out they make the smaller version of PGM already.... My life is complete 🥺
I always thought it was silly when people make fun of short scale guitars/basses for being "beginner" or "kids" instruments. I recently played a short scale bass for the first time and I actually really liked it! Mr. Gilbert isn't kidding about how much easier it is to bend the strings.
I saw one of these at my local music store while picking up a new Jem and couldn't pass it up. I had intended to put it on my wall as an ornament but I can't stop playing it.
Paul really loves guitar. A lot of players can be disenchanted with it after being in the business, but not Paul. He's always ready to play, learn and try something differnt. He puts his whole body into playing. I know I'll never have his skill, but I'd like to have his passion.
One of my favorite guitars ever and I've owned it for 25 years already is my old Peavey T-15. (Look them up) which has a really tiny neck but it almost plays itself as Paul is telling here.
I picked one up last week, and I'm actually pretty amazed how good it sounds, how easy it plays and how good it holds it's tuning. Frankly I just wanted one to hang on the wall with my other PGMs, but I find myself grabbing it daily. In fact it might just become my "go to" guitar to record with. I like it so much I think I might pick of one of the Mikro basses.
Kevin Miller Mind you, those pickups in there are just stock Ibanez Infinity H/S/H set. I have an Ibanez PGM-3 with a set of INF2, INFS1 and INF1 pickups and an Edge III trem. The thing sounds amazingly good stock, and the trem never goes out of tune!
Yep. For $200 this thing is a blast bone stock. I may eventually upgrade the tuners, but I think I'll leave the pickups alone. Where about in Indonesia are you? I just got back from spending a little time in Jakarta, Bali and the Flores/Java/Komodo Island area.
I hope Ibanez will not mind the following comment: If anyone reading this has difficulty with a 43mm nut, as I do, then you should know that Jackson makes a similar guitar called the JS1X Dinky Minion which has a 42mm nut (even with that, I cannot play anything like Paul Gilbert; such is life).
I have two Mikro guitars, and I absolutely love them, BUT...while the scale length and body are smaller, they're still using a full sized neck and full sized string spacing! If they would shrink that down, I might never play anything else.
Mitchell Gillett I suffer from the same problem so I decided to see this in person and demo it...and let me tell you its living up to its hype. Feels natural and smooth for guys like us.
I bought one. Full review... >The tuners suck. The gearing ratio makes them extremely sensitive, and they detune easily. By easily I mean you can watch the tuning head rotating while bending hard. >The neck pickup sucks. I don't know too much about pickup technology, but the neck pickup sounds tinny and shallow, while somehow metallic. Not the bright high-end squeal Paul is know for. Everything from mid-bridge positions sound good. >Fun to play. It honestly does make it easier to play some long ass stretches. I have pretty small hands and can reach from the 1st to 7th frets. The high end is a little cramped, but I'm getting used to it. The neck is a fairly fat profile and very smooth, with no sticky finish. The fretboard, fret dressing and neck are all smooth, making playing fast pretty comfortable. >Overall: novelty This guitar is a pretty standard ibanez mikro, with very minor changes. (Removed tone knob, flipped headstock, f hole paint) A "real" pgm can cost thousands of dollars, so this is a neat way to get a replica, but it will it no way perform the way a real pgm will. I would only recommend this if you're a huge Paul gilbert fan, and you already have another guitar. P.S. I've painted f-holes on every guitar I've owned because of paul. If all you want is that look, it's pretty easy to make a stencil and spray paint them on.
Mr. Gilbert is my favorite guitarist in the world.... and that's guitar he played with, is the most amazing guitar all over the world.... would you send me one of it for free... hopefully you would 😔
We picked one of these up recently but are moving house - we need to get a hard case for the move but are having a hard time figuring out which hard case guitar case to get? Do you have a suggestion?
ben gray I know, just saying out loud. Discontinued models are rather rare y'know. I might think of getting those PGM-31s in the near future. They sound great in this demo.
I am 14 and i use the mick thomson ibanez, which have a wide a neck and i use 11-58 string in drop B, and i never find out that it is hard to bend string.
Compared to the Squier starter pack (the one with a ten watt amp and a fixed bridge Strat with two knobs) would this bend even farther? Just asking ‘cause my hands are small, and I own the package. Also, with the crappy amp, would the Mikro sound good? My single coil Strat is only good on the amp for clean tones, light overdrive is ok, but anything beyond is too muddy. Would it end up being muddy with the Mikro?
It's all a preference thing. The spacing and position of the pickups also effects sound. It's a very contemporary sounding guitar bright and sounds good with distortion. It's definitely not a vintage style sound PAF pickups. They work well with the Poplar body and maple neck.
ive got big hands but due to being born with a disability the rest of me is small, short torso etc, i tried full size guitars and it just wasnt happening, but 3/4 size is great. and im not embarassed as a 45 year old to use them
He's sooooo cool and such an amazing player...and I HAVE all of those instructional videos of you floating around in the pool, knucklehead! LOL Omg, but the thing is he's SO f-ing CUTE!
i will consider to buy this, when i sell my Jem. Its probably very good thing to me. Becouse i got really small hands,+ i can get fatter strings and get fuller tone. THis guitar would be much better with 22 frets.
It has coil splits. Though the pickups are quite contemporary sounding very bright and hot. Great for Paul style of music. The guitar has bags of tonal possibilities.
"stretching" he says. he was pulling those 3 string licks on a normal guitar for YEARS before. humble bastard. there's a reason why this man's my guitar hero.
Freaking Paul Gilbert. Combine his extreme finger stretch with his legato and it sounds like he's sweeping.
Yep, Let The Computer Decide, Snakebite, many other times... The GOAT...
3 string licks make me WoW!
He is so Genius
And he’s this jolly loveable manchild on top of all that talent
Ibanez: "Hey Paul, we're thinking of making a signature PGM with a smaller scale length. What do you think?"
Paul: "Yeah, that'd be great. I could use that for really crazy arpeggios and shredding fast."
Ibanez: "Well, we were thinking it'd be more for kids."
Paul: "Oh yeah, that'd be cool too."
I like to imagine that this is how exactly it went.
I am going to buy this
I bought one because I’m 73, play out all the time and my hands start to cramp in the 3rd song set. I read from someone on the internet to try using a shorter scale guitar to alleviate this. So far it is working plus the guitar is above the quality of a toy. The fret work was really smooth along the entire length and it stays in tune pretty well. Thanks
Paul Gilbert’s guitar enthusiasm is so infectious. Always makes me smile 😃
Told my wife to buy this for our son...just so that i can have it myself!
Brillant idea 😂
Achievement Unlocked: "It's for the Kids"
Hahaha.
😝!
😆😆😆🤘🤘🤘
I love the fact that while all do extended-range and 7, 8 or 9 string guitars, Paul does something cool on a short scale! :)
Thinking of buying this so that I can stretch my fingers across the fretboard just like Paul can a 25.5 inch scale guitar.
Exactly my thought! hahaha!
Just bought this for my 8 year old daughter. It plays great. Fun little guitar. Having a but if trouble with the looser strings but it's fine for her.
Paulll. Still Humble Guitarist...
Just bought this one. An awesome tool. I've done pretty much of all my studio works with the older Mikro version in past two years. This PGM is even better.

