- Life in China. In this China Vlog, I am in Beijing, walking around many of the beautiful locations in central Beijing city on a bright blue sky day. I am checking out Beijing City now that the Covid controls have been entirely removed and people have been recovering from covid, which has exploded across the city. I have also been thinking about what will be ahead for China and Beijing since it has removed the covid zero policy in response to growing frustration, preparedness and tougher economic times.

Thank you for watching
Fantastic! Enjoy it while you can before the crowds return! Cheers!
Thank you 🙏
Love the old buildings.
👍👍👍👍
Thanks Kai, it is a great walk to really appreciate the history of Beijing as that part is very much the 'old Beijing'. 👍🏻
Thank you for sharing your thought. Good to see you out and about. Good to see that you won the fight against the illness. Stay safe.
Thank you Chung Ho, I am feeling much better now.
Beautiful blue sky there, it’s sun shining here too in the south, 18degC. Most importantly, good to see you getting well and being active again… 🙏
Thank you, it is good to be getting back out and about again. Stay Safe and enjoy the heat!!! it is cold here in Beijing - 🥶
Seeing you walking around again is a joy in my heart. Take care Ian. God bless!
Thank you Wong Wong, I am feeling a lot better now. Stay safe ✌️
Hard to believe that Wangfujing is so quiet! It’s usually packed!
It is so unusual to see it so quiet. I think it will take a couple of weeks to turn the corner on Covid, but I will go back near CNY and see if the situation changes and share. Thanks for the comment, Leonard. Stay safe.
How nice to follow you around the heart of Beijing and see the situation on the ground. I want to visit some historic places while there are few people but I don’t know if they are open
Thank you for watching the video - it is a beautiful City and I recommend that walk if you ever get the chance.
Good to see you up and about. We stayed around there in 2018. Near the drum tower. Lovely area. It's quiet here in Changchun as well. People aren't going out.
Prices of flights should come down soon and the covid protocols should get sensible as regards re-entering China. It was a nightmare organising my trip over. It's much better already. So hopefully you'll be able to get home before long.
Thanks Robin. The Drum Tower is a great area and a lot of nice bars, restaurants and cafe's... especially back in the day. Hopefully that will all come back. I am looking forward to travelling again soon and also in getting back home. I am aiming for the early part of the New Year, spring. I hope it gets easier to organise and plan and there are more flights available then. I had heard of the trouble of getting back into China and it sounds like it was the same for you back then but great that you got through that - you are a braver man than me. Respect. ✌️
Hope you are all on the mend. My wife's family all have C-19 now in Shenyang, but all seem to be OK thus far. Enjoy the quiet streets while you can. It will get busy again before you know it.
I hope the family all come through it quickly Allan. Yeah, the streets will get busy and CNY will be a special one this year I hope. Stay Safe. ❤️
Likewise, all my wife's family have Covid or had it recently as well.
Beijing have many historical ancient structure building and its huge , The city also clean and green !
Thanks Astro - so many people don't realise how beautiful Beijing is as they get the wrong impression from other media sources. As you can see from my videos, it is a beautiful place full of interesting history.
@@ForAllLifesAdventures Beijing being the center of authority for almost 8 centuries ,Back then America was not yet born , Its ridiculous they want to preach China and tell them how to behave , Really utmost arrogance !
@@astroayumi1752 that’s what they are, arrogant.
Great to see you are well. The castle there looks magical. Doesn't seem to be too many people around.
It is very quiet at the moment as the City works through the Covid situation. At any other 'normal' time of year, it would be super busy. ❤️
Love the quiet street sceneries and the residential alleyways! Stay safe and healthy!
Thank you for watching and leaving the comment. The 'Hutong' alleyways are usually bustling with life. I will go back once things normalise and grab more video and share so you can see. It is a very old part of Beijing City and it is a great place to walk around. 👍🏻
@@ForAllLifesAdventures indeed it’s a great place to walk and see the old parts of the city!
I can't believe how quiet the Forbidden City was. Last time I was there it was packed with school kids lol. We decided to go early in the morning hoping there would be less people and ended up on a day where loads of schools were visiting…lol
The great thing about the Forbidden City is that once you're inside it never feels like there are loads of people wandering around simply because it's so immense.
It is usually busy as you know but on this day it was so quiet, very peaceful and it added to a different experience. You are right, when inside it is spacious so never feels cramped. It would have been interesting to have walked through when it was so quiet. 👍
My office was at the north end of this street. The street food was unique, Xinjiang lamb kabobs, fried scorpions, and dumplings.
It is one of my most favourite areas in the world. Bustling and full of great food, energy and so much to see. That would have been a great experience to have an office there. 👍
@@ForAllLifesAdventures Indeed, 1997-2003. It was the time of pagers and fax machines, very people had cars and mobiles phones, motorola and erisson. The Changan Avenue was packed with bicycles at rush hour, everyone men and women wore white shirts. There were no parking laws for cars until 1999. On Wangfujing St there were already the 5 storey bookstore opposite the Beijing Hotel, McDonald’s, the Peking Duck restaurant, the cameras shop, glasses, and the state owned department store. The 3 huge modern mall complexes, one on Wangfujing St, one on ChangAn St, and one on the opposite side of ChangAn street, weren’t complete. They were built by the 3 Hong Kong real estate tycoons, a gesture to support the Chinese government after the Deng/Margaret Thatcher talks concluded and One Country Two System settled. Two little tricks I learned, the best hours to visit the Forbidden City would be 4pm on a clear day because to see a golden rooftop; and visitors can stay at the room at Beijing Hotel overlooking the direction of the Tianmen Square, it was the room which CNN took the famous tank man shot in 1989. I think it was the west end of the 16th floor, a small suite, maybe 17 and 18 also. They are the only rooms in Beijing with that view. But they are regular 5 star hotel prices these days.
Give it time, people will eventually get comfortable going outside, getting around again.
Yeah, I am confident people will be back out very soon. 👍
Did you visit Cheesecake Factory again in Wangfujing? Glad it was a sunny day for you.
😂 I couldn’t afford it as it is too expensive 😆
I wonder what the public attitude of the people there are towards covid now... I'm guessing the majority prefer the relaxed regulations but don't like omicron obviously. Hopefully the outbreak dies down quickly and things return to normal!
Hi Daniel, yeah.. people are adjusting. It is good to start to move towards getting some ‘normal life’ back but the covid is tough for some people and also can/will impact the vulnerable note and because of the way the communities and families are structured then that has a deep emotional impact. The country will get through it and back out the other side I am sure of it. 👍
Hong Kong government gave away USD$1300 in the form of vouchers with an expiration date for HK people 18 years of age and older.
That's a point. ✌️
I think it's because u are in tourist spots, which obviously, was restricted by china during the core pandemic period. have u visited the CBD or the financial centre in Beijing? seems all my friends are very busy and back to normal
I live in the CBD district and it is still very quiet - it will get busy again though, for sure 👌
OMG! Iain the western media was right! 70% of beijing residence is either dead or dying from covid.
That empty street is because of this.
🤣🤣
Haha, I had thought of doing a more dramatic thumbnail to reflect this thought... but too much respect.
