i bought a quietcat bicycle trailer last yr for bout 370 bucs on sale new from the manufacturer, along the same lines as to what u built, including trailer suspension.it also has the 4"x20" rear wheel,an upgrade from yours.since it was designed for a bicycle rather than a motorcycle i have decided to motorize my phat tire bicycle.it has been put on hold for bout 2 mths now,but will b finished in bout 2 mths or less.thanks 4 ur inspiration here.
i used to pull a bicycle trailer with 20" tires before,it was a 150cc one,i simply mounted the hitch on the shock bolt at the bottom, but i could go no faster than 30mph because it had the tendency to wanna fishtail.i could get it up to 35 if the heavy weight stayed in the frt,but i feel in the end since their was a tensioned spring on the hitch bar that allowed twisting/swiveling was really the culprit that allowed the trailer to fishtail.
I would agree. Also is the bearing up to the load weight and the continuous higher speeds that the motorcycle is capable of. Even the front wheel and hub off a 50cc scooter would be better than a bicycle hub
Not sure how long the trailer wheel will last off road but it would be easy to replace with something more sturdy. Nice design, like the hitch, very good
Came across this again....I really like your design, but think your frame is much stronger (and therefore heavier) than it needs to be. I built mine out of 3/4" square steel thin wall tubing and gusseted by 1/4" plywood. It is very strong and much lighter. I am building light because it is being towed by a 1970 Honda Trail 70 / CT70 with 140cc engine. I use a heavy steel wheel as I believe the gyroscopic effects of that rotating mass helps stabilize the trailer as the wheel spins faster.
Using tube pipe with 1 mm thickness is good enough. You can arrange the tube formation to make it stronger. This design is to heavy. I made a new one with tube design 2x lighter than this.
Bom dia amigo, gostaria de saber se este tipo de reboque de uma roda para moto é necessária ter documento pra rodar nas rodovias... obrigado obrigado pelo
I have been studying these trailers & my question is the high center point. When you go over a hump in the trail. What is the angle where the trailer high centers?
@@NextBuild Im in process of building one too, I have a break-away point point on the swing arm. When Im done, would you like me to show you what I did? Im pretty sure that you could modify your swing arm to adapt this modification if you think its something worth your time.
@@jameshaney4494 yeah sure james. Im building latest trailer for my klx 250. I got a lot of weight reduction because now im using tube instead of square tubing.
Hi next build. I did mine with out the cage and the absorver just the lower plan but it swing to much. I would like to use the same high as you but i do not have an idea why ti swing to much.
Thank you for sharing !!! Love it, love it !!! I always wandered if this type of trailer is a suitable alternative for side racks and pannier system. It seams that yes. What top speed were you able to obtain with that wheel ?

So good to see you mount the trailer onto the bike frame and not the back wheel / rear fork which causes a very harsh ride for the trailer.
by special jig build near the panier foot peg
Beautiful welding work!
Thanks bro

Increíble idea, gracias por el video, saludos desde México
Excellent Post, Thank you for Sharing.
Excellent job! People would buy those. I think a front wheel from a kx85 would be stronger for hard core off road riding.
Front wheel kx are to expensive. Budget for the build is below 100 dollars.

Thanks Roger Baker, get a bigger tyre and Suspension. Small like mine wearing off to fast.

so far difficulty i got is when crossing above 1 feet tree log. only need to slide over. ditch never give me problem yet.

Brilliant

The absorber pivot point are far from the trailer frame pivot point. Or the absorber are too soft.
@@NextBuild im not actually using absorver. if you dont mind ill keep in thouch to show you mine later.
Great work.
I have to ask arent 2 wheel trailers better, more stable even? Why the heck are these legally better?
Two wheel trailer For bicycle only good at tarmac. Once u hit offroad, stone half size of knuckle can make it flip.
@@NextBuild Thanks.
Exelente, trabajo
Nice
Thanks
Hi! good job! please tell about weight ?
Hi. It is about 7 kilo. But if you using half inch tube pipe it can be lesser than that.
What is maxx speed with this trailer ?
Above 100km on tarmac, it starts bouncing.
What did you use for a shock? Do you have a link?

Do you think a 8kw electric moto can tow it?
i think yes. The drag on it are not to much. unless u going off road.
Bicycle wheel?
Yup. Bicycle wheel. For motorcycle that move less then 80kmh. It's ok.

How would this perform during emergency braking while fully loaded?
How fast can you run on the highway?
the klx's can go as fast at 100 kmh at highway.