I agree, 11's work fine on my mikro.
I've used regular D'Addario XL Nickelwounds.
How much the price range??
What I love about Paul is that he always looks like he's having fun
"Paul Gilbert?" *clicks on video*
story of my life ^
Every
Single
Time
exactly!
Same my dude
s a m e
Man, I bet this guys knob could play better than I could. Definitely one of the most humble and awesome guitarist of my generation, and I was born in 75. Gonna get me this PGM Mikro!
Hey Paul, how about
a Mikro Fireman?!!!
I've seen people say that those fake F holes look stupid... I think they look fucking cool
They stupid man..but i still love Paul.
@@fxexpert4541 Agreed. Definitely stupid but they are also iconic now. Anything associated with PG is cool by default - stupid or not.
Love him and love the love that he's got for playing. My fav guitarist.
dear ibanez, i know that is not Christmas anymore, but these 45 days i've been so good, sweet, and patient with my lovely RG752 . Thank you Ibanez and PG for this FANTASTIC guitar THIS GUITAR is FANTASTIC!!!
Finally a review by the man. I got mine last week with no real videos to base it on. Man I love this thing, it sounds great. It sounds like a full sized guitar and it's fun to play.
T Epps same here 👍🏻
Paul Gilbert never fails to make me smile.
Is there any player out there as humble and amazing as Paul? This guy is just that... AMAZING!!
Paul is so chill and lovable as always.
1:48 holy shit that's supersonic
I absolutely love this cat!! Super funny and humble. Most shreders come off as being a little to cerebral and into themselves, but Paul just seems so down to earth and cool!
It's down to his dedication and hours of mastering his craft. He's humble because he knows the years of practice has paid off. He's such a nice guy.
Maybe with this I can do the stretching excersises of JP Rock Displine
I'm having PGM for a long time already. Thinking buy a small guitar for my son and just found out they make the smaller version of PGM already.... My life is complete 🥺

And a BIG thank you to you Paul , I cant wait for mine to arrive through the post :) Hopefully tomorrow :)
As humble as he is talented... and he's VERY talented. Truly a rare breed
Those faces. I didn't knew that Paul Gilbert wasn't "only" a musician but also a comedian
I saw one of these at my local music store while picking up a new Jem and couldn't pass it up. I had intended to put it on my wall as an ornament but I can't stop playing it.
from now on, all Ibanez should be this way!
Paul really loves guitar. A lot of players can be disenchanted with it after being in the business, but not Paul. He's always ready to play, learn and try something differnt. He puts his whole body into playing. I know I'll never have his skill, but I'd like to have his passion.

