Why would have you black flame protection for PvP? It gives the same 15% physical defence as boiled crab but still the 20% health reduction penalty. Before it’s nerf it was a situation buff, now it’s complete trash. Costs a spell slot, has cast time, cost 30 FP and requires 30 faith and is not silent.
its 30% versus world enemies- but theres exceptional little pve enemies that hit invaders, Magma Wyrm i guess? for a host its not a bad idea if the areas not cleared yet but at max level enemies shouldnt even be a threat, so its even worse then i first thought
Because spell slots are easier to get to then the inventory. You don't want crab on your hot bar and risk eating instead of drinking an estus, and you don't want it on your quick menu, but if you have black flame on your spell bar it's close enough to get to but also not taking up a super valuable slot. That's the only reason I can think of, and it's a very mid reason
@@boris-dragosani 10 slot quick menu- red flask, blue flask, physick, grease, pickled turtle neck, boiled crab, fan daggers, hefty pot, ritual pot, cracked pot 4 slot quick menu clockwise, exalted flesh, bleed bolus, uplifting aromatic, frost bolus. Having boiled crab is quite simple, there is no excuse for it to be hard to access. You have to softswap to a seal, cycle through spells slots and have FP and faith requirements versus cycling through 10 slot menu till you get crab.
pumpkinhead is just so numb to the sounds of high FP AoE Rememberence spells popping off non stop that he doesnt stop looking for you downstairs for like 30 seconds, when you're right above him with host & co
Some AoW really need to cost even more FP. For example, something like Wave of Gold really needs to cost 100-120 FP. Even at level 100-150 base Mind is more than enough for the majority of builds that aren't primarily casting spells.
Golden Vow (GV), Uplifting Aromatic (UA), and Exalted Flesh (EF), don't cancel each other, but the EF does remove the attack buff from the UA, so only the damage negation bubble remains
this is not quite accurate, GV and UA both provide an aura buff that boosts AR by the same amount, but GV gives you defense while the UA gives you the bubble. If you do the UA first and then GV you can effectively double dip since the bubble stays even if the aura buff is overwritten. Exalted flesh is a body buff and is overwritten by stuff like Crab or FGMS
