I would have liked to hear some alternative finishing choices, such as shellac, poly, linseed oil, etc. Especially when to use and not use them as it compares to Tung Oil. The piece did come out looking great.
If you use the acrylic first before the stain then the cedar it will look very shiny if that's what anyone liked all in all outstanding work.god bless you all .
A highly informative video. I have a red oak barrister bookcase that I've just finished building. How would you suggest finishing it? Would you put a sanding sealer on it first or stain it first. I would like a dark finish on it. Thank you.
I was hoping to see how the glass doors were stained to keep the stain off the glass. Is the glass removed then reassembled or is it masked with tape, or something else?
Retired painting contractor here. My guess would be remove glass, and not have to deal with the hassle of working around said glass, plus I would want finish on the back side of the front pieces!
Gosh that is beautiful, thanks so much for your advice. Take care, from South Africa
What a nice looking piece! I ordered some cedar colored gel stain for my project. Thanks for the idea!
Thanks for the very informative video…the finished product looks great!!

Nice!
Interesting choice of finish, i use Minwax Polycrilic finish. It takes 3 coats, and the stain depends on what i'm making.
