I've been sitting on this project for the last three weeks and finally it's ready - big thank you to Jackson (@jackson.vickery) and Jet (@jetkyechong) for not only helping me perform and record this project, but also develop the parts for it that I wasn't too sure about. I've never written something this big before so hope you all like it! Let me know in the comments below if you would play this piece 😁 (I can just hear someone saying 'FINALLY not a slow sad piece from Adam' hahaha). #TheStudioFamily
Hi Adam, could you do a video sometime about how to care for a marimba (both padouk and rosewood) and things about cracked and broken bars? Im not sure if I'm doing things right with mine and everytime I look it up there seems to be different opinions on things. LOVED the new piece btw.
Ah I've never had a problem with cracked bars, but my marimba is always indoors kept and in a dry room. I was keen to make a video about instrument care with some opinions from experts sometime this year so thank you for reminding me! And thanks for listening :))
That was fantastic! If I had access to two 5.0 octave marimbas, I'd definitely try to learn this with some friends. In the meantime though, I'm currently learning Hope! Keep up the awesome work, Adam! Truly brilliant!
First off, this piece is is sick!! Great job Adam! Secondly, I think a cool thing to do (maybe later), is convert one of (or both) the marimba parts to a 4.3 octave marimba so more schools and universities can have access to this piece as well. Awesome job regardless!!
@@AdamTanPercussion the project was about historical figures of music and what they’ve contributed to the music world, and I was like dang that dude with the chill room and the marimbas looks like he has something going on that I don’t know about. I did some research and it turns out that you’ve actually given mallet percussion a chance to grow out on an international scale, so I found it fitting to put you up there with the all-greats. Also your song titles are catchy and I really needed some hope. Conveniently I think there’s a song with that exact name😉
@@thomaspate9328 ahhh I'm honoured, you make me sound way better than I actually am!! Thank you so much for featuring me in your project, that means a lot to me 🥳
Okay I know who exactly who I want to play this with, may have to figure out how to play/re-write on 4.3 octave marimba, but definitely something I wanna preform by my senior year
This is an amazing piece of work. I do a lot of music composition and I am beyond amazed with this piece and everything you write. I am a sophomore at mansfield university and I am playing the marimba 2 part with 2 other percussionists in my studio. Please keep up the amazing work. You are such an inspiration to people who are still getting a hold on playing mallet percussion. People Like me haha
Hey Jack! For the marimbas we used Behringer C-2s, I think the drum overhead is possibly Rode NT-1A and the taikos are SM58s. Audio interface is Focusrite 18i8 3rd Gen :)
Woaaaah this is dope, it's easily an A Tier for me haha. I've seen many comments talking about the piece being for 5 Oct marimbas, but hey, it's not that hard to adapt for 4.3 and give the bass line to a nice piano (it won't be a trio anymore but it'll maintain the sweet bad ass bassline) Anyway, congrats Adam and team!!! Also, the drummer nailed it :)))
Ahhh I'm glad it made it past B Tier HAHA... that would be a cool idea actually to adapt it to a piano, I guess you still need two 4.3 marimbas though... I'll make sure to tell him :)))
Great Performance!!! The one thing that could've been better were the snare drums. The snare drum tuning didn't sound crisp/have enough pizaz into it but that's pretty much it.
Sounds amazing! It could sound even more amazing if maybe the marimbas were a little louder in the mix and the drums adam and jet play had a little more low end, maybe captured with something other than an sm57? Still, sounds amazing, great job adam!
*Paycheck comes in* Me: I should save for my this semester or invest! Adam: * uploads a new piece* Me, lacking both marimbas or people to play the piece with : haha PayPal go brrrr Seriously, great job with this :)

I can't wait Adam! :D
Adam and Jet: We memorised it all!
Jackson: What's a memory...
Hahaha his part is hard thoughhhh
This looks like a lot of fun! If only my school had two 5.0 octave marimbas haha
Ahhh yeah that's why I try not to write for this too often haha. Hope you get a chance to play in a place with two soon!
I never realized how lucky I am for the fact that we have three five octaves at our highschool
Very different from the car videos, but so glad I clicked. Beautiful piece, fantastic performance.
Man I wish someone from any corp in DCI sees this masterpiece and make it a part of their show in the future. Good job guys, especially to you Adam!!!
1:31 reminds me of the arpeggio in Meet Again! I love this piece so much!
Wow! Just wow! This is marvelous man. Please keep composing more music. I’ve loved every piece so far!

That would be cool! I'll have to think of how to do that cause I really like dat bass line haha but it's a good idea. Thank you for listening!!
I did a research project on you for band finals. Thanks for doing so much for mallet percussionists your work is awesome dude!
Whatttt that's so awesome Thomas! What was the project about? Thank you so much for your support :)

Hey Adam, it's really really awesome and I love it, but I can't afford a 5 Octave Marimba, please create some more content for 3 Octaves!
can't wait to see this used in DCI 2021/2022

Ah thank you so much Jeremy, this means so much to me! I look forward to seeing your rendition of it!
Hi Adam,
What grade in ameb do you think this would be suitable for?
Grade 8 I think :)
omg this is so cool
As a taiko player that misses play taiko due to the pandemy, I LOVED THIS
YAY 😁
Hey Adam! Great playing! What mics and audio interface were you using for this piece?

Great Performance!!! The one thing that could've been better were the snare drums. The snare drum tuning didn't sound crisp/have enough pizaz into it but that's pretty much it.
We agree with you, the snare was definitely a last min addition hahaha
Sounds amazing! It could sound even more amazing if maybe the marimbas were a little louder in the mix and the drums adam and jet play had a little more low end, maybe captured with something other than an sm57? Still, sounds amazing, great job adam!
1:06 that anime opening reference is thiCC :p
An animal of the blue variety 😌
たいこ、すごい!
はいはい~ 太鼓が好きです😌
I like how your solos gave one word names, your duo’s have 2 word names and your trios have 3 word names😂
Makes it easier for people to choose what they wanna play ahahaha
Well i guess i got to wait till college to play this one as i dont have a 5.0 marimba, let alone 2 😔
Ah yes... I try not to write so many 5.0 works now because of this. Maybe next one will be a 4.3 duo haha
*Paycheck comes in*
Me: I should save for my this semester or invest!
Adam: * uploads a new piece*
Me, lacking both marimbas or people to play the piece with : haha PayPal go brrrr
Seriously, great job with this :)
HAHAHA you made me spit my water. Thank you for listening!
It reminds me about pirates of the caribbean
Nintendo, hire him.
Something other than marimba lol. Just kidding, keep it up
Hahaha you right though!
