Worked here for 11yrs.... brings back some good memories, sad to see the old girl in a bad way in the video, well everything in the video has gone, it's just a shell now. RIP Uskmouth B, maybe we will see you in the future as a battery park. 😢😢
Someone really needs to preserve the software on that equipment, it's as historically significant as some of the bricks and mortar. Awesome explore BTW, your early starts are appreciated.
That looks like it was filmed a while ago. I was there last year doing some final disconnections from the grid feed. The explosion was caused by an OCB (oil circuit breaker) gassing. A guy from the drawing office got back to his desk and could smell something. He left the office to check with control. As he left the OCB blew taking out the walls between the switchroom, the toilet and his drawing office. He was lucky to have timed it just right. BTW, Uskmouth has been used on a couple of occasions as a film site for Dr. Who.
Must have missed that. Thought it was a while ago as all the building damage from the explosion has been fixed. Be unlucky to see any workmen there now. When I was there last there was just 1 guy on site. I'm glad there was as we managed to get our cherry picker stuck in the gravel in the switchyard. Got towed out by the sites forktruck
Thanks for a great take on this, one of the last, which you managed to capture for history a powerhall of industry and strength. I've ordered your magazine so look forward to reading it.
Absolutely love this videos lads as I felt a little bit connected to it when I seen that it was Howden Turbines & Motors in the turbine hall. James Howdens were a Scottish Company in Scotland Street, Glasgow and I was fortunate enough to be an apprentice there back in the mid 70s. As always your quality of videography is outstanding and really loved the Control Rooms especially as they were still powered up.
Worked on this site back in 2012 Contractors. Filtration change in the cages on that same roof you guess are on. Looks the same obviously without the scaffolding there
Amazing insight into Uskmouth, only live around the corner from it, had my drone above it back a while ago, had some great shots! Bravo guys, wish I had the time to get back into all this!
You did great to get in there when you did. All the turbines, generating sets, boilers, coal mills have been cut up, taken out and scrapped. Apparently, cracks have been found in the concrete supports and floors of the main hall. It's also rumoured to be chock-full of asbestos which means removal would cost millions before any demolition of the main structure could take place. I've been on site a few times for my old job but sadly I couldn't sneak off and get photos.
Hi Alistar how are you doing mate? Great video as always well edited with perfect background music added to the eary scenes its a real shame that this old power station in Wales has closed down and is no longer in use, this place is huge with most of the machinary still inside intact speccially the control room plus the turbines too some of this stuff could be moved and setup in a museum speccially the bits in the control room as they would look awsome inside there, amazing that the control room still had power running with the computers still booted up the stuff could be reused if it was usable in todays standard to be used sad that the WIFI didnt work thats due to the Windows thats on the computer is out of date plus wouldnt load on the computer properly if it did end of the day they didnt care to switch off the power compltely and just kept it running anyways i hope your having a good afternoon so far Alistar and keep up the great content on your channel as its so enjoyable and entertaining to watch 👍
I'm all good mate! Thank you for the kind comment as always. Appreciate the thoughts on the music too, as we spent a good time picking out the perfect tracks. Totally right - many things in the station could have gone to a museum but are sent to the scraps. Thanks again pal!
Demolition has now started on the flue gas treatment units, they've now exposed the old windowed back wall of the station where the six flues exited the building. There has been a lot removed from the turbine hall too, and dumped around the back of the station where its been cut up and shipped out. I don't know if they'll ever generate again, I think not, but there is likely to be a battery storage site there in the coming years.
Looking on Google maps, this is Uskmouth B and Uskmouth A was replaced with the Severn power station which has been mothballed by the bankrupt Calon group, along with Sutton Bridge station. The station at Baglan Bay has been abandoned.
Brilliant explore guys, loved the old control rooms, I’m uncertain if power station control room computers would be connected to the net but it was a rather dated operating system possibly XP but not 100% but seemed old
WOW Nice job ! next video, take some pictures of the data plates on those big motors and the electric panels. that explosion was scary. Im sure they found out what caused it. Back then power plants were exempt from the national electric code. (NEC) Again nice job and all you guys be careful.
"the wifi did not", I seriously doubt these PCs were ever connected to Wifi. 😂 They're 100% on a Ethernet connection where the network hardware has been removed.
For anyone fooled into thinking those wind turbines provide either sufficient or reliable power look for the Gas Turbine Power Plant that provides reliability at 14:27 …

Why are all the computers still on bro whats all that about 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
worked there as an apprentice during the eighties brough back some great memory's thanks guys great video.
You may have known my granddad who was the station manager

Interesting place. Crazy to see the damage done in the room where the explosion occurred. Thank goodness everyone was ok
It was fascinating, wasn't it? Agreed, could have gone a lot worse
One of the most interesting abandon videos I’ve seen in a long time. I’m a hint jealous of the luck to see something like this
Love the old power plants, so amazing and you guys do great job documenting them.
Thank you, someone has to!

