Shaun Cooney hey man.. u remind me of me.. i started skating at the age of 14 and i the biggest regret i have in life is stopping... its been 12 years.. and going through the ups and downs of life.. i just got back on my deck again..i am 30 this year.. its been 3 months.. and slowly getting comfortable again.. i have never appreciated skateboarding this much before .. and i hope i dont ever have to stop again.. ive never felt this way about skateboarding before.. first step i took made me feel like the first breath of fresh air again..i guess i really missed it.. its a combination of freedom and serenity and i certainly hope u feel the same way.. :)
Yeah, I can't agree enough with the guy who said there's no feeling like skateboarding. I guess that shows that skateboarders don't just have the same interest but the same thoughts too. We're all a family.
nice video i started up skateing to help my friend lose his addiction to meth, he used 2 skate and was good, now hes gotten back into it and we hang out a lot because of it hes been clean because of skateing, i told him the adrenaline from skateing would replace the buzz he got from meth.. all glory to god!
Same here but I was suicidal before, I just started skating 3 months ago again never thought a piece of wood would save my life, I skate alone since I dont know anyone at my park either way if feels amazing just cruising around with your board
well how about you take the responsibility for helping your friend rather then just giving it to an invisible man that has nothing to do with it, you are the hero not god.
This is a masterpiece. I watched in 2014 when I was 13 just starting to skate it’s been almost 10 years I haven’t skated much trying to get back into it. But anytime I hear M83 this is the only thing I can think of it’s beautiful. Thank you
"Cruising at sunset with your homies in the city and its golden hour. Thats the ultimate high." I always hear that and think about 2 years ago when i skated down market street in San Francisco for the first time. Not sure why we were skating down it but it was sunset and i felt free. I felt amazing. Me and my brothers just letting free. Listening to my favorite music. This video has helped me so much. I found this when i was in Jr High and now its my Senior year about to go to college and graduate. I've fallen into an extreme depression recently, and skateboarding has been the only successful thing to help me escape. Re-Watching this after years gives me hope again and makes me pick up the board more often. Thank you Andrew. Thank you skateboarding. Thank you all skaters, you guys are my radical family and i couldn't appreciate the joy skating has given me in words. Words don't describe it. I know one day i'm gonna kick depression right in the face and feel like the free kid i was in Jr. High again. Love always.
I was watching this when I was 13 going onto 14 and now im 19 about to be 20 in march and its like this video takes me back to when I was just a kid and I could just go anywhere and fucking skate my heart out. Skateboarding has done so much for me and this video helped me understand that I got invested into something truely meaningful. I've been skating for almost 6 years now nonstop and skating now is different because of the responsibilities I have now compared to when I was just a middle/highschooler but there's always going to be a deep appreciation in my heart for what skateboarding has taught me and helped me with throughout the years.
I remember the first time I saw this video, I was young and still able to skate. I remember stopping the video halfway through to grab my board and skate in the parking lot across the street. I miss those days so much, skateboarding brought something to my shitty childhood. An escape. Something to work towards. Goals. Now as an adult I’m not able to skate because of work and everything else life throws my way. But I’ll never forget the memories and the smiles and laughs that skateboard brought to me throughout my childhood/teen years.
techking00107 12:30 at night watched this for 2 minutes then when't out to skate and i could barly see my feet lol so much fun doe exspecially flamingos and no complys love those tricks :)
It's sad that my parents did not allow me to skate.I know, how to skate. When they said I can't skate ,I cried.I never talked to them ever since.I hide how I learned to skate. This video gave a moment to feel how to skate.I can't use my skateboard anymore but I sneak to skate but only at night time.
Duuudueee I can completely relate ! My birthgiver is trying to stop me from sating even after seeing how much i enjoy it . I'm stuck in highschool and I don't think I am able to have a job because of classes . My birthgiver won't give me money anymore becuse she knows I will only buy skating stuff with it . Makes me want to punch her in the face .
