- The Las Vegas Invitational held at Sportsplex Las Vegas on June 22-23 showcased an intense matchup between Seed 8 (Freestyle) and Seed 1 (Chosen Few). The game was filled with thrilling moments and exceptional performances from both teams.
One of the standout players of the game was Team Captain Marti Olayvar, who displayed a lockdown defense on Hawaii's ace player. Olayvar's defensive skills prevented Hawaii’s ace player from making his usual impact on the game and disrupted Hawaii's offensive rhythm.
Another key factor in the game was Mark Santos' consistent three-point shooting throughout the entire match. His accurate long-range shots kept Freestyle in the game and put pressure on the opposing team.
Marlon Rubi and Anthony Burdeos played a crucial role in the game as well. They executed a double-team strategy on defense, effectively stopping Hawaii's offensive plays and forcing turnovers. One such turnover led to a fastbreak opportunity for Rubi, who converted it into a crucial basket to send the game into overtime.
The overtime period was a showcase of tough defense on both ends of the court. Both teams displayed resilience and determination, resulting in a scoreless extension period. However, it was Freestyle point guard Kim Agay's fastbreak layup that ultimately sealed the victory for Seed 8 (Freestyle) on an endgame result of 58-56.
The Las Vegas Invitational provided an exhilarating display of skill, strategy, and teamwork. The intense matchup between Seed 8 (Freestyle) and Seed 1 (Chosen Few) will be remembered as a thrilling contest that showcased the competitive spirit of both teams.
