I grew up watching Love American Style, and loved it. It was brilliant and funny. Many of the cast members in each story segment were famous TV stars of the 1960s and early 1970s. It was on every Friday evening. Many Tv shows were awesome from 1960-1989.
Sigh. Just hearing the music theme again reminds me of my childhood watching this show with my family every week as a kid. The whole TV show line up each week and this show my a favorite because of all the guest stars. 100 X better than The Love Boat ever was.
I couldn't wait for Friday nights. Loved the lineup too. At 8pm it started with The Brady Bunch, at 8:30 The Partridge Family, at 9 Room 222, at 9:30 The Odd Couple and at 10 Love American Style (1971-1972)
I liked this show but loved the Love Boat and at 10 was Fantasy Island. That's about all I remember being on on Saturday nights. Loved the Odd Couple too.
The first sketch was sweet because this must have been when Jack and Brett were still married. And with Charles Nelson Reilly on, it's like a Match Game reunion.
Sometime after the show was syndicated, or when it was, someone put these two sketches in the same episode. It wasn't originally broadcast like this, but it would have been great.

@@recordsrob Yeah. After the original one-hour editions of "Love, American Style" aired in syndication, sometime in the '70s they remade them into shows to fit a half-hour that made them more friendly for local stations (and also doubled the number of available episodes).
Love American Style is definitely one of my favourite, main core memories, growing up. I can remember giggling while watching it with my parents. Most of the adult insinuating sexual innuendos were above my head as I was that young watching it. I would giggle when everyone else would giggle and mom would ask me if I knew what they meant or what the reference was referring to in the skit. Most of the time, I was not aware .....but there were also times I played dumb just to save the embarrassment of watching something so risque with my dad in the room. 😘🤐
Jack was born and raised close to where I live. So was Norman Fell, in the same block. Hmm. Think the milkman was involved? Always loved both Jack and Brett.

You summed it perfectly . TV really had it's golden era in the 60s, 70s & 80s without a doubt.
Me too 🥰👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
As a kid we all believe in magic and wonder. So shows from that era take us back to that lovely time.

Love the Match Game connection in this episode. Brett Sommers and Her Husband(Jack Klugman) along with Charles Nelson-Reilly? AWESOME!
Actually, that connection was made during syndication. It originally did not air this way. It was good thinking on the Syndication co.

Stuart Margolin - who does the shorts, - his character's name is 'Lemar Nettleman'. A bit of trivia !

In real life Charles Nelson Reilly was queer as a three dollar bill. This might possibly be the only woman he's ever kissed.