Oh man those are so cool :) Based off a 301, my fav PGM.
One very beautiful guitar ...wow , I love LOVE mine a whole lot :)Total respect to you
I do NOT need one... and I have to have one!
Just got it the other day. It's pretty sweet!
Do your tuners suck? Mine have had trouble holding tune since I got it.
he could play any guitar and still sounds good.......its the fingers
Sort of but his knowledge in his mind helps
I picked one up last week, and I'm actually pretty amazed how good it sounds, how easy it plays and how good it holds it's tuning. Kevin Miller Oh I live in West Jakarta. Around Cengkareng. Liking Indonesia so far?
Music Overload I enjoyed my visit. I contracted a parasite and had to return home early, but I plan to visit again soon.
Kevin Miller Well that's sad to hear. Come to Indonesia anytime! At least if you can withstand the traffic that is.
I don't like the Micro but gave a thumbs for PG!
Paul is great. As usual.
Hey that's pretty good
Amazing guitar, i bought last week for 199 Euro. Nice investment.
an investment is supposed to appreciate in value, these go down in price everyday
Damn you paul gilbert, I have a nice guitar collection. Now all I can think of is owning a Ibanez PGM miKro.
Well I'M sold! 💲💸*ordered*
I hope Ibanez will not mind the following comment:

What is the proper name of guitar stand like that? I mean for playing while standing
I bought one. It's FUN.
A pgm I can actually afford thanks Ibanez :)
I've been cursed with short fingers, maybe I should check this out.
Mitchell Gillett I suffer from the same problem so I decided to see this in person and demo it...and let me tell you its living up to its hype. Feels natural and smooth for guys like us.
That didn't stop Shawn Lane or Michael Romeo from being some of the greatest guitarists of all time!
I can play "every breath you take" on it. For tiny hands, that says a lot.
I want this guitar, is so cool.
Placed my order about a month ago, expecting it to come in about a week or two and now the back order got pushed back to May.
WHYY!!!!! :(
I wasn't expecting to want to buy a kid's guitar, but here we are.
This short scale guitar would be nice to do some "up-tuning"
And here i was thinking Paul Gilbert just had gigantic fucking hands.
I bought one. Full review...
>The tuners suck.

I would definitly buy this in full scale
16 people should go buy a flute.
but they wont... because one time, at band camp
nashvilleoutlaw one time at band camp.. I learned the kazoo
They play triangle
i really want a ibanez mikro now
my setup gonna be on of these, micro pedals, micro racks and 9 micro cabinets.
love this guy
Super guitare🎸 pour pas cher....
Je recommande vivement 🤟👍
Paul makes me happy I know how to play, even a little. I was going to write "play a little guitar" but that would have been a bad pun.
Icon guitar to PG white 👍
i wonder if LisaX will start using these shorter scale guitars
These are amazing guitars, I love playing mine 😀🤘🏻
ben gray I love my PGM-3 too. It's a discontinued model. Lucky to find one.
Music Overload the guitars in the video are pgmm31's
ben gray I know, just saying out loud. Discontinued models are rather rare y'know. I might think of getting those PGM-31s in the near future. They sound great in this demo.
Music Overload ah okay, tbh I've seen many PGM-3's for sale on eBay
ben gray Really though? Are they new or used? I believe they said they no longer produce the PGM-3s
i like sound
So awesome!
I am 14 and i use the mick thomson ibanez, which have a wide a neck and i use 11-58 string in drop B, and i never find out that it is hard to bend string.
i love this man
Lefty? Left handed version? any chance making these for lefties like me???
These are bad ass!!

They work well with the Poplar body and maple neck.
And thank you , I love mine , an amazing guitar for the money , if it had been twice the price I would have bought it !
Make a PG short scale with a Fireman body!
Curious what the clean tones are like, and how well it works for other styles....
Adolf Hedgehog clean sounds good, but depends on your amp
Paul, I need the Tabs for the 3 string guitar…😎🙈✌️🎼🎸😅😂🤣🥸
Anyone know what gauge and brand strings Paul uses on these Mikro guitars?
pabslondon Ernie balls, at a guess 9's or 10's depending on how he feels throughout a tour
Essa guitarra ta disponível no Brasil?
Super cool 😎
still the best
ive got big hands but due to being born with a disability the rest of me is small, short torso etc, i tried full size guitars and it just wasnt happening, but 3/4 size is great. and im not embarassed as a 45 year old to use them
Kinda wondering if it would be good to invest in better tuners for it?
Yes. I put Gotoh 21:1 tuners on mine. Slowed down the tuning a bit, which is fine on short scale guitars.
How does one go about mounting a guitar in a way that it would be playable? Anyone??
This is my firsts guitar
This dude's guitar face is golden
guarantee Ibanez made this in a USA model for him. The retail ones are made in Indonesia.
Seriously I want him to go use this signature series of his instead of the fireman.
THis guitar would be much better with 22 frets.
only three switching positions? single can not be included?
It has coil splits. Though the pickups are quite contemporary sounding very bright and hot. Great for Paul style of music.
The guitar has bags of tonal possibilities.
Keep Rocking Paul
:D :D :D :D :D :D
Pablo Gilberto!!!!
I like this one so much but not the out tune.
what kind of pickup height's
Gotta have it! :-)
mine will arrived on monday 😁, Paul could actually do an octave lick in 1 string on that scale
I wish ibanez will release a pgm200 mikro thats a killer guitar
