The rain will help you find those little areas so your able to fix them now, insulation looks great. Gutting it all was the smart way to go that way you could fix things all up rather than down the road
Turtle is looking better and better Alex. Looks like you are doing a great job on the stud work and insulation board. Thanks for sharing your progress!
Well done, Alex! You continue to make great progress! I think you will find that learning through experience is one of the best teachers and one that allows you to also easily remember what you have learned. Looking forward to your next video! Happy New Year to YOU and LELA!
Even though it’s been a lot of work, in the long run you will be doing less repairs and maintenance by restructuring and waterproofing. You’ll have a safer environment for you and Lylia.
Happy new year Alex. Glad you’ve got a carbon monoxide alarm, good lad😉 You’ve got a lot done, it’ll all come together & start looking good as new soon.
Happy New Year Alex and Layla!! Wishing you many successful travels with "Turtle" in 2025! But mostly to France, we miss seeing you filming at the Convent!
Very exciting progress, Alex! You are learning as you work, which I GREATLY admire!! You will have the satisfaction of knowing the "guts" of Turtle, knowing all is sound.
Great job Alex you have learned a few things from Billy and all your family as well. Insulation will help to strengthen the shell of the camper and road worthy. Have a great day
It’s coming along great. I know it’s been more work than anticipated but now you know it’s repaired well. So thankful for your uncles help and support. I love these videos!
Your channel is definitely one of my favorites and hoping other folks catch on and your subscriber number grows. You've earned it and deserve it. This video is a winning trifecta - educational, funny, and Lela - perfect!
Great progress, Alex! Nice that you have made the frame sturdy again, and are starting your insulation! That was a good system you had lettering everything! Carry on, Alex!! Love from Pennsylvania 💕🌷🐻
hoping there are no more leaks in the future. To prevent leaks on an RV roof, regularly inspect the roof for signs of damage like cracks, holes, or deteriorating sealant, clean it to remove debris, and promptly repair any issues you find; this includes resealing seams and areas around vents, skylights, and air conditioning units with a specialized RV roof sealant designed to withstand UV rays and weather elements. To avoid any leaking, thoroughly clean all roof seams' area (without removing the factory sealant) and ``paste'' over with self leveling sealant. Same sealant used for roof vents and RV roofs: Dicor 501lsw. Recommended Self-leveling Sealants Dicor and Geocel both make well-regarded self-leveling sealants with RV applications in mind. Self-leveling sealants spread out as they cure, making them especially good for ensuring a uniform seal over large areas. For RV roof repairs, silicone or polyurethane-based sealants are highly recommended. These sealants are flexible, waterproof, and durable, providing long-lasting protection against leaks and weather damage.
@AlextheCameraman. Thank you and to you too and your family. Best of health is the most important 😀 btw I'm originally from Brittany in France but been in the UK for 29 years. I know a little bit about the convent area where you film for Billy 😋
Fantastic progress ❤❤❤ Turtle is looking better each day …. Suggestion don’t be in to much of a hurry to throw away the wooden cupboard twisty hold closed things the best magnets still giggle open on the road ❤ See you on the next one 😊
Actually Alex might be best and easiest to just film updates rather than trying to film as you do the work. Pretty sure it’s super time consuming to keep fixing camera angels while your focused on getting the work done. I love seeing all the progress. Well done.
Good progress Alex. Enjoying watching your project. Can already see how nice its going to all look once finished and that you are not cutting corners in making sure its dry sealed insulated before making it look pretty again. Loved Leyla supervising you while cutting insulation board sheets. she will be nice and toasty when you both go out on the road in Turtle. Till the next vlog...
Ooooo, ahhhhh; the silver is much nicer than pink. Have a think on this; Hushmat on the subfloor. Much better than Kilmat, due to the added insulation properties, kilmat doesn't have. The bus builder swears by it & the gal redoing an old RV also swears by it.😉👍
🎉Happy New Year Alex & beautiful Leila🎊 Turtle will look great when it’s all done. Looking forward to that. Well done Alex & all your helpers as well especially Leila supervising giving her paws 🐾 🐾 of approval.👏🏻👏🏻.
Your optimism is commendable, but frankly, with all the cracks, hikes, leaks and rotten bits, it is a miracle the whole structure has not started to collapse like a pack of cards even before you bought it . Still, you are well on your way to achieve your goal and start the year on a happy note.🎉❤
A great, cheap and easy way to check for drafts is with a lit candle and check all the joints, corners etc etc when if flickers you have a draft. You won’t catch them all first time around but slowly and surely you’ll get them plugged.
Wow, you are moving along in leaps and bounds Alex! This is getting more and more exciting....I love a good re-do! You are an ambitious smart young man!
Turning your roof supports Vertical would be a lot stronger ( cut / sand the ends to fit in the tighter spaces as needed ) . Were you can, try to have the Vertical Wall Suds one solid piece from floor to ceiling . It will stiffen and strengthen the walls . If you can glue the studs and beams to the aluminum panels the hole thing will stronger and Quieter when Driving . Hope you have a Happy New Year form the " Canadian Contractor "
ALEX make sure you fill all those corners with a bit of expanding foam will keep drafts out so you don’t get condensation buildup. Even if some squishes out you can easily cut off access with utility knife.
I’m gonna be honest here, I have no idea what mastic is. I even googled it and still don’t understand….lol but it’s getting the job done. Glad to see the insulation going in!
So glad to see Leila without her harness. My daughter is a vet tech and says an extensive study was done that showed that no matter which harness was tested, they all changed the dogs’ gaits. I say cumbersome, restrictive and unnecessary. Loving your channel.
The skin needs attaching to the frame for strength. An overall skin of plastic inside to prevent condensation starting the rotting process of your new frame and to be air tight to the body.Happy New Year Alex.
Great progress Alex. I was thinking maybe you should measure the door for a slab of insulation for when you travel in the winter months, it might help to keep the inside warmer? You wouldn’t stick it on, more place it on the door maybe with duck tape?
Alex ,can you explain how the timber frame you made is going to support the outer skin frame body as your frame as air gap between frame and skin most camper vans of that time were, bonded together with fibre glass and resin or you can buy polymer glue in tubes to stick one face of the timber to the metal skin as your wooden frame was originally done before it rotted. Thats our i replaced frames in my caravans repairs years ago .ps keep up the goodwork.👍👍.
Happy New Year Alex and Lela, the Turtle...aka the campervan, is getting there. I can't wait until you have a sleep away gig, and you get to put you labor of love to use. Well, done, you have had some setbacks, (including the weather) but overall, this didn't take too long, Well done, looking forward to next week's video. Love from N.Y.
Great progress, Alex. Looking forward to an exciting 2025 when you start roaming around with your revamped van.
The rain will help you find those little areas so your able to fix them now, insulation looks great. Gutting it all was the smart way to go that way you could fix things all up rather than down the road

