    Kobe was a true student, teacher, & genius of the game. This isn’t the most technical thing for lack of better words but when you combine his body of work (and the work he put into it) in all aspects - Kobe is definitely worthy of being mentioned in the GOAT conversations... RIP sir, to you & your daughter. I admittedly wasn’t even a Lakers fan but that fateful day was a sad day in my life as a basketball fan.

    These are the rule changes after 2004-2005 which basically means this would be considered a foul all night long

    Not back then it wasn't. This is why the debate rages on, because how can you say players weren't skilled in the 70's through the 2000's? You could literally pin their arms to their body and it be considered hand checking, of course you have a better handle when _the defender can't touch you_

    When he played in that tourney of the America, Olympic tune up, his defense was insane. He was getting 10 sec calls on guys.

      It used to not be a foul, hand checking and all the contact that came with it was legal. Which is why we beg the younger basketball fans to respect guys at skill positions who were able to be elite scorers when that was allowed.

      Kobe did the same thing including trapping a defenders's arm. The biggest difference maker between Kobe and many others is he finished his motion while showing the contact more subtly so that he had a much higher chance of actually *making* the shot.
