- Hey guys, so I recently purchased a 1000$ sound system from future shop.. I got a Dual 10" kicker subwoofer, and a 1200 watt kicker amplifier. There were some bundles where you get an amp and a subwoofer for around 250-350$ however if your looking for that outstanding sound, that will really impress people, kicker and alpine are the brands you wanna look for. Your cheaper option would be MTX. You can get a dual 12" subwoofer with an amp for around 350$ and will still produce great bass. However once you get to those top levels the quality will go down and you may notice some vibrations. I have a Single Kicker C12 and it hits harder that both of those. But idk why people think it’s okay to turn the gains all the way up and then turn up the bass on the Head unit, even tho it doesn’t help but blow out your door speaker

Geez people give him a break. Yes he got royally ripped off but that doesn't mean you guys need to be assholes about it. If anything you should be giving him advice so he knows what to look for & say whenever he upgrades or does another sound system for a different car.
My advice for you buddy is "Research, Research & more Research".
It's very rare to find an audio shop that won't try to nickel & dime you (at least where I live in CA) & that charges double & even sometimes triple on there products retail sale. I've made the same mistake on my first car many many years ago.

At the beginning of the video when you said you spent a 1000 dollars on your sound system, i was like... aigh't, I dig that, the guy could be an audiophile. Then you showed us the trunk and the subs... I was thinking to myself, there has to be something more than that.. So I was expecting, a kick ass speakers in the Cab, with the fly ass center unit with a touch screen and stuff, but when it ended only with a box and two Kickers in it.... That was a huge waste of money. I believe those subs rock your world, and you like they way they feel in the cabin, but just like many other posts, you could've gotten all of that for much much less, and would still be as impressed as you seem on the video. If you wanted to get more bass, you should've upgrade your stock speakers first to something more powerful, get them nice and sweet, and afterwords you improve your sound with a sub.... Someone earlier said, you should've done your homework on the internet first, before spending all the money. Unless, you are full of shit, you did spend a few hundreds on it, but faking that you spent a thousand...

I completely agree with you, at the beginning when he said almost a grand on that set up, I was like oh damn. I spent $200 on 2 10" kenwoods + compatible box + compatible amp all brand new off craigslist... They're still rockin till this day never had a problem. The previous owner only used them for 2 months and got rid of them cause he had a baby. It was the real deal, no ripoff, even though it was craigslist, it has been the best thing ive ever baught off craigslist.

i gotta agree i was expecting more for a $1000. For around $600 i got a pioneer deck, kicker amp 4 channels, 2 channel sub amp, a 12" Kicker comp, 2 kenwood 280 watts tweeters, 4 kicker 4" door speakers, and a ported box 😂.
another piece of advice for the license plate rattle, go to home depot, get some weather strip tape for 3 dollars and tape it to the back of the license plate. Get some insulating foam or preferablly closed cell foam and stuff it in any hollow cavity of the car to reduce rattles and increase the sound pressure level a bit for a little bit louder and impactful bass. Works 10 times better then second skin/dynamat.
Kicker does give you a nice accurate sound, and clean power from them, by far not the best brand out there but still cant really go wrong with some comps

This poor guy. They saw him pull up in a BMW and knew they could screw him. This is why you should always do the research before hand and talk to people who know what they're doing (that aren't trying to sell something to you). I just got a pair of Rockford Fosgate 12" Punch 3's with a 1200 watt fosgate amp, run and installed for around $600. It sounds beautiful and blows anything I've had prior out of the water. You can hear and feel my system coming down the road from inside your house. I feel really bad for you being talked into Kickers. BUT, I will say that if you like them and they do what you wanted them to do, there's no problem. A product is only worth as much as the buyer is willing to pay. If you're satisfied, that's all that matters.

When talking audio you got Sound Quality, Sound Pressure Level and SQL is a mix of both. I've got a SQ setup in my car using Dynaudio tweeters and mids with 2x Morel Ultimo 12 subs.
+A Vong Kicker is great for the average dude who wants some bump, but not to slam; I started with kicker and now I'm buying a Soundqubed HD3.118. so it's also a starting point for people to test the waters and decide whether they like it without dumnping 330 on a sub and ~500 on an amp.

