I've had my orbifolia for 7 months and honestly it is so easy to take care of! I bottom water it around every 10 days (I just pick up the pot to see if it's heavy or not) and it's sat a fair few metres away from my humidifier but it has no browning or yellowing at all. It's so easy and I love it so much, I hope you have success with yours too

My Orbafolia had 4 leaves and now it’s out growing it’s 4in pot. It’s getting bright indirect light, I water it from the bottom an fertilize every other watering. What a cute Hoya. I can’t believe your baby is eating solid food, he is growing so fast. 💚😃

Maybe calathea care video is in order? I’ve killed every calathea I’ve owned, but I love them so much! I’ve killed three calathea white fusions, ornate, rattlesnake, Rosy. If I can figure out how to not kill them I will buy them again. They’re sooo pretty. And Kai’s face with human food was so cute and priceless!

What really helped with my calathea is using distilled/rain water and low/mid light!
I agree with the previous comment. Distilled water only. Low to medium light.
And they like lots of humidity
My son was a ridiculously adorable super happy baby and Kai puts his cuteness to shaaaame! Such a sweetheart 💜 you are doing an amazing job, Harli!

I call my Orbifolia The Queen Mother as she is sooo magestic! I bought it big but it gave me new shoots too and grew even bigger :) She lives in medium light, a few meters away from an east facing window, and I give her filtered water. She is in a soil mix from the nursery so nothing special, and is in a concrete pot with a hole. I put her on a pebble tray and she is next to other calatheas so the humidity is at ~70%+- all day. Almost no browning at the edges!
Every time I take my boyfriend plant shopping, he ALWAYS hovers near the bonsais to admire them too haha

I love my Calathea Orbifolia! The leaf stems droop when it is thirsty. As long as I water mine on the first day of droopiness, they are super happy!
Hi Harli! I have a calathea orbifolia and it’s about the same size as yours. I keep mine in the bathroom so it gets plenty of humidity. It’s to the side of a north facing window. And is planted in black gold cactus mix, orchid bark and pumice (learned from you!) I water it once a week and keep the leaves dusted. It seems happy!

My orbifolia is super happy. It's in medium light, 50-60% humidity, and I water it with distilled water and a few drops of fertiliser once a week (it's in a big pot).

Hi Harli!!! I have a White Fusion that I bought from online a month or so ago, stunning plant! It sat in quarantine inside of a table-top greenhouse for about a month (along with a marble queen and an n'joy). Treated all of them with Bonide Systemic (and will keep up with that every 8 weeks). No spidermites or other pests so far.. knock on wood!! I swear by that Bonide Systemic, it's good stuff!!!
I was eyeing up Calathea Orbifolias just last night, they are so beautiful! I love Calatheas in general.
I have my Orbifolia about three feet from a north facing window. I water it about once a week with rainwater or filtered water because this plant definitely hates tapwater. It is next to a small humidifier because this plant really loves humidity. It’s had a thrips issue and I treated it once and now it’s completely fine. I find this plant rather easy, but I reckon all plants are easy when they’re happy, so it’s all relative. Goodluck with your Orbifolia!

I just got home from a plant haul of my own and saw this video! Lol! We're in the same mindset right now as I just came home with some of the same plants as you just did. I love how beautiful calatheas are. Especially dottie... I love the pink and almost black colour. I couldn't find her in stores so ordered one online and waiting for delivery
I keep my orbifolia on a shelf on my bathroom right by my shower and have not had a problem with it browning yet. Although I do have a skylight in there too so it gets a good amount of light.
Hi Harli! Loved your video as usual. Kai is adorbs and your hubby's supportive plant comment was hilarious. Bet it was so wonderful to get out. :-) I have the C. Orbifolia and it's really not bad. It just needs humidity to stay happy and bright indirect light. I have a full spectrum led plant light on many of my Calathea. Can't wait for your Hoya video. I have several but used to have many. Lost them after 4 surgeries back to back and family not being able to care for them. You know how picky Hoyas can be. Take care and keep up the great videos. :-)
Hey, agree on the Calathea Care Tips so far. Orbifolia has been the easiest for me as long as I let it dry out because it does have thick roots. For the Epiphllyum: Yours is either over or underwatered rn bc the ends are turning yellow and brown. However I would lean towards overwatering - that pot it's in is looking enormous. I would cut of the tips so it doesn't spread, check the roots and downsize. Afterwards stick it in a West facing window or grow light, let dry out completely. You should be fine as it is one of my easiest plants once I got the pot size right.
My orbifolia was small when I got it via mail and it declined fairly quickly upon unboxing. The four leaves it came with turned into two within one month. I chopped one very brown leaf and left the last small barely healthy leaf and stuck her in a terrarium where she is now thriving. They need more humidity than any other calathea IMO. Oh and I have the terrarium under an artificial light. Good luck!!
I love my ric rac cactus! It’s a really easy plant. I’ve found it does best with bright indirect light. If it gets more direct light, it’ll turn red on the tips, which is kinda fun. Doesn’t need much water. Apparently they can bloom but mine hasn’t yet. Enjoy!!

Love my Venus fly traps! I keep a small saucer on the bottom of mine with distilled water. They can not dry out.
Also ric rac cactus I find are as easy as holiday cactus and other orchid cactus. I have mine in a north facing window and water them once a week. I keep them in terra-cotta pots so they don’t stay wet too long.
Hi! Calathea Orbafolia..mine loves bright light and moist soul. I have mine on a gravel tray. It is near a rattlesnake and a medallion. They are all happy!!

Those calathea are all beautiful 😍. Some hints for the flytrap if you run into any issues. I've been keeping flytraps for about 6 years now and have had lots of success. They do best outdoors in full sun but im sure it would do okay on a south facing window. Sometimes the ones from nurseries and big box stores will develop red coloration in the traps with good light. Also since its a bog plant it likes to be constantly wet so sitting it in a tray of water is best about an inch deep. Most growers recommend distilled water but if your water has low dissolved solids (TDS below 115) you can use tap. I keep mine outside all year round in trays of water and they die back and go dormant in the winter and begin growing again in the spring. They're really fascinating plants.
I have had really good luck with my Orbifolia! Mine gets pretty low light (northern exposure), moderate humidity (50-60%), and I keep the soil moist. Ive never really had any issues with it!

I'm glad he keeps his tires properly inflated at 34 PSI. Good man.
My orbifolia has been fairly easy. I water it every week with rainwater and she sits very close to the humidifer. If the humidity is below 60% her leaves will get droopy, but that’s it. She doesn’t get crispy edges or anything.

Everyone I know (myself included) who has had success with an orbifolia...kept them in the bathroom. I don’t know if that is necessarily a care tip, just something in common. It’s definitely one of my easiest plants
