yup i own one too .....unmodded of course.......it sounds great live with a full band and also for studio work too. with the top boost engaged the amp really barks
The pathfinder 15r has no ‘top boost’ as far as I know, that is a feature of the AC series, and functions like a treble boost. You probably refer to the ‘boost’ button on the pathfinder 15r ? (which btw doesn’t really ‘boost’ but instead activates a diode based distortion circuit, just to make it even more confusing ;))
@martijn_yt according to Vox: "keep the gain between 10-11 o'clock and you've got a great facsimile of the coveted Vox “Top Boost” channel." I always considered the boost button to be a top boost
@martijn_yt Yes, the Vox Pathfinder 15R does have a "boost" feature which is often described as essentially providing a "Top Boost" tone, allowing you to achieve a classic Vox chime-like sound with increased gain and brightness, similar to the traditional Top Boost circuit found on older Vox amps. Key points about the Pathfinder 15R's "Top Boost": Function: The boost switch significantly increases gain and overdrive. Sound character: When used with moderate gain settings, it replicates the characteristic Vox "chime" sound. Not exactly identical: While not an exact replica of a vintage Top Boost circuit, the boost feature on the Pathfinder 15R provides a similar tonal quality.
Nice playing. At max gain, it might sound a little boxy with the stock speaker. My setting is: Vol at 10 o'clock, gain at 8 o'clock, speaker out plugged into a 2x12. I then dial all the tones from the guitar's pots: killer ! ;-)
Playing sounds great as always Alex!!

Hey man thanks, yeah, external speaker cabinet makes it HUGE !
Can i play clean jazz with Pathfinder 15r stock? I like warm solid sound...dont care much for distortion
Hey, at low volumes for sure, but it lacks low end naturally and might get overloaded if you plug L-5 into it...
@@rastop1 appreciate the reply. I'll be using tele only..no jazz box at this moment...
you absolutely can ....the pathfinder sounds clean and chimey when the gain and drive are dialed back ....lovely choice for jazz playing
Did you remove the LEDs? Sounds awesome!
Hey, thanks, no, I installed regular(not super bright) red LED's, without them it's getting louder, but little harsh to my taste...
..wow, ..yer speaker's gettin' alittle rusty there bu ddy