I am so mad at myself for not finding this video 4-5 years back. But on the bright side I am dead sure these 26:20 mins were the best I felt in my life. I am gonna skateboard each and everyday no matter what from now on.
Skateboarding is the one sport that delivered the most flow in my life. You would get into the zone and time would disappear. There was always a next challenge, a perpetual progression of satisfaction that calmed the soul.
My mom said only thing that skateboarding could do to me is get me hurt, broken bones and injuries. i showed her this video she didn't even have to rethink twice and now she supports me skateboarding.
I wish my mom knew full English. She doesnt support me at all of me being a skateboarder. I am a begginer and i just got ollies down. All she does is hate on me how all im gonna do is ruin my shoes and break my bones.
+Comment Your mom may not speak English, but you speak her language. So you have the power to speak what this video does to her. It's not easy but it's worth it. Nothing truly worth it comes easy. Just like skating haha
Bro I watched this 8 years ago and I've been searching for 30 mins for it. I'm getting back into skating now and needed some motivation and bruh it just hit me how happy I am right now, my heart's in it for the long run
Everything about this spoke to me, every word made me think, it's so TRUE. I've been skating for almost 9 years. I've felt all those feelings and it's true to the point. I love the feeling, I love skating with my friends, I love accomplishing new things, I love skating. Thank you, I loved this video, and to all you viewers, I hope you just know what it feels like.
I love skateboarding. I skate like every day and it's cool that same people are in the same park every single day. Same skaters, same scooters, same bmx guys, same cleaners etc. Everyone are having fun
I'm a scooter rider and I used to own a Walmart shit 10$ board that didn't have spinning wheels and I thought all boards where like that I have now quit scooters and I'm now a skater I'm very inspired by this video ---show this to the scooter kids let have a skater nation
the last time i skate when i was about 12 or something and i skated my brother's skateboard until someday i broke it off and stop skating sadly coz i can't afford a new board its too expensive for me. but i still love watching people skating in a parks, videos and else. now i'm 27 married and has a daughter, i still trying hard to get a new board and live my dream.. wish me luck guys! sorry for the bad english i'm indonesian
tbh, im not trying to sound mean or anything, i sometimes dont understand how people cant afford skateboards. I mean like really? you have a family, meaning you obviously have money to support one and probally before that. Im not close to being rich, so dont assume i get alot of boards. I only had 2 so far (both cheap ones from target) for the two years ive been skating and im getting a custom board one. But get out there, get a skateboard and live on!
I'm a 46 year old Street Skateboarder!!!! I love Skateboarding""""""""""""""" :-) Keep Rolling it doesn't matter how old you are just starting or getting back into it as long as your having fun Keep Shredding forever!!!! Hangloose.............. Mark UK
I quit skateboarding for a while. But I was watching this video and was like freaking out. I feel it running threw my veins again. Im coming back home skateboarding
I still watch this video everyday. It motivates me to go skate everyday I had friend who were like dealing drugs and they ask me if i wanted any and I'm just nah man ima go to the skatepark and skate. This video got me through a lot of rough times.
I literally l9ve sk8ing... its like life... skateingislife.....skating and just listening to music has to be the best thing in the world...especially when i skate to sometjing like midnight city by m83....ive been skating for 10 years now, i am the most greatful for the person who got me into skating at the age of 5
I haven't skated for like, six, seven years, and videos like this, and comments like yours, finally got me to blow the dust off my old Baker and get back to rolling. Its fucking awesome, haha.
This video is perfection to me. The way I view it is as everybody is walking around with boxes on their heads, it is representing the close mindedness of society and how restricted we are as everyday citizens. And the skateboarder taking the box off is showing him finding freedom within skateboarding. As he skates past more and more people they find skateboarding and find their own freedom as well. That is a pretty cool concept to me and a very inspirational and motivational thing to see. Thank you Andrew.
HOLLLLYYYYYYY cow, I havent seen this video in like 5 years and I want to cry. And the M83 soundtrack......how much are skateboards going for nowadays?