Fabulous work Alex! Great progress!!😊

Well, turtles definitely don't like leaks in their houses, so I am sure Turtle is VERY HAPPY.
Lela...lol....she is at home wherever YOU are Alex....I marvel at your patience for this extensive renovation..HOPE FOR 2025 all!
You have achieved loads well done
HAPPY NEW YEAR Alex!! 🥂🎆🌲🎊🎉😋
Wish I could be there to help you out….. but you seem to have a great family, to assist!
All the best to you this year!
Turtle’s starting to look solid and waterproofed. Great job Alex and Layla!
Very exciting progress, Alex!

Love the bits of progress, one step at a time! The insulation is wonderful. Have a great week!

Myrtle the Turtle is starting to look amazing ! I know I have added another name to her real name but I like it!😊
Hello Alex. Do whatever works. I didn't see a problem cutting what you needed on a stable flat instead of a wobbly upright.
So glad to see Leila without her harness.
My daughter is a vet tech and says an extensive study was done that showed that no matter which harness was tested, they all changed the dogs’ gaits. I say cumbersome, restrictive and unnecessary. Loving your channel.

Happy new year xxxxx 🎉
Happy New Year Alex. That insulation should really help it feel so much warmer in there. Take care. Nick
Lovely!
Good lad, keep going.
The skin needs attaching to the frame for strength. An overall skin of plastic inside to prevent condensation starting the rotting process of your new frame and to be air tight to the body.Happy New Year Alex.
You have quite the job there Alex. We've done similar worker to a camper...not fun or easy!
Great progress Alex. I was thinking maybe you should measure the door for a slab of insulation for when you travel in the winter months, it might help to keep the inside warmer? You wouldn’t stick it on, more place it on the door maybe with duck tape?