I now upgraded to Type R's 10's. feels a lot better for what I was aiming for. hope your comps are going good for you.

I have the same sub. It sounds real good with 500w rms kicker mono amp straight up until the seal gave way. I flipped it upside down and its a temporary fix but now I'm watching videos trying to figure out how to reseal the box. Someone said pull the speakers and add glue from inside but im still doubtful thats all it needs as when I press on the box I can hear it crackling
Kickers are amazing sound great and are very tough I love my 2 10s
KICKER amps are one of the best on the market right now. They came a long way. From middle of the road to one of the best. They are the only company that gives you a dyno birth certificate in the box. Letting you know exactly how much power the amp will be putting out. Unlike most of the other brands that say 2000watts and only dyno at 800. If a kicker amp is rated at 800watts RMS, U can be sure it's gonna surpass what it says the wattage is. My 800w amp dyno at 1200. Not to mention all the new technology they put in to the new Amps. I'm running two 10inch subs with a KICKER 800watt mono sub amp, and this little amp is a BEAST!!! A TOTAL BEAST!!! AND I ONLY HAVE THE GAIN SET AT HALFWAY. I JUST UPGRADED MY DOOR SPEAKERS TO KICKER 6.75. I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER. THEY SOUND AMAZING. EVEN WITH THE STOCK AMP THEY SOUND AMAZING!!I just bought a 4way kicker amp for my fronts. To equal out the crazy amount of bass coming from the trunk.

MLGiPhaZze kicker are one of the best brand I prefer they are loud af i got the same speakers you got but mine are 12's and I have them for 2 years and my speakers still going strong with 2 1500 watt amp each wit all my door speakers and tweeters are kicker so you couldn't go wrong with kicker bro.

I'm getting 2 15" kickers, box, amp, and wiring for about $500 total everything brand new. (installing myself) You got overcharged lol. But if you got it locally, that would explain a lot. Most people forget that local places charge more so they can make a profit.

stock stereos are fine in newer cars (depending on the car), but I would recommend getting an after market stereo for older cars . if you wanted it could be a $40 boss stereo as long as it has good amp specifications but you just need a digital stereo, it doesn't matter if it is cheap as long as it is not a piece of junk. you can actually get a car stereo for under $100

Nice job on opting for the 10 inchers. I run a 10inch Kicker Solo X with a kicker 2500.1 amp and it pumps so damn hard!! But not only does it pump hard as hell but the sound quality is so crisp and clear. And it’s also durable as hell

If your subs are sealed, don't bump with the trunk open. Also, if you have a hatchback, avoid seAled, it'll still sound great, but the pressure needs to equalize inside and outside the box or it'll burn it out quicker. Don't avoid doing it yourself, just do your homework first. I've never payed anyone to do anything, you gotta start somewhere.

Rockford fosgate #1 and its so easy to install it it took me 5 min to set up my whole system and 10 more min to get 2 door speakers and 2 rear speakers and then 40 min making my own center roof sound bar

Best Buy installed my car alarm and my ignition switch, headlight and turn signal switch shorted out because of shitty wiring. While the car alarm was malfunctioning daily. I fixed that stuff and reinstalled the car alarm MYSELF and it has not messed up once.

You got ripped off, bro. Kickers are one of the worst subwoofers out there. If you want a good sub(s) go with memphis, Sundown Audio, DC, or something like that. You could get a system that sounds 1000 times better for the same price or cheaper.

And Memphis is one of the best! And yes you can get a Memphis system for one grand a M5 12 is $240 and a Memphis Amp is $300 and you can be a man and actually learn how to install your system yourself.