Skateboarding day is near. I had to watch this to get motivated and do a skateboarding day film with my friends. Thank you skateboarding 15 yrs of skateboarding for me. Still feels the same happiness when i start skateboarding.
im skating since 2011 and after i watched that video the first time i didnt cared about time it was 10:30pm and i still went out skating with homies ist so unexplainable motivational
I remember I could never land a pop shove it but I just eyes a different technique then I nailed it and I was so psyched just did it everywhere showed everyone it was the best feeling ever
I haven’t watched this since 2013 I just came back to see it for the m83 artsy edited shit but then in the end “I guess that’s my favorite thing about skateboarding... is that it makes me happy” and I just teared up.
“Cruising through the streets at golden hour” It’s been years since I’ve watched this but this part reminded me of exactly that feeling. All the homies at the most peaceful time in life All the homies ended up growing and going there separate ways, some have sadly passed away. But I’ll always think back on those memories with a huge smile man.
i remember first starting out with my wal mart board saying if i start now ill be good and while id forget about trying to get better and just have more fun with it sk8 or die
This so film is so motivational I want to go outside and skate so bad but its 108 degrees outside today I might go pour ice in my pockets and just go skate
Being a "skateboarder" is not just riding a skateboard. Being a skateboarder is riding a board, and its the community of skaters that makes it so different and unique. There are so many great people in skateboarding that have made it what it is today. The community inspires me. And like in this video, I know every other skater has the same exact drive as I do. And thats what a skateboarder is.
I was actually thinking the same! I love skating so much and I myself am a photographer and getting into cinematography. Best video I have seen so far.
Still one of the best documentaries I’ve ever watched. Watched it the day it was uploaded and I come back every few months/years to watch and smile. Skated for close to 15 years of my life and since my career has started I’ve really neglected something that has always been there in my life. Just getting back on the board today felt like bliss… thank you skateboarding.
Any true dedicated skater will be touched by this video, if you love skateboarding you make that your number one priority because you love it that much, plain and simple. After this point of skating for so long i don't know what i would be doing without it.
I tired skateboarding when I was younger and I never stuck with it. Now I am a 21 year looking to skate, this time I am not quitting I am sticking to it. 😉
Hi Sarah Mckay are you still Skateboarding?!!!! I'm 46 just recently started Skateboarding a few months ago!!!! I Street Skate and I love Skateboarding I will never quit""""""""""""" Keep Rolling/Shredding it doesn't matter what age you are as long as your having fun........... Hangloose!!!! Mark UK
I started skating serious when I had felt so empty and had nothing left. I poured all my heart I had left believing skating can help me and it paid offed. Couple years in and slams etc but soo worth it where it got me right now . Keep pushing in life and skating
That feeling you get when skating, just pushing along a road and listening to music... You know, total serenity, calm, peace... In your own world... Love. I got that feeling just watching this video. I love this.
Such a great piece of work. I watched this 10 years ago and was obsessed. I'm now a videographer and currently editing a documentary, and came back to watch it for some inspiration. Just as well produced as I remembered.
This is so inspiring. This video actually brings up my spirit to start to get back on my board again. It's amazing how a simple piece of wood with 4 wheels could actually change your life :') .
This video was effing beautiful, music by m83 fitted so well. So glad I picked my skateboard back up today. I may be 25 now and feel like I'm starting to be a little "too old" for it now I just remind myself that I still enjoy it, it's still fun. And that's what matters
just wanna say thanks to the creators just watched and have watched every time i hit one of those ruff spots. now time to jump on my board and escape for a few....jah bless
I am a 41 years old man, I stop skating when I was 18, because I had to work, needed the money to survive, traveled half the world, got married a year ago, finally settle down, still struggling trough life, after watching this video, all I want is start skateboarding tomorrow........thanks for the video, love it, memories are back in my head
i almost cried dude this is the best video ive ever watched ive watched alot of sad videos and this is what i cry to and its not even a Try not to Cry video or anything its just very Heart Touching
I am 21 and I recently purchased askate board as I want to learn how to skate. Hopefully over time I become better at is, as it seems really fun. I especially cant wait to just cruise around. Even though I live in the London, and there are not many skateparks/skaters I still want to learn.
