What a time to be alive. Being able to rewatch the cut scenes at will has immeasurably enhanced my understanding and enjoyment of this epic story. Having the backstory pieces (Pied Piper, Outer File, Missing Year) available and translated is huge too. I'm finally ready to experience the final episode...

They were actually in the process of making an HD remake, but they cancelled it... To think, we could've had something that looks as beautiful as Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, and possibly progress towards remaking Xenogears, just to ditch them.
An HD remaster would be enough...but 2 could use a remake from the ground up. The gameplay and leveling system need to be changed.

Why cant JRPGs have good stories like this anymore? Even though the second title from the trilogy is lackluster in comparison to it's counterparts, Xenosaga from a script standpoint is stupidly superior to any rpg we have today. The universe is just as complex as a bunch of square enix try to be with myriad of terminologies and secondary plot lines but still manages to have them all make sense and tie together without jarring plot holes, all the party members are fully fleshed out instead of placeholder stereotypes, and the story doesn't shy away from very heavy handed topics. I WANT MY HD PORT NOW PLZ! ♥
No JRPG is better than Xenogear, same creador of Xenosaga, imho.
Or even Xenoblade 1&2 have better stories than xenosaga, because Nintendo gave the time and resources to finish the projects in comparison to Namco.

When my mother bought a PS2, Xenosaga was the very first game that I played in it. Prior to owning a PS2, I used to visit my classmate after school in order to play this game bringing over the memory card that I bought with the allowance that I saved.
@@OutsiderAus10 Xenoblade is better gameplay-wise, however xenosaga is way superior in term of plot, xc 1-2 fell in the anime tropes, cliche or one dimensional characters compared to xenosaga which is more complex, mature and unique in term of writing. However, xenosaga and xenogears both have a weakest entry or bad part episode 2 for xenosaga and the all cd2 of xenogears, xenoblade just doesn’t have a weak entry and is more constant in term of quality for each entry.
Nah, I've played ep 1 and 2 so far, the story isn't that good. Xenoblade has a better story and only needed one game.

As a fan of Xeno1 & 3 and never really having looked into 2. My thoughts are this.
Some of the characters look fine in this animation/art style such as Ziggy, Jin and Pelegri while other characters like Momo,Kos Mos and Jr look straight out of uncanny valley.
Also same with the Voice acting. Some of its fine like Jr & Allen’s VA’s but Kos Mos and Shions are scuffed to high hell.

Mnmnmnm... Am I the only one that hated how they tried to make Albbedo out to be a tragic villain? That guy literally tried to wipe out second Miltia just for fun in Episode 1. 4:14:44 Lmao, he even was escorted like a hero by 99-Series Realians that used to kill just for fun.(By the way, I couldn't help but laughing because that scene was so random)
Albedo needed to be a whole "I really fucked up and I'm not going to get redemption, but I'll do what I can while I still have the chance" arc similar to Egil in Blade 1.

You think this is bad, you should hear the JP audio. The music is different in a lot of cutscenes, and you can definitely tell why they changed it for the EN version in a lot of places.

Xenosaga Episode 1's characters were more clunky but far more charming. I'd be on board with the art change and refined models in Episode II if they werent so lifeless and flat.
The main characters look about as plain and generic as Allen
Episode 1 was more entertaining. This one seems too awkwardly quiet and the voice actors don't sound happy to be performing the roles. Everyone just seems depressed all around. I hope Episode 3 is better.
I hear ya. This game was the reason my progress through the trilogy abruptly stopped like ten years ago. I'm determined to restart them again sometime, but I know this one will be a bit of a bear to get through (may just watch this!)
Some voice actors were the same throughout the series (Albedo and Rubedo), and some were replaced for this game but continued to X3 as well (chaos). Shion, KOS-MOS, and MOMO were by far the worse in this game - I'm really glad they got the voices from X1 back for X3. Lia Sergeant as Shion, Crispin Freeman as Albedo, and Brianne Siddall as Rubedo are all the god tier performances.

I hate that they changed the animation style and KOS MOS' voice, her deeper voice in the first one and her bigger eyes and wider nose were way hotter.

@@dugtrioramen Yeah. Having played these both back to back (just finished Episode 2 today), Xenosaga 1's stylization still holds up, but this one looks REALLY ugly in places by comparison. When you hold this up to its contemporaries like FF10, this one aged way worse.

