When I was small and we still lived in Los Angeles, my Dad was really good friends with Telly Savalas AKA Kojak (and yes, he always sucked on a lollypop even in real life).
Telly knew Raymond Burr very well.
What most people dont know is, Raymond Burr was gay and in Hollywood Circles was known as the "Queen of the Gays".