Wow, it sounds worse than where I live. I think that, what I think is bad with my pavements, being un-skatable, to a good skater its easy. If that makes sense lol. I might find it alright within a year when I can skate better
Yea man not about how good you are or what age you begin skating man, Its about having fun and feeling free, just like explained in the video man. Ive been skating for about 7 years now and it will always have a role in my life whether it is a big role or small. Its almost a lifestyle if you take it that far man! Goodluck and keep at it, dont listen to any haters man!
GO for it! It is so much fun, even the learning process was fun (to me at least). It doesn't take super long to learn either, a couple weeks if you keep at it.
Bruh, I'm a 21 year old in the USMC who has been skating for all of 2 weeks now. My suggestion is: if there's a skate park you can get to, go for it. While I started to learn ollies in parking lots and what not, my abilities rose exponentially when I started using a skate park.
Sure it looks fun...but to the guy who said there is nothing like skateboarding....try free running, try dirt biking, try rallying.....try para gliding...try bungee jumping, dry deep sea diving.....etc etc etc.....I am a biker, i tour with my friends in my motorcycle and i can say its more thrilling and freeing and entertaining and uplifting than skateboarding....sure this will appeal to the respective demographics...but the feels were highly exaggerated and its like held much higher in the pedestal than it deserves....atleast in comparison to the aforementioned activities....still all in all a nice video...
I wouldn't say any of those things are better, you've got your thing and we have ours. It isn't about which one is better than the other, it's about what resonates with you. Have you ever been a skateboarder? They aren't holding it higher than it deserves and they aren't exaggerating. It's all personal preference. It's individual just like anything else, some people love skateboarding and some people love whatever else. It's all the same really.
Word, what the fuck bro. I've tried bmxing, soccer, baseball, swimming but nothing compares to skateboarding for me. It is so hard to express how much the sport has impacted my life and this hits it on the mark. Just because you can't relate or understand the message doesn't mean you got to shit on it.. Every one is not the fucking same
That quote!
"I'd rather fail at something I love than be successful at something I hate"

+Karly Hunter ''I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not'' -Kurt Cobain
kinda similar
I just started skateboarding again today as a 29 year old. I haven't skated since I was 15.
Nice bro ! :) sooo 2 months passed, do you still stick to it??
I started again with 36, and 20 years who do not practice skateboarding
about 4 months ago that I'm only practice the weekend due to work soon , but for this excellent divertime
I at first you deria to practice in an enclosed area ollie , that trick is the basis of everything. And skates on a street closed to start getting lost balance . By little you will take confidence and you're encouraged to try other tricks. sorry for my English , I hope you understand , Greetings
I had to stop the video half way through to go skate :)
xXLsUTiGeRsFaNXx Haha I feel ya!
yep ;)
lol
this is so deep and incredibly true. We're a family, no matter who we are where we come from....we're all family who speak the same language
Tru fam
true
true and we stick together
Yeah, I can't agree enough with the guy who said there's no feeling like skateboarding. I guess that shows that skateboarders don't just have the same interest but the same thoughts too. We're all a family.
Language doesn't matter skateboarding speaks for you and yourself even though your a different language
that's the problem that i have, none of my friends "really" like skateboarding.
nice video i started up skateing to help my friend lose his addiction to meth, he used 2 skate and was good, now hes gotten back into it and we hang out a lot because of it hes been clean because of skateing, i told him the adrenaline from skateing would replace the buzz he got from meth.. all glory to god!
Same here but I was suicidal before, I just started skating 3 months ago again never thought a piece of wood would save my life, I skate alone since I dont know anyone at my park either way if feels amazing just cruising around with your board
nice one bro, keep it up.. it can save your soul
mike kendall that's awesome. Glory to God indeed..