They said at the beginning that it was filmed in 2021

Indeed, 2021. Thank you for that story, truly amazing! Thank god he was alright
Is the power station next door operating? Severn power station.
I'm not sure but I think it's still mothballed after going into administration along with Sutton Bridge and Baglan back in 2021.
I used to work at a Power Station like Uskmouth. Rugeley A Power station in 1986 it had 120MW Generators like those at Uskmouth.
We wish we had seen Rugeley, just missed that one by a couple years
Great explore and local to me. How eerie to see the control rooms powered up
Thanks for a great take on this, one of the last, which you managed to capture for history a powerhall of industry and strength. I've ordered your magazine so look forward to reading it.
Hope you enjoy!
Amazing to see the old control room, and view from roof was awesome 😊
Fantastic explore as always! Those control rooms are amazing! 😁
Aren't they just!
As always a great exploration and editing ,perfect thank you 👍
Glad you enjoyed

Scottish machinery is everywhere we notice! We saw it abroad recently. Thank you ever so much
crazy how things were left on in the control room! perfect urbex find

My granded was the station manager for Uskmouth till about 1993, I've got a piece of one of the turbine blades
Amazing insight into Uskmouth, only live around the corner from it, had my drone above it back a while ago, had some great shots! Bravo guys, wish I had the time to get back into all this!
Very very very cool!!!!
What a great find, thanks for sharing guys
Thanks guys for another great exploration, I really enjoyed watching cheers.
Well done guys, another fantastic video Just like all the other power stations you visited and the steelworks keep it up guys
Thank you we will

You'd hope nothing in there was connected to the internet. Could be disastrous.
Such a sick channel guys appreciate all the effort and passion that yous put into your videos🙏❤️
It served it's life and made millions.
Absolutely
love your channel. Please keep up the good work.
Amazing the power was on! 😱😱
you said a perfect line and sadly so true character lacking buildings of today real shame.
Excellent video and a very enjoyable watch.
I loved the little intro clip of you explaining the video! I hope this becomes a normal thing.
It can become a regular occurence :)
Great upload as usual. Only just started warching but the camera work is fantastic. Well done
Much appreciated
Eerie that the computers are still on logged in for years
Great video, once again! Thanks!
Yes...
We notice that all of a sudden a lot of our power stations seemed to be suffering these little "accidents"
☹🇬🇧

Brilliant work on this one.
Cheers buddy
Brilliant explore really well put together to sad in a way these all going.
One by one...

Great job guys great place and video too
That was a nice edit you did Keep up the great content
Thank you!
That subscribe request clip is so random and original I HAD to subscribe! 1:16 👍
That’s my local power station 👍 you should have popped in for a cup of tea👌

Great place love it Cool explore guys
Super cool

Windows NT maybe? But yes, certainly XP based.
@@SergeiJonovich I would need to re-watch it but yes deffo that era of OS NT is a good shout
Looks like those two PC's were running Windows NT with a third running XP.
Ahh thanks for confirming a blast from the past as used both before
Amazing
Cool place and editing 👍

NEC only applies in… America…

Great video, I hope you guys have Fiddler's Ferry PS in Warrington in your sights?
Legally I must say no
@@Urbandoneddid anyone have a look around Cottam power station near Retford, Nottinghamshire?
OH MY HEAVENS! Those computers are still logged in and on how the?
shaite 😳 amazing!
you walked straight in to a high voltage switch room.
it was all live 🫣
I‘d like to read the report on the incident.
That HV switchroom I doubt. Plant auxiliary switch room probably was though.
Great.
3.6, not great, not terrible.
Have yall tried saving blueprints or schmadics of these plants or there equipment beacuse they usually get thrown out when the place is leveled
yes
Love

What ab awesome place wouldn't like the electric bill
I noticed the Oregon shirt at the opening bit. That’s the state I live in the US. Curious if there’s connection or if it’s unrelated?
For anyone fooled into thinking those wind turbines provide either sufficient or reliable power look for the Gas Turbine Power Plant that provides reliability at 14:27 …
Be careful I'd imagine that place is laced with asbestos
Is this power station temporarily closed or forever?
forever as a coal fired plant
What caused the explosion 💥
It was one of the OCBs (Oil Circuit Breaker). It had been gassing for a while. Basically a lack of maintenance.
