What a wonderful video. This takes a lot of work and planning to produce a video over such a long period of time. Thanks for your diligence and thank you for sharing your knowledge!
I'm sure it's been said, but the quality of information, clarity of presentation and quality of production of your videos are amazing. I have much to learn with pruning, and I will probably watch this a few times.
this is exactly what I have been looking for, easy to understand with yearly evolution of the tree. I gained important knowledge for my backyard orchard from your videos. Thank you very much for sharing. Much appreciated!
Great instructional video, thanks very much. Straight to the point with clear and concise voice over and image content. I learnt quite a bit here about apple pruning and appreciate the three year time span put into showing the effect of pruning actions.
Thanks for another great video J. I have always found 2D drawings in books difficult to visualise when I get to the real tree and have to make the decisions that you are making. This video really helped me to see the progress and changes that resulted from each of the cuts you made.
Thank you for the information from you. I learned how to feed on figs. I have one fig tree with 16 different species, all of which bear this thanks to you. Thank you.
I I found some water sprouts from a group of giant old apple trees. They range from small sprouts to wild bushes. I've been able to successfully replant them by carefully digging some up. I found your vedios first and haven't bothered to watch anyone else. Very informative and has helped a ton
As we are just starting out with new fruit trees, these videos are immensely helpful. Thanks for putting in so much time to help the world’s novice gardeners. I for one did not have much of a clue.
I've never felt like I've had a good sense of pruning. Good to know about some apple fruiting at the tips of branches. This may be a reason some of my trees haven't fruited...i chopped off where they wete going to. Thanks for a very helpful video.
I need to implement all your pruning techniques from here on out. My poor apple tree was budding and almost to producing fruit when a late frost hit it again this year, but it seems to be ok. I need to prune somewhat I bet. So your pruning videos are a big help.TYVM.👍☀️🌿
Hello, thank you very much for sharing your work, the truth is that this material is excellent, the evolution in years of a job well done and being able to see the results is invaluable. I wanted to ask you a question, the green / blue plastic that you have in the lower part of your trees, what function does it fulfill? Is it to protect the base of the tree trunk or what is its function? Thank you so much. I do not have fruit trees but I do Bonsai in an amateur way and with your work I have learned a lot about the subject of grafting to make several grafts of varieties of maple palmatum !!! Thank you very much for everything !!!
Thank you for the video and detailed pruning regime over 3 years. Could please let me know the rootstock variety you use. Regards, Harry , Melbourne Australia.
Where do you get the graft protectors? My grave storm has huge water spout clusters. I'm thinking of cutting the four main branches back to get those and maintain an umbrella shape low enough to pick the fruit.
I have just stumbled onto your channel and subscribed after watching the first tree. I am currently considering buying a tree farm in which I will establish a vegetable farm. I do have one question for you though. How do I recognize water sprouts that aren't growing vertically? Thank you for your time and the fantastic and informative videos. Please keep them coming!
Do you find that summer pruning encourages the formation for spurs? I've noticed more fruiting wood on my stone fruits that I summer prune, but my apple trees aren't quite old enough to need a lot of summer tipping yet (I mostly just remove water sprouts and branches growing toward the center).
Would the pruning methods( open center) be good to use on asian persimmon tree? Can I do the open center on an apple tree that has not been pruned properly and that is 6 years old? Thank you very much!
Quick question. I have a very young Red Delicious tree. We are only a month into spring . Had a lot of promising growth, then the deer ate most of the tips. Should I immediately prune down to outward facing buds to try to salvage the damaged branches or do I have to wait for next year? Thanks. Love your work.
Great video! Do you suggest light pruning throughout the spring and summer during the early years of a tree. Only removing branches growing inward and so forth. So the tree can focus its energy on the primary branches?
Dear sir I am writing to request seedlings and cion from your apple farm. As a fellow enthusiast, I hope to cultivate the same quality of apples that your farm produces. I would greatly appreciate your assistance in this endeavor. Thank you in advance.
I'd love to come stay with you and help you work on your orchard and learn your technique. Hell i'd work for free as long as your teaching me! I love watching you in your videos. Its a damned shame you have no one out there with you helping you.. i sure wish that i was ! By the way i love it when you have your beard its very nice! Your a handsome fella so keep up your outstanding work and great videos. Do you have an e-mail ?

How’d it go?
I don't know what Apple trees look like.