I hope ur not lying.
well how about you take the responsibility for helping your friend rather then just giving it to an invisible man that has nothing to do with it, you are the hero not god.

Everytime I feel down I watch this.. And go skate.. Best feeling ever
It's a beautiful thing, seeing people you don't know, explain exactly how you feel; simply because of something you both love..

And thats what a skateboarder is.
dude i spent a month trying to find this video because I remember watching it back in highschool
Skating is the best thing created on earth
2018 we need Freeling part 2
I just quit my job after watching this to go skate

MrAwesome government support
you don't understand how many times i've watched this. i freaking LOVE how real this is. so, thank you.
I've been looking for this video for about 6 months, finally found it
man you're a great cinematographer this is something else, thank you for sharing this!!!
One of the best documentaries I have ever seen! The editing is flawless! Much inspiring, especially if you're studying editing and such.
I was actually thinking the same! I love skating so much and I myself am a photographer and getting into cinematography. Best video I have seen so far.
best skateboard video ever
Still one of the best documentaries I’ve ever watched. Watched it the day it was uploaded and I come back every few months/years to watch and smile. Skated for close to 15 years of my life and since my career has started I’ve really neglected something that has always been there in my life. Just getting back on the board today felt like bliss… thank you skateboarding.
Any true dedicated skater will be touched by this video, if you love skateboarding you make that your number one priority because you love it that much, plain and simple. After this point of skating for so long i don't know what i would be doing without it.
Man this video is so awesome, the music, the people, everything about it is awesome. Great work, really great work.
I tired skateboarding when I was younger and I never stuck with it. Now I am a 21 year looking to skate, this time I am not quitting I am sticking to it. 😉
hell yeah man!
Ethan M. Lol, thanks. I will never stop learning.
***** well thanks. I will.

When i see a ledge or rail or anything, i think of how well u can skate it, and how much i suck lol
Sick documentary
great video and editing
this just described my whole life, i fucked up my ankle and its torture to see people skate when i cant:(
i still got a pin in my ankle and im still cruising around
What an amazing movie! Loved it! Skate or die!
Such a great piece of work. I watched this 10 years ago and was obsessed. I'm now a videographer and currently editing a documentary, and came back to watch it for some inspiration. Just as well produced as I remembered.
this is so beautiful :')
This is so inspiring. This video actually brings up my spirit to start to get back on my board again. It's amazing how a simple piece of wood with 4 wheels could actually change your life :') .
And some trucks and bearings and hardware lol
Of courseeee ! XD
skateboarding is not about to be the best ... its about to be a community, to have fun and to feel good
This video was effing beautiful, music by m83 fitted so well.
The word 'like' is used 726 times in this documentary.
That is approximately every 2.2 seconds
+Gage McGinnis Why'd you have to ruin it by saying that?
So haha
You have some problem with that ?
man i haven't skated for exactly one year now what am I even doing with my life
can i just cruise with an skateboard on the street? i don't want a longboard or cruiserboard..
manipul dude , of course . Get some good bearings and wheels
Dat feeling when you skate with your friends yo sunset! !BEST FEELING EVER
I love it 3 so many people hate skateboarders i think they will shut up if they watch this video and see wat skating means to us
So right!!!
Yeah!
There should be a skate island:)

i almost cried dude this is the best video ive ever watched ive watched alot of sad videos and this is what i cry to and its not even a Try not to Cry video or anything its just very Heart Touching
I am 21 and I recently purchased askate board as I want to learn how to skate. Hopefully over time I become better at is, as it seems really fun. I especially cant wait to just cruise around. Even though I live in the London, and there are not many skateparks/skaters I still want to learn.
Ye thanks, just a shame a lot of the foot pavements are uneven and not smooth to casually stroll around town. Here in London

Every one is not the fucking same
Anthony Rodriguez Well said my friend.
Go watch bike movies!
Get out of here kid this is skateboarding go watch that shit somewhere else
Everybody should watch this even if they don’t skate
The ending made me tear up... Ima go skate right now
