Hi Matti! It's very nice to see you exploring underwater photography and surf photography. I'm a surf photographer from Brasil and i follow since sometime ago. I started to watch your videos because i wanted to learn english and i needed find some interesting subject. Since than i've learnt to much from you, like video production, photography, motivation, hard work, etc. i'am so thankfull for you content. This video made me want to say that. Maybe you already know all of what i'll say bellow, but i want to be a little useful for you. my tips: There are two different fronts for surfphotography. Dome port and "flat" port. For surfphotography, Dome Port is usually used with a fisheye lens at tubular waves. And you can use a smaller dome port to do this (more easy to sink). But, how you're starting at surfphotography i would recomend to use a flat port with a lens like 50mm or 70-200mm, this way you can stay a safety distance from surfers. Starting with fisheye lens at tubular waves can be dangerous. For dome port you can use your spittle to avoid drops water. A good layer of spittle 5min before you get into the water. And at water you need to keep your dome port under water for most of time. For flat port there are a lot of things to avoid drops water. I use a candle and a soft cloth to spread. You can use your body fat or anti-scald cream. and keep your flat port most of the time out of the water. That's it. this tips are just based on my small knowledge, i was just trying to give back something. I'm very excited to watch you doind some surf content. Sorry for my english, i'm yet learning.
As someone who uses a housing quite a bit, it's nice to be able to give you tips for once since I learn so much from you. Use spot flex focus and put it in the upper or lower half of the screen depending on where you're trying to focus. Don't shoot wide open and if you know how far your subject is going to be, use manual focus set before you drop it in the housing. The auto focus will sometimes grab bubble close to the camera instead of your subject. Cheers
You can always test with a small piece of paper in the casing first, see if it’s leaking before putting the actual camera in the water 💦 Well, just in case 😊
The fact that you used it with a wide focal length is one of the reasons why they vibe of the footage is so similar to the GoPro. Also, having two side handles only makes sense because these housings are made to be used completely submerged.
Easily the best drone shots ever on your channel. Matti had incredible guts doing those maneuvers so close to the cliffs and ocean water. Man, I'm speechless. This really makes me want to get this drone setup.
You can buy a dome housing that allows the 1/2 underwater shot with the go pro. I got one used for about $20. With any of the underwater stuff, the best way is to buy used. There is a huge price drop from new, and if you are taking a DSLR into the water probably buy used and a generation or 2 old as well.
Long time subscriber here. I had brain surgery 2 weeks ago. I’ve loved watch your new content and doing deep dives into really old videos as well. Thank you for continuing to inspire so many people. Watching you guys has definitely kept me pushing to get back on my feet and create again!
Matti, as a scuba instructor, I've been spending a lot of time shooting and film UW and one sure thing about it, it takes a lot of time underwater just to practice to get the shot. Took me years to figure out white balance, DR, angle of perspective and tons more regarding the overall conditions down under. For the cost, my old G7X is only like $400 but the housing, lights, macro lens, wide angle lens, arms costs me another $4000. So for A7, R5, it might goes all the way to $4500 just for a housing and ports for lenses. Not included lights, arm etc. But its really rewarding if its our passion.
Good comment! We don't use vacuum valves in our products as the majority of our users are using their equipment on or near the surface where having a housing that floats is a huge advantage. Different combinations of lenses and lens ports have various degrees of buoyancy and so experimenting with these and even using weight belts if you're spending all your time underwater offer good results.
With some housings it allows for a vacuum to be attached to suck the air out of the case this helps it go underwater easier and helps with the water tightening.
Fun video! I guess you could have dunked that camera housing into the swimming pool without the camera in it at first to test it. Have fun and best of luck to you guys!
Epic. To be fair you can see the difference between the GoPro and the Sony. Always nice to get shallow depth of field in the water which you can’t get with the GoPro. Also those FPV shots were amazing
We do run weights…they attach to the bottom. Both side handles are the way to go for smooth shots….not the bottom handle. For good half in half out shots…do those first…before you put housing in all the way…this helps with water droplets. We use Manuel focus most of the time. A good fish eye lens is a must…and the best place to start. Hope this helps.
Bro, those fpv shots were just 🔥. Especially those ones that were super close to the surface, I thought he's going to crash it any moment. But I guess Matti's got the really steady hands. The enthusiasm you guys have in each video is just a breath fresh air. Imagine if Peter was here, bro that would be a blast.
Been shooting agua tec for a while on Oahu. Swim Pipeline with it. Knock on wood, havent had any issues. Gets pretty rowdy at pipeline in the winter. Love that company. 🤙🏼

The floating part of it is great for scuba divers tbh, it helps stabilize it when you are swimming. You can also put it on a tripod that has a weight on the bottom of it to help stabilize it, but that is more for when your snorkel. The active motion shots are probably better to do with GoPro.
The intro was amazing !! later i found it's shot using fpv :) vertical to horizontal and back again the transitions was flawless / so smooth. enjoyable !!
Thank you Portugal for being amazing! Such a beautiful country and amazing people 🙌🏻
hello 1st to watch

DUDEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE THE FPV FOOTAGE WAS INSANEEE IN THIS. Sooo good man.

The GoPro looks pretty good underwater actually compared to the a7siii!
💯 agree! Could have been processing, but I thought the colors were more vibrant on the GoPro.

sooo smart !!!!
The Scarborough Bluffs are looking REAL Cinematic in this one.
Yes, in deep water, you can add some metal weights :)

I'm pretty sure that that burning feeling u got in the water are jellyfish. Awesome vid like always!! Tepo adds such a fun dynamic to the vlog!!
Those drone shots are unreal!
Matti is one of those people who would laugh when they are extremely nervous
Hahaha I know right! He totally is!
These travel vlogs get better and better. This is been my escape. Absolutely love it guys.
The most tense and exciting drone flight I've ever seen in my life. :d
I don't know any other UA-camr that laughs as much as Matti while being filmed lol.

I'd be so down for the upgrade... checks bank account... GP9 $350USD - AQUATECH+A7S III+LENS = $7000USD (keeps using the GP9)
that's the cheap way 🤣
But...you're Rich?!

Love that you called out Danny Gevirtz. That dude is an amazing human being!

So great to see you guys having fun here in Portugal. Thanks for coming.

Can you share more tips on the settings you use for the best results?
I wonder if you could get a device that vacuums the air out of the case so it doesn't float?

Love underwater videography. And always use a housing for work but I'm so scared to use my personal camera. Especially for diving.
Nice drone shot!