@@DairunCates this is incredibly disingenuous. Final Fantasy X also has “low poly” and “high poly” models, and if we’re comparing the two games, Xenosaga II’s “high poly” models are leagues better than FFX’s.
Episode 2 has some ugly ass graphics. However, I appreciate that this episode explored more on Rubedo and Albedo's relationship.

All three games (and the missing year) would be the original episodes 1 and 2. The idea for three arcs never went beyond a rough storyboard idea.

It's an old free to use sample sound here iIrc... This game's OST used a freaking ton of them like that! lol...
I'm here in order to play III, played a bit of II and hated it, there's nothing to collect (no equipment at all, why?) and the combat lacks options. It's constantly awkward, battles have insane delays before starting which kills the mood, and I tried the UNDUB version as well as the DUB and both are awful in some areas, MOMO's english voice is so bad and everyone sounds bored except for Albedo, and in the japanese version KOS-MOS is just horrible sounding after hearing the DUB.

The reason why they changed it was due to the massive success of Final Fantasy X during this time they wanted to go for a more realistic approach to sell more copies of the game and not make it look like generic anime.
They did the opposite with Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow where they thought that by making the designs all similar to anime will sell more copies.

Ngl this series is almost as good and interesting as the MGS series and that’s only because they mixed in a biblical theme and set for the game which made it different from other normal same games so I think it deserves a remake all episodes plus a new one if possible

It's clear that this game was kinda poorly planned. They really had to scramble to fit the pieces together after Takahashi got removed from the project.
Hopefully Monolith Soft doesn't make this mistake with Xenoblade 3. Xenoblade 1, X, and 2 are relatively complete products, and even Xenosaga III is complete, though the staff suffered from low morale afterwards.
What's the name of the track that begins at 1:17:26? I'm specifically interested in the part at 1:18:09.
A tonne of XS2 tracks aren't on the OST and therefore aren't officially named. According to Max Galactica some might just be baked into the audio of the cutscene, so there isn't even a way to rip them, although there are known to be some tracks that aren't stored in the same place as the others so there's a chance that a few just haven't been found yet.
In other words, name it what you like.
How did you get around the copyright for these songs? I was trying to upload some saga 2 stuff and was getting hit by a lot of claims
originally i uploaded xenosaga episodes in 2012 when there was no dmca, but later i started getting copyright claims on some songs and even whole video got blocked worldwide, so i edited and muted some parts in videos and reuploaded

I'm sorry to say that that track has no name and, as far as I can tell, essentially no documentation at all. Many tracks in XSII were never released in any official capacity, and it's assumed that the cutscene tracks that weren't officially released can never be isolated because they're hard-baked into the cutscene's audio. You could always try isolating the audio yourself.

The first Xenosaga, the ES suits were atrocious and pretty much useless. Atleast to me. I very rarely used them. But I'm glad they improved on them and gave them more of a role in the 2nd and 3rd games.

Yeah, I played it once and that was enough. These let you skip the exploration and battles.
i'm not of fan of turn-based gameplay, so i can't recommend it based on that. from what i saw on youtube, though, it's basically the same with the first. i bet there are differences somewhere, but i can't see it on the surface level. and i think why some people don't like the second game is the change in graphics- going from a anime style to a realistic style is rather jarring for most.
anhthii theres alot of pros and alot of cons so iguess it depends on what u want out of it. In terms of story, you miiiiight have a hard time understanding X3 if u skip playing 2. Even though the story is revolved around Jr and albedo, theres some very important elements that are necessary to understanding 3
It's harder than the first one and the combat is a little weird, but it's still good.
The change in graphic was actually due to ppls complaining about that aspect of the first Xs. Xs2 is indeed a bit rough to go through battle wise but mandatory to the whole that's for sure.

The dialogue seems awkward too, even with some of the returning voice actors. And the music is hit or miss. If I didn't want filled in on the story I wouldn't be watching this!

Game was such a disappointment but the scene where omega awakens from miltia stuck with me. The entire federation and Utic fleet is about to get wiped out and instead of fleeing they just go out like ballers duking it above an exploding planet like nbd
It is a real shame that they did not continue with number two as they should have. I can't really stand watching the video play like this sorry to say. But it stands the project for the anime is over. But I respect the fact that someone took the time and effort to making the CGI videos of the game play into a streamed video clip.