The thing is just like any car audio brand, you can buy a cheaper version of the speakers at walmart. If you went to bestbuy or audio play ground you would find better quality. Kickers are known to take twice the power recommended and still slap hard. They are good quality and you are just a simple bandwagon kicker hater
I don't understand why everyone under me is fucking ranting about how much kickers suck. I have two 12's in the back of my hatchback (both kicker) and they sound amazing. Very responsive and give out crisp, tight and clear bass. 300 rms, 600 peak each powering it with a kenwood 1000w amp. The two front and rear speakers are jbl gto's And the tweeters on my dash are also jbl gto's powered by a Jensen 760.9 w 4 channel amp. To each their own. 2004 Pt Cruiser Limited 2.4L (won two bass contests for crisp/clear sound)

Kickers are junk! sounds like someone beating a tree with a plastic bat. You want a good middle of the road system for sound quality go with Alpine. But for $1000 you could of got a nice JL or even sundown audio setup. I spent less than $300 and my single 10" setup hits way harder than that.
i bought a single sundown X10 and a SAZ-1500D but i havent hooked them up yet :( i spent 285$ on the sub preorder and my amp was 525$

I bought 4 jbl speakers, 2 12” alpine S series sub woofers, 2400W Kicker amp plus wiring kit , the second most expensive touch screen pioneer headunit they had plus the mounting bracket, a metra ported dual sub enclosure, all the wiring, harnesses, and bypasses (since my car is newer), a back up camera, all on 4 year plans plus installation all for $1900 what’d they do to you fam?!?!

Currently for your money and according to most review sites i have been yes JL and Alpine are the highest reviewed and best for sound quality on the market. I don't review subs for a living but if you do maybe I will take your word for it... but since i doubt you do why don't you do people a favor and keep your mouth shut =) ty

OspreyBravo18 What Longlost said. I have a cheaper pair of MTX 12" in my daily driver that were cheaper by $50 each. My subs are rated at 200rms the Kicker "equivalent" is rated at 250rms. WHY would you pay $50 extra for 50w RMS more? Oh I know it's the brand that's why. If you search around you can get way better subwoofers than Kickers.

I will admit from personal experience that Kicker subs really do hit hard, but the fact that you paid $1000 for 2 10's blows my mind. You simply spent way more money than you needed to man
i don't see why everyone is hating on kickers. i have 2 kicker 10s only running 300 watts in a custom sealed box and it hits harder than my friends american bass 15 in a pro box. Although kickers are not that expensive he got ripped a new ass by the installer...
flip that box around and put it towards the back of the trunk for better performance. A lot better. Open your pass through if you have one or make a port.
most people on UA-cam with bass videos have no vocals to their stereo meaning they don't get decent speakers and have a good amp pushing them all.. but them kickers kick pretty hard

I see people in these comments saying that kicker is only for beginners. Yes this guy got totally ripped off for his system but still. I have a SQL setup in my car with nothing but kicker stuff and it's in my everyday driver. Don't hate on kicker because they aren't bad at all
It's a 3 series BMW... the battery is in the right rear... why did they "run" cable for the amp from the front? I'm confused.
Get yourself an aftermarket stereo head unit because using a auxiliary jack, Bluetooth, or USB will give you better sound quality than using a fm transmitter or a cassette adapter. But if you have to use a cassette adapter, get/use the Monster iCarPlay Cassette Adapter.
This video is so old.. But I'll add in is, if your happy with it that's all that matters to you, "the consumer," are there better products out there? Yes, of course.. This is an entry level product, are their other entry level products that will give you more bang for your buck? Absolutely.. Did you pick the best one? Not in my opinion but that's an opinion to you, it's not what you hear or feel.. So do what's best for you and not everybody else.. But I'm inclined to agree that Sundown does put out some very very nice products for entry level price, an opinion but it's up to you..

I got a full system for 1000 dollars (Regular 1500. I got: A nice pioneer deck. A 4 channel kicker amp for my speakers. JL audio fronts with cross overs (350 dollars for 2 speakers) and JL backs. A Hertz 500D 10" subwoofer in a ported box powered by a Alpine 1000 watt amp. Installed myself fairly easy. I only messed up and forgot that my car has a power antenna so I needed to soldier my remote turn on to the antenna. I will fix that in the summer. I have my subwoofer on nearly the lowest it will go with my deck set at 0. Even a single 10 inch will shake the mirrors and windows and make your car make sounds that you don't like hearing. Is my setup good? Are the JL and Hertz brands good? I believe my speakers are like JL 600 somethings.
Damn bro those kicker comps are only bout 200 watts a piece with a grand u coulda gotten a psi level 2 and a good hifonics Brutus 1700 and all ur wiring and woulda definitely been bangin harder
