Maya Shankar ON: How to Embrace Change Gracefully & Find Purpose in Difficult Times

  • Maya Shankar sits down with Jay Shetty to talk about taking lessons from other people’s stories. While it is easy to inspire people to change when you have the tools and right environment to inspire them, it’s difficult to change a person’s mind. This is because our mind sticks to our own reality, it believes the circumstances that we are in, and it associates with the community that we belong to.
Maya is currently the Senior Director of Behavioral Economics at Google and is the Creator, Host, and Executive Producer of “A Slight Change of Plans”, a podcast with Pushkin Industries. Maya previously served as a Senior Advisor in the Obama White House, where she founded and served as Chair of the White House's Behavioral Science Team. In 2016, she served as the first Behavioral Science Advisor to the United Nations under Ban Ki-moon.

I love that "Power of first starts. You don’t have to wait for a major milestone". And that is so true. Everyone of us can begin to make changes starting today. It may start slow at first but keep at it. Because although slowly but consistently when look back, you'll see how much progress you've made. I'm rooting for you ❤

Here are my 10 extra tips to INCREASE your daily manifestations that I’ve learned over the years..👇🏾
    1. Practice gratitude every morning. When you wake up, list everything that you are grateful for and feel that gratitude in your core. Feel free to write things down in a journal so it is easy for you to remember.
    2. Replace your negative thoughts with positive ones. Every time you feel a negative thought coming on, make a positive spin on it right away.
    3. Take ownership for things that happen in your life. It's easy to blame others however you will feel much better when you realize that most issues stem from us.
    4. ALWAYS believe that good things are about to happen. By being open to new possibilities you are inviting abundance into your life.
    5. Remember that like attracts like so you get back whatever you put out, whether it is good or bad. So do good AND received good.
    6. Meditate for five minutes a day. During this time focus on how you want your life to be; but place your focus on how you feel AND feel that feeling as if you have already accomplished those goals.
    7. Step outside of your comfort zone. Stop playing it safe and make that decision to finally go for your dreams.
    8. Focus on activities that make you feel truly happy. When you are truly happy you have the best vibrational frequency to manifest your desires.
    9. Avoid the naysayers and surround yourself with people who only lift you higher. Downers will be downers, don't let them drag you into their misery.
    10. Don't be afraid to dream and know that you are always supported by the universe.
    Hope this helps!

I related to basically everything spoken about and wow what an enlightening conversation. Don't have too many positive influences around me at the moment so I'm very thankful for people like you two, sharing uplifting conversations with the world. Thank you!

Cancer is such a terrible illness and it's utterly heartbreaking seeing a loved one go through it, not being able to magically take away their pain. Seeing them smile tho, and that peaceful bliss Jay spoke about in this vid and what Maya mentioned about Scott is just inspiring, it truly is. I pray no one ever has to go through any such life threatening illness alone, and that peace is found for both the patients and their loved ones

"Acceptance of certain parts of my personality that I wished were different and just need to be okay with..." ~ Maya Shankar
Amazing hearing that from someone who comes across as so secure and talented. Just goes to show we're all just simply humans with many flaws/insecurities and that we need to accept that with grace. Thank you for sharing this Maya and Jay! Much love, peace and good health to all

Referree Vision...Golden Word! Word's of a True Empath.
No, not all of them have it. Some of us, born with The Imprint. Empath isn't the same of empathetic, not even equal to empathy. Empath is an imprinted language not everyone can speak. It's of places where we've never been, been we can describe it without seeing it. (I have a Japanese experience) Stood in shoes we've never walked. (I can not watch the news, and avoid Facebook...its a damage report!) We experienced pain, we've never. been through. To be an Empath, and and extrovert....it's a superpower of it's own. If it were I, Next day, I would be DRAINED in depleted!

Please pray for me I’m losing my faith! Recently I was fired for not getting the vaccine I was worried about side effects. I have lupus and been struggling for years with all my meds, aches and pains. I’m a single mother with two autistic boys now with no income. We are running low on food and daily necessities. I feel so alone, and embarrassed.

You should be okay to take the vaccine. Its not as scary as you think it is to be vaccinated. All the correct knowledge is out there about this vaccine and you should be okay. We all have choices of course but I would consider to just take it since you also have an autoimmune disease and keep thriving especially if you need the money. Keep practicing yoga, daily rituals for yourself too as that can do a lot for the body along with medication. Praying for you as that is hard having autistic children too.
