The biggest reason why you are not supposed to marry your cousins is because of health reasons. It doubles the risks and chances of your kids having what issues are prominent with that side of the family. (It was recently that I figured out that cousin love was more common than I thought.)

I personally know of a case where cousins married and had children. Even though this is not morally right this can work out okay. In most places it is illegal for cousins or siblings to be married. How the people get around this, is they don't indicate this to the person performing the marriage. Royalty has been doing this practice for centuries. It is true there were many genetic problems from this.
we had a family friend who married his cousin and had kids with her. The children have all kinds of medical issues and can't function normally, on top of all that people know about it and the kids go through hell at school. In my eyes I find the parents selfish putting the children in these positions.
